Ever look back at an old dynasty draft? (1 Viewer)

2004 12 Team 1 pt per Reception Dynasty Draft

My team is Portis N Pals Krotch Kickers. I definitely had a great draft overall, but look at some of my picks. Randy Moss in the first round. Brooks in the 7th round! I did get exceptional value on Boldin, Gates, Jackson, even Jordan for what he did the next few years.

Anyone else have an old dynasty draft, maybe something from 2002 or 2003?

my last 3 1st rounders were- 06 Sharper, 05 was Thurman, 04 was JJAirington..we have 12 teams and keep 10 with a 45 man max roster..let's just say ALOT was learned in the past few years :X Thurman was great through the season and is still on the roster but going into this year's draft I can afford to keep him unless his situation really improves and he earns his job back..feel like the damn jets after those 3 drafts though..or maybe even CLE pre 05

Been playing dynasty for 14 years now. I save everything.

* Helps me determine where my competition may be leaning. (ex: Team X has never taken a 1st Rd. QB...)

* Helps me see how valuable RBs are in dynasty, and how easy it is to whiff on "can't miss" WRs.

* Helps me see what round NFL draftees is the cut-off. Don't draft RBs taken after the 4th. Not a lot of good history there... TD, Jamal Anderson, Priest Holmes and Willie Parker the exceptions. (But who saw those guys coming? No one.)

* Helps me see that you can wait on QBs.

* I like to go back and look at former first rounders. I make note of how many 1st rounders actually ever pan out to be the fantasy player you'd expect. It's about 25%. Not really an inspiring number.

I used to have a team called Sonic Death Monkey. Made me take a double take at first. I was thinking "I don't even remember being IN this league."

 8 years here, and I like to save everything too. It's a lot of fun to look back on, and it's amazing how many trends you find throughout the years.

I feel your pain. Don't have a link to the draft handy but in 2004 I started off a PPR dynasty with Moss and Travis Henry as my first two picks. Throw in McNabb in the 3rd and Anthony Thomas in the 4th and you can guess where my team has been sitting for the last three years. I started the league in rebuild mode.

From the 2002 draft I love this quote:4.02 38. Jacksonville Jaguars Robinson, Koren SEA WR Fri May 9 8:59:50 a.m. ET 2003 Nice young WR to go along with David Boston. My WR core is set.

Priceless! :penalty:

1.06 6. St. Louis Rams Vick, Michael ATL QB Tue Feb 3 4:27:08 a.m. ET 2004

Mike Vick + Full Season = I own you. :wall:

I took Barlow in the top 5-6 of the initial Z18 draft. :wall:

The good news is that I snagged Larry Johnson in the 7th and Thomas Jones in the 10th.

The bad news is that I traded Larry Johnson for WR Roy Williams.

You should've taken Larry Johnson instead of Tony Hollings.
On what basis?
Tony Hollings had potential, but he was picked up in the supplemental draft and I don't recall people losing sleep over deciding between him and Larry Johnson.
Hollings was my last pick that year in my local league. I was debating between him and some wr named Boldin. Wrong choice.
Round 9 (last round for us) of our keeper draft one of the owners couldn't make it and the guy who he sent to draft for him was less than impressive. I lean over and say, "hey, why not take this kid named Boldin?" I already had my last pick in mind and it wasn't AB. Needless to say I am still kicking myself.

The question I would have is did you have enough insight to hang on to the team you drafted or did you trade off some of your studs? If you didn't make a single trade....your starting roster in most formats would be quite impressive:

QB - C.Palmer

RB - S.Jackson

RB - C.Portis

WR - S.Smith

WR - A.Boldin

WR - S.Moss/B.Edwards

TE - Gates

K - Rackers

D - Bears

What is your current starting roster in this dynasty league?

I think I have about 3 left of the 20-some IDPs I picked in that draft  I think this thread just goes to show how quickly things change. We think we're doing the right things long-term in these drafts, but "right" can turn to "wrong" really fast.

4.08 - Burleson :bag: I was drinking the koolaid.

5.10 - Evans

11.12 - Calico :bag:

15.05 - T Suggs :loco:

I took Jesse Chatman > Turner :bag:
