"Explosive" RBs (1 Viewer)

Great pull on the all-time 20-yd TD runs... It is amazing and simply awe-inspiring to think that Chris Johnson could hit the Top-15 (All-Time!) in the 2010 season opener. Just two more sprints and he's there, tied with Ahman Green. Good God, he's only entering his 3rd season.

Would be interesting to see who has the highest avg of yard per TD carry (Min 10 TD's). Although its not perfect it could be a good indicator of explosiveness.
Don't have that, but here are the top 100 players in terms of most rush TD of 20 yds or more.
Divide that by # of carries and you've probably got a pretty good picture. If a guy (like Emmitt) breaks off 22 in 4409 carries (1/200 carries) that's not as explosive as (Sanders) 21 in 2936 (1/139) or (OJ Simpson) 20 in 2404 (1/120) or (Jim Brown) 21 in 2359 (1/112)... the more frequently you do it, the more explosive you are. Jim Brown did it almost TWICE as often as Emmitt. That's INCREDIBLE. I maintain Sanders, Simpson and Brown were the most explosive RBs to play. There are other RBs who had explosiveness, but they weren't able to be consistent with it - some couldn't be explosive and play full games (Norwood, Bradshaw, Bush), others couldn't play full seasons (Westbrook and Bo Jackson)... so those that maintained explosiveness carry after carry... that makes them tops in my book.Chris Johnson looks like he might end up being that type of RB. Felix Jones so far hasn't played a full season, so he may end up in the latter category. But those are IMO the two most explosive RBs currently playing in the NFL.ETA for putting Barry and Sanders instead of Sanders and Simpson ...

According to the list, didn't Barry Sanders have 30 in 3062 carries?

Sorry, I quoted Tony Dorsett's numbers and attributed them to Sanders... Sanders did have 30/3062 or 1/102.
