Fanduel/Draftkings Week 14 (1 Viewer)

Delanie Walker and Josh Gordon screwing me over big time today.

Had Jonathan Stewart and Lions D on 80% of my lineups though so I'm happy about that.

Well Hawkins and Stills screwed me, along with the decision to pull Williams when Jennings was announced as active. ISADFS

I was never a believer in Stills this week, but used him in a couple of my cash lineups due to ownership likelihood. Had Gordon in 2 cash lineups for the same reason. Hopefully I will be OK. Sitting at 100.9+KC DST+Ryan; 127.62+KC DST+Woods; 124.06+Baldwin+Gates+Bryant.

My 4th cash lineup with both those guys I'm done at 109.8 -- blech. Hopefully their ownership %'s (~55 and ~45 respectively) will allow me to squeak out something back on that one.

Really kicking myself over "diversifying" off of Leveon early this AM. I had him everywhere initially. Swapped him out for Foster a few spots. Not horrible, but not great either.

I have not had a losing week in NFL since starting DFS last season. I have had a few weeks where I won a small amount, most of the time I do well. This week should be my first week of losing and man it doesn't feel good! hahaha...

Stills, Reed, Gordon, Gore were all busts.. Taking Foster instead of Bell was another bad decision. Rough week for me!

So, huge overlays in the biggest GPP guaranteed pools, and THEN the site implodes and they have to refund that smaller % that was outside the cash. Is that a site-killer?

So I changed 1 lineup last second to include a Luck/TY stack, and man am I greatful for that (although I was nervous most of that game). That is likely going to be my saving grace and let me break even instead of tanking this week. Stills, Hawkins, Brees, Tannehill, Landry all messed up the majority of my lineups.

Again I'm greatful that this week I was going for a bankroll build in strictly minimal 50/50's, double ups, triple ups with 1 tournament lineup in so I think I caught a break there. Turns out I'm actually pretty good at this when I actually read up on other opinions instead of thinking that I can be king. Who woulda thought?

Doubt it. The majority was getting paid anyway. For the $250K contest this will cost them an extra $40,000. Kinda small when you look at the big picture.

In real good shape to break my fanduel cherry and win 250 tonight.

Played 4 teams, 3 had beckham and my best team didn't....go figure.

Jonathan Stewart and Derek Hagan freed up a ton of $ and Giants D was gold today

Where did you pull this number from? In any case, seems like the overlays will cost, ballpark, half the value of the tourneys. Refunding the half that don't hit cash means it will cost more on top of that. Looks like a 200k+ mistake in total.

We've seen overlays, we've seen site mishaps. We've never seen huge overlays and a site mishap resulting in refunds for a startup DFS.

I was only talking about the refund part of the big contest. They had 4357 entries of which 2750 will be in the payout zone. That leaves 1600 people who will get their $25 back.

Kicking myself for not trusting in the dumpster fire that is the Titans. I thought they could score a bit on the Giants since the Giants have been a train wreck against the run. The Titans are easily the worst team in the NFL right now.

Hopefully for them a 3rd party vendor was the cause of the site crash. At least then it should be the vendor kicking in the refunds.

Brutal week for me. Brees/Graham/Stills killed me... Reed/Gore/Andre Johnson didn't help either.

Hopefully Rogers/Lacy can salvage something for me tomorrow...

Looks like I'll do well this week on Fanduel thanks to both of the Bell's, Stafford, and the Loins D.

Draftkings is a loss, couldn't figure out how to put a decent lineup together there. Everything I tried looked terrible to me, I should have just stayed away.

Mett has been fine some weeks in fanduel, others he hasn't.

I felt pretty good about Hagan after 2nd half last week.

Stewart was the only one I liked in that paltry salary range.

I haven't had any luck finding the good cheap ones. I think that's the key since everyone has Calvin AJ Green Peyton Rodgers etc....frees up money to get the name guys. Surely this is a common thought.

Locker is going to mean I start any D facing him. I totally think he's one of the worst ever and I'm expecting the Jags D and Jets D to be cheap.

I love Kendall Wright and had to switch him out. Without Hunter, I'm going to go with him in a league or two assuming he's back.

Any WR facing the Titans has my attention. It was so ridiculous for their 8th DB (on site) to finally play today and be the one who hit WRs hard, batted a couple balls and Eli actually stopped going to Beckham. If pressed, I'm sure he would have, but the Titans CBs have been so bad "why bother in a blowout" is progress.

I highly doubt this

A reputable IT company might have been down two minutes while they switched to the backup server

I would guess the huge visitor totals overwhelmed them. There aren't that many IT guys in the world used to handling millions of visitors in a period of a few hours. Their site is about bum rushed. I would guess, instead, that they thought they could handle it and simply goofed. Tomorrow they spend enough money so it's not possible it happens again.

A high percentage of sites that increase traffic rapidly have the same problem. Best way I can describe it is a bum rush of visitors.

Gordon and my TE pick(Graham and Walker) hurt me but I will come out probably 20-35% up this week. Basically doing really well in cash games and zip in the GPPs I played.

That was cool that they're doing that. Depending on how tonight goes, I'm guessing I'm winning about $260ish on $90 wagered. Pretty solid.

They have an interesting referral program, kinda a pyramid setup where you get % paid back of wagers made by your referrals, their referrals, their referals referrals, etc, down to 6 degrees.

My thoughts after 1 week:

-The site was WAY too slow. Still is slow today right now with nothing going on. They need way more server power imo.

-The overlays were ridiculous. It was basically top 65% paid in GPPs, and then because of the site issues, no one loses. I'm not sure if they'll have more players next week or not... having the site crawl like that, some people won't be back. But others like free money, which is what it is right now, so I'm sure plenty will be back.

-If the site experiences the same problems next weekend, they might be forced to do as above again, basically turning these games into freerolls.

Personally, I think we should all get in on this action. Reminds me of :mansion: from years ago. I also think we should get a referral pyramid going to maximize it. I'm thinking there are maybe 2 weeks left of these ridiculous overlays. Eventually the scales will tip and then its just a crappy slow site that I probably won't want to play at. But for the next two weeks, I'm looking at it as free money.

If anyone wants to get a referral pyramid going my referral link is: https://www.fantasydraft.com/play/fbghulk. If there is interest we'll start a seperate thread to coordinate signups and make sure we all benefit.

They are paying out $250K on that contest. They're only collecting $25 * 2750 in entry fees (only from winners). Thats $68,750. So, that one game is a loss of a bit over $180K. Then there are the 2 other smaller contests they covered. I'm guessing they lost about $320ishK on the weekend.

Still, these sites expect to lose money out the gate.

I'm in the unenviable position of needing Ryan to score about 20-25 to get one of my cash lineups into the black, but no more than that lest he knock another one of my cash lineups out of the black. Unless, of course, he and Julio and Lacy combine to go crazy and I hit it big in one of my GPPs, which will likely really hurt my mini-cashes in other GPPs. But I need Ryan to hit in big with Roddy in my playoff game, but not go to Julio who is on my opponent's team. And I have Cobb in a couple GPPs but I'm facing him in the playoffs and I have Nelson in that team. But then I also have Bryant in most of my GPPs so I need a bunch of FGs from him but my playoff opponent also has him.

In short, I have no idea what I'm supposed to be pulling for tonight.

Bah, Gordon, Graham, Stills, and 49ers D killed me. Sucks when you have score around 110 because your other players were good but got basically nothing from two or three positions so overall you're shafted.

Oh well, on to next week.

If Lacy can get 20+ and, in addition, Rogers can muster 15+, I may be able to break even.

Note to self: Never play Brees or Graham again. :hot:

Josh Gordon will be worth every penny this week! Greg Toler can't cover his own mouth, let alone this stud.
Is Davis out?
Yes, he's out.
:tebow:

I'm all in on Gordon then...
yeah I think I am going to try to get Gordon in all my lineups
Yeah, you and likely 60-70% of FanDuel.
I'm thinking about removing Gordon for this very reason. Really don't wanna do it since I could see him being WR1 this week but with so much high-quality options at WR I might try to avoid the majority play here.
Was gonna yank Gordon for Beckham. Sure wish I had now. Oh well.

How much cheaper do you think Brees gets this week? I may still buy him vs the bears
I probably wouldn't play him in a cash game no matter how cheap. Maybe in GPP though if he's ~7K. No way he gets that low though.
I think there's money to be made following teams around that have quit. Bears fall into that category. And they have no LBs or S that can stay with Graham (or anyone else).

I might take a chance on him in a few lineups.

Very interesting point re: Bears. I thought CAR was a cake matchup, but to your point, they haven't "quit" yet.

Some interesting/tough choices to make if you're playing the Mon-Thu games:

Code:
RB	Steven Jackson	6600RB	James Starks	5300RB	'quizz Rodgers	4900RB	Devonta Freeman	4800WR	Stedman Bailey	6300WR	Michael Floyd	6400WR	Davante Adams	6000WR	Kenny Britt	6400WR	John Brown	6400WR	Larry Fitz	6400WR	Harry Douglas	5900WR	Tavon Austin	5300

Who knows what will happen with the Rams WRs this week but Austin sure looks like a potential bargain at that price.

I mean, the week is over. Not really too much helpful strategy talk after the fact.
That's a good point. Hadn't considered it. Just saw 2-3 pages of stuff from yesterday and today and and thought "Where's the actual strategy stuff"..

My bad.. As you were, with your winnings or losings..

I'm sitting in first place right now in the FantasyDraft $100K contest.

I need a low-scoring game tonight to stay there. If Eddie Lacy scores more than 27.5 points, I get bumped out of first. That's the biggest threat, but I also need to dodge Mason Crosby (26 pts), Packers D (35 pts), Andrew Quarless (38 pts), Randall Cobb (39.5 pts), Jordy Nelson (40.4 pts), Julio Jones (42 pts), and Harry Douglas (44.5 pts).

I also have to doge some two-player combos (e.g., 48.4 pts from Eddie Lacy and Mason Crosby) and three-player combos (e.g., 79.8 pts from Aaron Rodgers, Randall Cobb, Mason Crosby).
