Fantasy Pros Takes a Look back at 2010 rankings (1 Viewer)

Great work, fellas. I'm pretty surprised by Eisenberg's placement. Wouldn't have seen that coming.

what's the difference between 2010 and 2010 Draft???
2010 looked at all 16 weeks one by one. About a million data points. 2010 Draft was just each of our final rankings before the first game was played. I find the 2010 study a better representation of things personally.

You want to see total dominance...click the link, then sort by kicker.
really everyone there stunk with kickers. (Except Herman of course)The % is pitiful. It's like woohoo I got 37%..cmon.Why is that?

I read the methodology page and expert accuracy scoring.

It's preseason so DD (to use a name) throws a list of 32 kickers. I don't see how he could be so low at 31%? Can you break that down for me some? I'm not following their logic.

Herman is a stud...been using his kicker rankings for years.

Is that whitepaper still around...that was sweet too.

woah

big props to herman especially.

Arguably the most remarkable showing came from FootballGuys’ kicker specialist, Mike Herman. For those that aren’t aware, Herman is a devotee of all things kicker related and even operates his own blog, appropriately named Kickology. It’s only fitting, therefore, that he lapped the field in the one category he submitted rankings: Kicker. Herman’s accuracy score, 76.3%, was so far and away the #1 rating (#2 was 46.1%) that we’ll be requesting he submit to a doping test within the next 24 hours. In all seriousness, congrats are in order because this was an incredible performance. Now might not be a bad time to ask FootballGuys for a raise, Mike.

Great stuff guys! David, do you ever keep past history among the FBG staff for pre-season start ranking accuracy? The stat side of me is wondering what type of trends you, Wood, and Henry have over the last few years. That tidbit of information could be used to help adjust rankings in the projection dominator. :D

Kudos to Herman for cleaning up the Kicker rankings by a large margin, as well as Wood for doing fairly well in the defenses. The WR rankings are incredible. Great job you guys and one of the reasons I have been a subscriber for almost a decade now!!!

Edit: In addition, hey Wood, any chance we can get your defensive rankings added to the Projections Dominator???

Love this stuff. I can't say that I'd put a lot of weight against the draft analysis though given all the injuries and things that can happen during the year, but it's great coupled with their weekly accuracy ratings. Five years from now, we'll know who the real gurus are, which I guess will be too late to help me with my draft this weekend!

Nice job to everyone, especially Herman and Dodds. Speaking of 5 years from now, let's see if this Dodds trend continues:

"He finished in the top 5 of our weekly accuracy assessments in both 2009 & 2010 to go along with his #2 rating in this analysis. In other words, of all the experts we’ve tracked, he’s been the most consistent at providing accurate advice."

I owe my Tampa Mike and Hakeem Nicks acquisitions last year to FBG and this forum (changed my opinion enough to snag them in my draft), so thanks and keep up the great work!

the fact that fully 15 of the 34 total experts that were ranked work for footballguys may have something to do with how many footballguys experts were ranked near the top (just sayin')

I don't think that is really fair. Sig was tops for QBs in the weekly predictions and Dodds finished 2nd overall on the weekly in addition to quality pre=season results. I follow several sites - this thing will shift a bit from year to year - but FBG provides some excellent analysis. Dodds - top finishes the last three years as well.

you can adjust rankings by using only selected staffers, I do it every year when I'm benchmarking vs. my own.For example, when it comes to kickers, I basically only use Herman's.

Wow Herman. does the VBD app use his rankings? Can we make a button for that? :banned:
At the other end of the spectrum, at 29% for RB, can we make sure to exclude poor Mark Wimer's rankings?Seriously though, great job by FBG, though it would have been great to see more sites involved, like John Hansen and the guys from Fantasy Guru, or other prominent sites..........

I only wish that the same energy devoted to this measuring stick could have gone into getting the subscriber content in a timely matter.

Strong showing by Matthew Berry :bag: :bag: :bag: :bag: :bag:
And the whole ESPN crew in general hahaha I'm not suprised, ESPN got what they wanted-- A summer full of drama surrounding the labor negotiations. I refused to tune into ESPN all summer because it's like watching a soap opera. This jsut proves how much they suck at everything except marketing. Thanks FBG..

Yahoo dominated at RB!
While they did well and had 3 of the top 4 in RB rankings, they did not dominate with respect to percentages. Nobody destroyed the others at any position the way Herman did at kicker. He was more than 30% better than anyone. That is domination.
