Ah, thanks for the heads up. Probably would have gone a different direction but it's no big deal, my fault for not checking. He listed as a Forward on Fantrax if it matters. Was considering him as a MF option too until I checked.
You monsterThat be me.
In my defense (a) Jmon arbitrarily decided to send me his list because I was in the thread, (b) it was two days between the list and the trade and I honestly forgot about the names on it and (c) Sead Kolasinac's potential as an attacking fullback isn't strictly confidential information.
Our provider (Opta, the official provider for EPL) determines default eligibility, and then eligibility can be gained based on the rules you set in League Setup --> Rosters --> Preferences.
Thanks,
Neil
The Fantrax Team
I'm open to either way. It was frustrating watching Milner play as a LB all year last year yet his position remained as a MF for more than half the year so I can understand the desire to be able to change it. On the other hand, it can get messy and leaving it as designated makes it simple. We have one more issue to address - position eligibility. I inquired about Victor Moses, and this was the response:
In year's past, Fantrax made eligibility adjustments - but we do not currently have any rules set up here.
So, the first question - do we want to allow for updated position eligibility?
And second, if we do, how many games played are sufficient to add a position to a player?
I think we would be talking about adding positions - so a player would always be eligible at whatever he is now.I'm open to either way. If a player has played at the position he's listed at even once then I think it needs to remain. If it's a permanent change and he's been there for 5 or more weeks, then I think it's reasonable to allow the change to be made.
Based on the response from Fantrax - I don't think Milner would have been changed at all this season - since we have not set up any rules. He would remain as the default setting.I'm open to either way. 3 Klopp sees something in SolankeHad to get the Firmino handcuff... because Sturridge sucks.
Can't argue with this. I would leave things alone and let the system be the default. We can discuss this change for next year in our keeper league! Not cool, imo. Would've drastically changed the way we drafted had this been in place at the start of the draft.
Well, the only difference is that in years past, players eligibility would be changed automatically by Fantrax. So, if anything, we have changed the rules for this seasonNot cool, imo. Would've drastically changed the way we drafted had this been in place at the start of the draft.
Request denied.I'll pm you my ffa pick so i get it right when it starts
So Fantrax isn't doing it at all this year? Also - I should add - these changes would have to be based on Opta's classification of the player in each match - I am not interested in an argument about how a player is used. So, in my example - Opta may classify Victor Moses as a Midfielder in every game, and he would not be eligible as a Defender.
No - Fantrax relies on OPTA for position eligibility. We rely on Fantrax. So Fantrax isn't doing it at all this year?
I have no idea if I'm reading it all right, but if we're going to do it outside of Fantrax then it should be based on some other site's classification of position changes, not something we implement manually.
Although if we do the latter please change Dele Alli's position to CB. Thanks.
I assume you are talking to Eephus.I'll pm you my ffa pick so i get it right when it starts
Sure, let's let him have the 1.1 pick and get the 1st pick in the 17th round too while inconveniencing everyone by making us wait for his vacation. I say we start the free-for-all now and he can jump in with his 2 picks whenever he decides to grace us with his presence.........ok @Christo is up.
He is free to pick both his 16th and 17th round pick - assuming he makes it tonight.
For everyone else - we will pick up the 17th round as a free-for-all, first come, first served basis at 12:00 noon et tomorrow - we'll let that run for 48 hours until 12:00 noon et on Saturday. At that point, I will finalize the draft, and shift any remaining players to WW. Reminder, once the draft is concluded, only players on the Fantrax list can be selected.
Lets plan on having waivers on Thursday - I might have to run them manually. That would leave it as FAs until each player's game next weekend. But, all new players signed have to pass through waivers - so anyone signed (or added to the player pool) after we run waivers are not eligible to be picked up (I will reverse any such transactions).
So how is that different from last year?No - Fantrax relies on OPTA for position eligibility. We rely on Fantrax.
Last year, Fantrax updated the players positions during the season. This year, it seems they have left it to the individual leagues as to how/when they want to implement the changes. We currently don't have a rule in place to deal with that.So how is that different from last year?
To be fair - in the absence of the free-for-all - he does have pick 17.01...Sure, let's let him have the 1.1 pick and get the 1st pick in the 17th round too while inconveniencing everyone by making us wait for his vacation. All in favor?
OK, so Opta only sets position eligibility at the beginning of the season, it doesn't update in season? Sorry if I'm being dense here.Last year, Fantrax updated the players positions during the season. No its confusing.OK, so Opta only sets position eligibility at the beginning of the season, it doesn't update in season? Sorry if I'm being dense here.
I know, but it's Christo....To be fair - in the absence of the free-for-all - he does have pick 17.01...
I went back to check how we handled it last year, and that %^&*@! had the top pick overall then also...but, he made his back-to-back picks and we went straight to the free-for-all.I know, but it's Christo....
The official game has no players with dual positional eligibility or in-season changes e.g. Rooney is a FWD regardless of how deep he gets played. How does the "official" salary cap game handle this position crap? Do they make changes throughout the year?
My suggestion would be to have an individual add a post to this thread if they think someone's position should be changed. Then @Sinn Fein makes a decision and promises to be super fair.
Thats a lot of pressure...Like, really super fair
Its unambiguous - I don't know about fair. Given that we have had position changes in previous years, it was reasonable to expect that to be the case this year...The official game has no players with dual positional eligibility or in-season changes e.g. Rooney is a FWD regardless of how deep he gets played.
I think this is the easiest way to handle this. Soccer has more fluid positions than American sports so reclassifying is always going to be a gray area. I don't think any players are eligible for two positions now. I'd vote to keep it that way because it's unambiguous and fair.
But the question is - why should we change now? It's only going to impact a handful of players during the season and Fantrax/Opta will probably screw it up.
You are being denseOK, so Opta only sets position eligibility at the beginning of the season, it doesn't update in season? Sorry if I'm being dense here.
. Don't feel like linking back to the thread from last season. But I made this great pronunciation about a guy and saw that he was gone, then took another guy only to find out @The Gator had taken him two hours before I came in to show my supremacy. I declared the pick as final and got the the good ole
and moved on. Entered the season with 15 players and Carlos Bacca as my spec pick. So anybody that thinks this last pick is important, forget it.
Thought it was obvious but I was completely kidding.Don't have a problem with Christo taking the first "Wild Card" pick.
None of you can possibly believe that who you take now will make a difference after seeing over 200+ players go off the board. Hell, just last season I took two dudes that were already taken in the 17th. Don't feel like linking back to the thread from last season. I've had a lot to drink, so, my apologies. Not taking shots at anybody, my badThought it was obvious but I was completely kidding.
It's still Christo, though.
If you are taking shots, Christo went thataway =======>I've had a lot to drink, so, my apologies. Not taking shots at anybody, my bad![]()
Been eyeing him for a few rounds, especially since Newcastle plans on featuring him a lot. Good pick.Christo said:Mikel Merino, M, Newcastle
