What does it matter - just make something up..................North/SouthEast/WestFreaks/AddictsIt's not rocket scienceI know there was a thread going back to last year showing fantasy league names and division names. Basically everyone posted what their league and division names were called. I tryed looking for this but not having much luck.
i used to be in a league like this; sometrimes corny, but fun.you can do something like movies, where the divisons are studio names and the teams are named for films. Is this a new league? If not then let the league champion come up with the three division names. We do this each year and the league champion come up with a theme and we choose our team names based on this theme. The division names come from this theme also.
No love for Ole??Ours is the Four Horsemen Fantasy Football League with a Ric Flair Division and an Arn Anderson Division. If we ever add a third division, it will be the Tully Blanchard Division.
i don't feel that strongly about it, but it does seem to add an element of luck over skill if you play the teams in your division more than the others. is that the kind of issue you have?Am I the only one who doesn't like dividing leagues into divisions?
In long standing leagues (6+ years), I really like the rivalries it helps create. Including div vs div and conf vs conf. Also a weighted schedule has you playing division opponents more often. Good stuff. In newer leagues I'd rather not see divisions/conferences.Am I the only one who doesn't like dividing leagues into divisions?
Yup. I'd rather have all of the best teams make the playoffs, not the mediocre teams that just happened to play in a weak division.i don't feel that strongly about it, but it does seem to add an element of luck over skill if you play the teams in your division more than the others. is that the kind of issue you have?Am I the only one who doesn't like dividing leagues into divisions?
You mean... like the NFL?Yup. I'd rather have all of the best teams make the playoffs, not the mediocre teams that just happened to play in a weak division.
Yeah, it irks me in the NFL, too, when the 7th best AFC team sits at home when they would have been the 3rd or 4th best NFC team. I'd much rather see the 12 best teams in the playoffs than the 6 best from the AFC and the 6 best from the NFC. Remember in 2004 when the NFC sent two 8-8 squads and the AFC had three 9-7 squads that sat at home? You mean... like the NFL?Yup. I'd rather have all of the best teams make the playoffs, not the mediocre teams that just happened to play in a weak division.(just kidding... nothing to back this up)
I love Ole, but we often shorten it to the Flair and Anderson division when making references. Ole suffers the misfortune of sharing Arn's last name.No love for Ole??Ours is the Four Horsemen Fantasy Football League with a Ric Flair Division and an Arn Anderson Division. I agree with this. We've been around for 13 years, and there's a strong rivalry between divisions to the point where people talk trash about the other division all year and pull for division mates in the playoffs. In long standing leagues (6+ years), I really like the rivalries it helps create. Our league is similar -- Super Bowl winning coaches who are now dead. Ewbank, Landry, Lombardi, Stram. We use HOF coaches
Lombardi, Landry, Halas Divisions

In my local league we use Proletariat and Bourgeoisie to split the top six and bottom six based on previous year's standings. This means nothing other than the basis for pretentious intellectually-arrogant jokes.

Proletariat is a word that means "lower class". Bourgeoisie is a word that means "upper class" (well, it technically correlates better with the middle class than the upper class, but the point is that it's a higher class than the Proles). The bottom six finishers from last year are in the "lower class" division, and the top six finishers from last year are in the "upper class" division. In addition, in Marxist theory, the proletariat interests run diametrically opposed to those of the bourgeoisie, which means the two classes are in constant conflict, which fits very well with the idea of competing divisions. In my local league we use Proletariat and Bourgeoisie to split the top six and bottom six based on previous year's standings. Listen, strange commissioners lyin' in ponds distributin' divisions is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical fantasy football ceremony. Derived from:Proletariat is a word that means "lower class". Please tell me theres a team in the league called the Minnesota Wrecking Crew!I love Ole, but we often shorten it to the Flair and Anderson division when making references.
