Explosions at Boston Marathon (2 Viewers)

Oooof. Just found out "the guy in the wheelchair" Is the younger brother of a guy I played football with in High School.

My dentist is Iranian; he has lived here for 30 years. But he told me once that every time there is an event like this he prays that it was not caused by a Muslim, because he is afraid of the way he and his family will be treated. He said that after 9/11 it was awful- his son was bullied at school, he was treated rudely by a number of people, he was hassled by police. And of course, talk show personality Michele Malkin wrote a book called In Defense of Internment, in which, after she defended the imprisonment of Japanese Americans during World War II, she called for the internment of all Muslim Americans after 9/11. She was praised for this book by a number of other talk show hosts such as Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.

So this is why the government needs to be cautious- because people can be stupid, and prejudiced.
She called for profiling of Muslims, she did not call for internment. Thanks Mr. MSNBC for your spin.
Malkin argues in her book that there was justification for interning of Japanese-Americans during World War 2. So Tim's observation is not an absurd stretch. Many scholars have thoroughly debunked many of her claims and out right factual inaccuracies in the book, this has not stopped the fringe right from using it as masturbation material, you can buy it used on eBay but look out for the pages stuck together.
Tim's observation was a misstatement of fact. If Tim was not so anal about Fox News spinning up their viewer, I would not bother to point out Tim's hypocrisy when he spins up things with false statements.

hush....and listen

I say Peace on every post for a reason.

But today it is not about false flag or taxes or waco or OKC or drone strikes on weddings or anything else.

All I saw on videos today was a boom

people falling

people running away

and a sea of people in uniforms running TOWARDS the horror.

Ladies and Gentlemen thank you.

Within seconds people were pulling fences off the fallen, not worried about their own safety.

I see a bald guy with no shirt putting pressure on a bleeding leg of a fallen man, not worried about body fluid contact.

I see people being carried by others who have no reason to care about them

I see people I am proud of

Peace

For crying out loud!!!!! You guys are hung up on a SMALL FONT?!?!?!?
Then why did you change the font in that post? You are making LHUCKS look like a model poster here.
You're still hung up on it?!?!?!?
My God. I don't come around here often enough to know off hand what your shtick is, but please just stop. You made your original post about Iraq with the small point to make some kind of point in some douchy manner, and now having been called out on it, you're acting all obtuse like you were simply reporting another event. If you're going to be a #####, at least stand up for your right to be a ##### and be a #####. If you regret being a #####, instead of acting like a victim, maybe just drop it and let the rest of us participate in a thread about a bombing in Boston that has, among other things, taken the life of an 8 year old. Have some perspective.
I posted it because the incidents are simillar. I made the comment about it being in Iraq in small font because the death and injury numbers from the Iraq incidents were many times bigger, but being in Iraq the incidents are viewed to be smaller. It was a reflection of different perception of similar events, not an attempt to offend.
The events are not similar.
Terrorist bombings killing innocent civilians, likely carried out by organized terrorist groups. America and a country with a new government backed by the US. It may very well be the same group that carried it out. Not that Twitter is always right, but reports are this Saudi National that was hospitalized has now been arrested by the FBI.
Terrorist bombings happen all the time in Iraq. They don't here and so are Saudi Nationals doing the bombing in Iraq? Your buddy said it was Al Qaeda.
Al Qaeda carried out 9/11 and 15 of the hijackers were Saudi. The attacks in Iraq are at peak levels this last month or so. Terrorism is on the rise in Iraq as elections approach. Also, he isn't my buddy either. I don't know him.
What does the increase of terrorism in Iraq due to elections have anything to do with what happened in Boston today?
I already answered that above.I don't believe this incident should be viewed in isolation but as part of a serious international problem. On that note, I'm out, I don't want to offend or upset anyone here. Being a jerk was not my intent.

They just asked on CNN if they will have a Boston Marathon next year. Not only will they, I predict it will be the largest marathon ever.

Boston Global update from the Children's Hospital.

I have been at work all day, just opened the thread, 18 pages in and sad to see posters fighting with each other and being #######s to each other. Surprised? nope...

I don't know enough facts to make much in the way of statements other than my eyes are filled with tears for the people of Boston and outside the area. Some of the people injured have been training for months and months on end only to have a limb blown off today for their efforts. I am totally numb to this #### anymore and it seems to be getting more and more common which is disturbing. In he ME this stuff happens routinely, here not as much but it is slowly changing for the worse it seems.

The whole thing is depressing.

The news stations keep playing the video of the bomb going off & you see that poor runner going down
He got up and finished the marathon.
I keep hoping that the next one is a longer cut of the video and that somebody will show him any attention whatsoever.

Imagine how exhausted these people were and then faced with a bombing just as they were closing in on relief. Oh, your day is just getting started folks. WTF?

Menino must be in pretty bad shape. I know he had the broken leg but I haven't heard anything from him
Yeah he is broken and not running for re-election. I'm not surprised he is laying low. I'm sure he will be up and about over the next few weeks.

Great post, 100% agree. Guy said he saw a leg fly by his head and then ripped his belt off to try and stop the bleeding on the man who lost the leg, just incredible.

Wow. Just getting caught up from after work.

T & P to all injured or worse and their families. My sister qualified to run Boston next year. She would have been there today if not for a family event over the weekend. Chills. Can't imagine those families with young children who wetter hurt. So pointless.

The runner that fell down with the first blast was just interviewed by Steve Levy of ESPN on SportsCenter. 73 yrs old, he said he was fine and that the blast just knocked him off his feet. His ears are still ringing at 10PM eastern and he had no idea what happened other than he thought is was a bomb going off.

Damn. His injury was incredibly horrific ...has it been life-threatening?
Not sure. It was just posted on facebook.
Can't imagine living with the horror that man has gone through in his life and then to bear witness to this and do everything he can to save someone is amazing.

If this is the same "guy in the wheel chair" he lost both legs, that's life threatening.

I saw one, and then two more and he most definitely lost both legs :( The interview I linked a few minutes ago is the guy who pinched the arteries shut. He lost a lot of blood and I really hope he makes it.

The kid with the dark hair with the Asian chick pushing the wheelchair? In the pic he's missing his right leg, but the left is there and there is no visible sign that it was injured. Obviously, that doesn't mean it wasn't.

With a guy in a grey shirt with a cowboy hat? Then yeah, same guy and I thought the same thing until I saw two more pictures and saw him from a different angle.

Yeah - class of 1993.

Seems like Marc is going to be OK? I graduated with his older brother.

I really hope so. This whole thing is beyond horrific.

And now WBC is going to protest the funerals of those poor souls who didn't survive the bombings :( WTF is wrong with these #######s???

92 here. I'm not sure. From the photo which I now wish i hadn't seen, it looks worse than I originally heard.

:kicksrock:

What was his older brothers name?
