Explosions at Boston Marathon (1 Viewer)

The death total is up to 46, and the injured total has passed 300. talking about the incident in Iraq today.
Where is this?
In Iraq today.
You're sickening dude. You're everything that is wrong with this country.
Why is he sickening and everything wrong with America? Also, he is wrong in a sense. Those deaths and injuries in Iraq were not a single event. There were 20 separate bombings in Iraq today.
There's not much reporting about it. Most of the articles I've found all lump the death and injured totals together. Some say the bombings were in six different provinces. Have to dig pretty deep to find it was a series of 20 seperate bombing attacks.
I wonder if an 8 year old boy watching a marathon was one of those killed in Iraq today? You're pathetic.
I am perplexed by this reaction. One of the car bombs went off at a suburban bus stop right in front of a school. There very well may be dead children that were just trying to get an education. This isn't terrorists bombing other terrorists. Al Qaeda is trying to stop the upcoming Iraqi election.
What is so damn perplexing? You don't see the distinction between a terrorist bombing on foreign soil and a terrorist bombing on our own soil? Not to mention playing asinine games with the small font?

My dentist is Iranian; he has lived here for 30 years. But he told me once that every time there is an event like this he prays that it was not caused by a Muslim, because he is afraid of the way he and his family will be treated. He said that after 9/11 it was awful- his son was bullied at school, he was treated rudely by a number of people, he was hassled by police. And of course, talk show personality Michele Malkin wrote a book called In Defense of Internment, in which, after she defended the imprisonment of Japanese Americans during World War II, she called for the internment of all Muslim Americans after 9/11. She was praised for this book by a number of other talk show hosts such as Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.

So this is why the government needs to be cautious- because people can be stupid, and prejudiced.
She called for profiling of Muslims, she did not call for internment. Thanks Mr. MSNBC for your spin.
Malkin argues in her book that there was justification for interning of Japanese-Americans during World War 2. So Tim's observation is not an absurd stretch. Many scholars have thoroughly debunked many of her claims and out right factual inaccuracies in the book, this has not stopped the fringe right from using it as masturbation material, you can buy it used on eBay but look out for the pages stuck together.

I'm usually the first one to make fun of FB ####, but I thought this post by Patton Oswalt was spot on, at least for me.

Boston. ####### horrible.I remember, when 9/11 went down, my reaction was, "Well, I've had it with humanity."But I was wrong. I don't know what's going to be revealed to be behind all of this mayhem. One human insect or a poisonous mass of broken sociopaths. But here's what I DO know. If it's one person or a HUNDRED people, that number is not even a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the population on this planet. You watch the videos of the carnage and there are people running TOWARDS the destruction to help out. (Thanks FAKE Gallery founder and owner Paul Kozlowski for pointing this out to me). This is a giant planet and we're lucky to live on it but there are prices and penalties incurred for the daily miracle of existence. One of them is, every once in awhile, the wiring of a tiny sliver of the species gets snarled and they're pointed towards darkness. But the vast majority stands against that darkness and, like white blood cells attacking a virus, they dilute and weaken and eventually wash away the evil doers and, more importantly, the damage they wreak. This is beyond religion or creed or nation. We would not be here if humanity were inherently evil. We'd have eaten ourselves alive long ago.So when you spot violence, or bigotry, or intolerance or fear or just garden-variety misogyny, hatred or ignorance, just look it in the eye and think, "The good outnumber you, and we always will."

So what exactly is your complaint? That the U.S. media doesn't carry as big of story on the bombings in Iraq as they do on a bombing within the U.S.?
Why are you expecting me to complain about something? I've found that dozens of events similar to Boston happened today accross Iraq. That seems pretty relevant to bring up in this thread. I wish there were more details about what happened in Iraq, but there isn't much out there about it without digging deep.
Start a separate thread.
For each of the 26 bombing incidents?
Please go away.

A good friend of mine hangs out every year right where the first bomb went off. He skipped it this year but his friends went,2 were hit by shrapnel .One was knocked to the ground and didnt even notice he was hit until he saw blood. I have the same sick feeling i had on 9-11 ...so wrong ...so sad.

Glad your friend didn't end up going. Hope his friends are ok.

WFAN already using the "T" word.
Tea party?
Can we please get this jackass a nice long timeout?

Lots of folks I know racing and spectating there. Five from the 10k thread here. Heck, one of our guys had his wife and kids right in between the blasts. I'm still holding my breath on a couple from town here who we haven't heard about. And we get this crap?
We all hope for the best with your friends, but a "tea party" post is probably not the best target for your frustrations.

I see the difference and I also see the similarities.

T&P's go out to those affected by this tragedy. The only glimmer of hope that I can get out of this right

now is that Boston has some of he finest hospitals in the country for the dozens of people that are currently being treated.

I live in metro Boston and seeing all this footage and the graphic images...just a tragedy.

I was listening to some conspiracy podcast that was talking about an event was going to happen before or on tax day. I guess if you predict something enough times its gonna happen but i just started listening to it (No Agenda ) so I don't know their track record.

The first asinine post among many. But really, anyone popping on page one of this with that kind of crap deserves to be shown the door. Completely, utterly classless.

I was thinking something similar to this:

"It's times like these when we must remember our first responders and what they deal with. When hundreds of people fled the explosions in Boston today, many first responders rushed TO the scene to aid the wounded...not knowing if there was a 3rd bomb or any other possible threat. I highly respect anyone in such a position. Thoughts and prayers to the two who lost their lives and to the dozens who were injured."

For crying out loud!!!!! You guys are hung up on a SMALL FONT?!?!?!?
Then why did you change the font in that post? You are making LHUCKS look like a model poster here.
You're still hung up on it?!?!?!?
No...just find it pathetic that someone gets off acting like this on a message board.
If I have said something bannable, then get me banned. I accept it.

But if you're only issue is font size, then get a grip.

Damn. I grew up a few miles north of Boston, and know people that run every year and know more who go in every year to party and cheer friends on.

Dude I went to high school with was one of the people who lost his leg. He was a year younger than me, and while I wasn't friends with him, but we have a #### load of mutual friends.

Crap

It's Patriot's Day there. I missed what this is about...
How do you plan on making some money off of this? Fake charity like normal?
Have no idea what you're talking about but this certainly is not a thread to try and "be funny" in. Reported.
You know exactly what he's talking about and so do many of us here. It wasn't funny then and it isn't funny now, you scam artist.

Remember the feeling in America after 9/11? I hope this act of terrorism backfires on these *ussies. I hope citizens and politicians come together to make this country stronger and destroy our enemies both internal and external.

This type of violence irritates me greatly. I hate the thought of the innocent lives crushed by these explosions. The physical and mental trauma has to be so extreme.
Fear builds walls.

We will not destroy this mentality through violence. It is an endless cycle.

Random death is random death, always hard for those inside its sphere to deal with, but frankly, we have three or four 9/11's each year in drunk driving fatalities.

If we learn anything from our 9/11 response, its the conventional response failed.

I support strong intel, but more destruction. Of who? What? Where? When? And why? To inflict this same fear on a nation due to some wackadilloes will not stop this cycle, it will only add inertia to the spin.

True thoughts and prayers to the victims, their families and friends and all those justifiably tramuatized by this.

But I think we really need to start thinking about how we process these situations going forward.

Anybody else catch the lunatic asking whether this was "another false flag operation by homeland security to take away civil liberties and handguns off the street"?

Oof

ETA: I'm not sure how victims or families of victims don't go up to these people and just give them a good beating.

Not going to defend his little posting there...I think there was a way to bring it up better than he did.

But...you are coming off as only wanting to sling insults because you don't like what he posted...you have added absolutely nothing here other than calling him a tool and pathetic.

None of which is any better than what you think he is doing.

Some stream of consciousness:

Things like this make me appreciate life...hug my daughter one more time...feel somewhat helpless at the randomness in the world...reaffirm my committment to being part of the solution in the response rather than the problem...I remember that injustice and death and horror is commonplace for many in other parts of the world and I appreciate the luck of the draw where I find myself in a peaceful state able to make a good living in safety...this previous comment is all the more meaningful on tax day, where I otherwise lament the money I pay to the government, yet at times like these I appreciate the stability and safety and structure it offers me to live in peace and work and be paid and provide for my family...it reaffirms my belief in an impersonal God of principles, where one worships truth and goodness instead of a grandfatherly figure and that in times like these the randomness and terrible nature of folks is soon to be drowned out by the "godly" response of others who care, who love people, who give openly and freely, who sacrifice time and energy to help others...and again, most of all, i go back to appreciating my family and the time i have with them, in good health, happy, free, and safe...because times like these remind me that it can all be taken away, anytime, anywhere.

I just read an article recently about one of the victims of the Aurora shooting and how she has been harassed constantly through social media by these people claiming that it was all a government conspiracy. Those people are sick and stupid. How do those nutjobs get into a press conference like that?

I'm not a big fan of Deval's brand of politics but I like the guy
:goodposting:

Seems very capable and inspiring.
You should see him in real life. He looks like webster.

I get they cant have an open kimono on every fact right now. But you got the Wall Street Journal saying there were 5 other devices out there that didnt blow. I'd say thats important and thats something everyone should know at this point. Also - cut the bull you don't know how many are dead or hurt.
