ESPN just reported .. D.Mcallister -- torn ACL (1 Viewer)

I love it... during the game it was reported that the X-Rays were Negative and Duece should be good after the bye week.... I wake this morning and Duece's career is a Wrap. God Bless this sport.

Thankfully everyone was so high on the Saint Players that have very few of them on my team.

Terrible news for McCallister. I'm seriously considering picking up Pierre Thomas in several leagues. He ran well enough in the preseason that they cut middle round pick Antonio Pittman. He is the same size as Stecker though. We have all seen Stecker play so I highly doubt he starts producing "good" numbers.

A torn ACL isn't going to show up on an X-Ray anyway, and I'm sure they did some knee manipulation to get an initial diagnosis. With the team not playing well last night, it made no sense to say "McAllister's looks to have a torn ACL" coming out from halftime. The Saints had a bit of momentum going into the 3rd quarter and news like that could have been very demoralizing for a team that didn't need any more hits.Once the MRI results are out, then it'll be official.

Very interesting... Thanks

I don't own Deuce but that is a tough break for him. He worked hard comng back from the last one. Can a guy seriously comeback from 2 torn ACL's?
Ask Frank Gore.

The Saints won't be running Pierre Thomas, they will be using Stecker. Pierre was even active for the last game, so if they wanted to use him, they would have done that, left Stecker inactive.

Good luck to Deuce.

Having just traded Jamal Lewis an Cotchery for Deuce and Curry, this shifts the balance of that trade quite a bit.. :(

Unless the NO OL gets their act together, I don't see any RB as startable (except Bush in PPR). There are no running lanes and everytime Brees tries to setup for a throw, he can't set his feet without getting hit on release. It looks to be a long season for NO :(

What's even worse is he was stretched out by a pitiful Drew Brees pass when he got hurt....all for nothing.
Saints will be lucky to win 6 games this year.
Something I NEVER thought we'd be hearing ourselves say this year. What a horrible start for a good team.
I'm not sure how good they really are. They may be an 8-8 team that over in 2006. Last year was magical for this team, everything fell into place, the whole country was behind them.
True, and even though their season was considered magical, they were still only a 10-6 team that managed to get as far as they did only because of how weak the NFC was.

si.com

And things only get worse now, with the likely loss of running back Deuce McAllister for the season. Payton told SI.com this morning McAllister likely has a season-ending torn anterior cruciate ligament, suffered when he jumped high to catch an errant Drew Brees throw early in the loss to Tennessee.
Also from that article...
Plus Reggie Bush (2007: 29 carries, 80 yards, 2.8 yards per carry) is simply not an impact player in the pro game -- so far.
 (at Reggie, not Deuce)

The only silver lining here is that we might get a chance to see if the "Reggie Bush isn't an every down back" crowd was right or not.

Time for 25 to step up and put the team on his shoulders.
as Parcells said, 'Bush is a satellite, he likes to work in space' he doesn't look comfortable as an every down/featured rb.he's great on the perimeter, in the flat, or in the slot.

I"m one of those who agree with Parcells on this, Bush ,imo, isn't a 25-carry/gm RB..however, he's a great compliment to another RB.
I know every Bush basher keeps saying this, but how do we know yet? I am being serious. Has Bush ever practiced with the Saints as a real RB or as the gimmick. Maybe now he will actually practice as the #1 RB and get better at it. Maybe he will fail and always be a pass catching guy who occasionally lines up as RB, but maybe he will actually get used to playing Deuce's role. I am not sure if he can or not, but I don't think anyone has brought up the fact that since day 1 with the Saints, he has not been a "real" RB and has not practiced as one.

You mean someone in every league is going to have to find a way to make up the 4, 4 and zero points he has been putting up each week?

This would be a good fit, actually.
Ricky Williams will be available in a couple days...
Dear Cookiemonster--That is in no way funny. :bag: -- Saints Fans.
The 5th round pick to get him would be much cheaper than last time... I promise. Being that he's on my roster, I'm not hoping for him to go to N.O. either, but at this time it's either them or G.B. unless N.E. or Indy wanted to beef up.

I hate to ask this, but is this ESPN report accurate. This is the same company who reported Manning was out a month.

Is it possible the Saints will plug Pierre Thomas into Duece's roll and keep Stecker and Bush how they are now? This kid had a couple very nice games in the preseason. Obviously Bush will see more touches, but I could easily seeing them using Pierre between the tackles. Thoughts?

Why on earth would they keep doing what they are doing now? It isn't working.I say that with the bye week there will be a big focus on getting Bush in the traditional RB role. Unless they bring someone in.

b/c Reggie Bush isn't built to be a feature back and is averaging 2.8 ypc?

did you guys watch the 2nd half??? Stecker got the work that Deuce wouldve had (except GL duty) . . .

again, for the millionth time, Bush cant break tackles well enough to be an everydown back . . . heck, he cant break tackles at all . . .
