***EPL 2016-17 Fantasy League*** League is set - Good Luck! (1 Viewer)

What in the hell is going on with Hull? I was looking through their lineup and it doesn't look like they've signed anyone this summer. They are going to be really really bad.
Just how bad are we talking?  Cincinnati bad?

Final Gateway Gabigols roster, which would absolutely slaughter your Football Manager teams if this were a multi-season sim. Also features four players that are total wildcards. They may all sign with EPL teams, none of them could sign, some could sign...who the hell knows.

For instance, of the Four Mysteryteers I took, Koulibaly looked most likely to be EPL bound and Barbosa least likely. Now I'm reading Napoli want to hold on to Koulibaly and that Man U and Chelsea both are ready to throw their checkbooks at Gabigol.

If I had to guess, I feel better about getting Odegaard (West Ham leads over Liverpool for a loan) and Gabigol than I do Icardi and Koulibaly.

BTW, do I have to leave their roster spots open in Fanthrax or can I fill them with some Johnny McBum in the FA pool?

Leave them open - you have 4 blanks in your roster - don't claim a FA or waiver without dropping a player - otherwise, I will choose which of your Lottery Tickets to drop..

Morgan Schneiderlin- MF- Man U for my 16th rounder. 17th rounder coming up as soon as I figure out what ####ty starting goalie is left.

Texted him.

Big thanks to @drunken slob for keeping me in the loop this week when I was traveling
Glad to help, sir. My phone meltdown during the draft last summer still lurks in the back of my mind. Don't get me wrong, the waiver wire treated me pretty well. I just didn't like the thought of you having to do what I did.

Especially when I picked up Juan Cuadrado only to see him loaned to Juve less than 24 hours later.       Special one my ***

The Borja Baston pick fell into my lap while sitting in the passenger seat between Madison and Stevens Point.  I checked Twitter after you texted me and the rumor was right there at the top.

Swansea has had an interesting week in the market.  They sold Williams at peak value and turned a healthy profit on Ayew.  The Williams sale will be second guessed in Wales to no end if the Swans struggle out of the gate.

Ok - been vacillating among a number of options, but in the end I will take the boring route and grab a player I am likely to cut in a few weeks - or even tomorrow.  But I still need a player to fill out my full roster this week :bag:

Nemanja Matic - M - Chelsea

OK - I think everything is set on the league site.  I did have to re-run the schedule because it was set to run for 36 weeks with a 2-week playoff.  I changed it to 38 weeks.  Tiebreaker this year is total points, followed by H-2-H.  Every team plays the others 3 games, except you will only play twice against 1 team.

I processed waivers - so that all players are now FAs until their game starts.  If, for some reason, the players are still available after their game starts, I will reverse any transaction involving those players - so please try not to pick up any players after their game starts - even if they are listed as FAs.  Hopefully it works right out of the box - but I have to allow for some 1st week issues.

Waivers are set to run on Wednesday nights at 9:00 PT  (6:00 ET).

Just a few more thoughts before the league kicks off:

I know this is a long season, but the teams that have tended to do well in the league are the teams with the more active owners.  Which does not mean you need to check in to the league every day, but checking in on Fridays and setting a line-up would be a good thing!!  Last year, the average number of Games Played per team was 334, and Games started was 306 out of a possible 418 - that is a lot of free points given away.   Some of those are close decisions, where you want to play a guy on the bench in the hopes he does something in a sub-appearance - but a lot were team leaving injured players in the line-ups...

Also, this is a high-turnover type of game - you can probably expect to keep 6-8 players that you drafted all season long.  It probably seems like we were scraping the bottom of the barrel in the draft, but with injuries, and players stepping up that we had not anticipated, and still-to-come transfers - there will be a number of short and long-term buys available on the waiver wire or FA.  So, maybe take a look and make a waiver claim or two, or pick up a FA before the games start on the weekend.

Its better for some if we have a few dead teams, but its better for the league if we have a mad dash for the money next spring.  So, even if real life pops up and keeps you away for a week or two, it does not take long to get back into the race.

Have fun with it though.  I have too many Liverpool players on my roster, so I hope my team sucks, or that I can find the right gems on the waiver wire!

:goodposting:

Can't overemphasize the importance of staying active.  I think I started one year 2-7 and ended up finishing in the money.  Guys who don't play don't score so it's important to follow lineup trends and player form.

Is rotowire the way to go or is there a better resource for seeing who is starting for their teams each week?  Compared to fantasy American football/baseball/basketball I've found fantasy info for the EPL on the net very hard to come by.

Yeah - you won't know starters until an hour before the game when they have to be released.  There will be some, rotowire, and rotoworld, that track injuries and such, and they each have decent articles during the week.   But, coaches don't give anything away, or very little away, in their pre-match press-conferences.  And, there is no "standard" injury report to check on likelihood of playing.

Also - on your league page, you should have access to news about your players - any that are injured or suspended have red flags to alert you to an issue.
