I'm assuming that was a corporate America jab where we all train our whole lives to go and be somebody and then...it's a small office, typewriter/computer, see you with those reports in a few weeks as you've sold your soul for steady but meager pay.Mike Milligan, accountant.![]()
Hanzee looked like Bob from Twin Peaks for a bit.
Lots of episodes of Fear Factor on DVD out there for you.I didn't care for the final episode at all but with the UFO in the last episode I was ready for Noah's Ark to roll in this week. Truly once that scene happened in the midst of a pretty intense gun fight, it really took the story and show off track IMO.
I still love the previous 9 and the build up but this went kind of nowhere. We knew there was never gonna be a happy ending and I didn't cry a tear in that meat locker, who was anyone rooting for here outside the Deputy?
The last 15 minutes tonight borders on Inside Llewyn Davis for thrills.
This show is about a gazillion times better than most of the stuff out there, even stuff that comes with uber high praise like Mad Men which I always felt was overrated. This show really delivered the goods most weeks. Ending not great I would say but if that's the story then that's the story.
They probably played "Come Sail Away", "Children of the Sun" and "Starman", right?I liked last week a lot better, but like MOP said, way better than anything else on TV.
Just realized last week that Patrick Wilson, who plays Lou, is the brother of a local news anchor, and their cover band Van Wilson plays local venues/events sometimes...I actually saw them a few years ago in St Pete. All season long I was trying to place where I recognized Patrick from other than a few movies...then I remembered seeing him belt out 80s medleys as the lead signer in the band. Hilarious.
what was the connection? I didn't see season 1 yetThe Hanzee/season one connection stuff is pretty interesting
What was ironic about it?The irony though in Danson's little speech towards the end, that little family managed to stay together where as the Gerhardts not so much as it turned out.
A young Mr. wrench and probably a young Mr. Numbers.what was the connection? I didn't see season 1 yetThe Hanzee/season one connection stuff is pretty interesting
Danson says something like "this is what's important, being with family" or I think it was close to that. After the montage of brothers dead earlier in the show it seemed to tie in with his little speech towards the end was all I meant. Felt like irony as they had been chasing the Gerhardts all season and in the end that entire family except for the youngest is wiped out. What was ironic about it?The irony though in Danson's little speech towards the end, that little family managed to stay together where as the Gerhardts not so much as it turned out.
I'm glad someone else brought him up because Danson is like a worn in pair of shoes, very calming and enjoyable to watch on TV/screen. At the same time I realized Danson has his limits. His best work since I saw him on Damages for 1 season where he played a bad guy and did it very well.Admit that I'm surprised how well Danson played the part.
Connection to season 1 was pretty neat.I know some are not big on Sepinwall, but his review is pretty spot on and makes me appreciate the finale even more. And I obviously missed the season 1/Hanzee connection, but pretty cool.

Found this site earlier for season one.. other then a few popups at times it worked so far to re-watch the first 3 episodes of season 1.A little late to the party but had no problem binge watching once I tuned in. This is movie quality television. The acting has been thru the roof all the way around. Dunst I want to choke, Danson I want to slap at times, and the Mike Mitchell character is something to behold.
I have really enjoyed and want so bad to go back now and watch season 1...$2 a pop but I might cave.
After I watch the finale tonight maybe I can drift back thru this thread and at least try and ask WTF the Bleeps are that just magically appear. It's funny, it somehow doesn't take away from the rest of the story but if I didn't know better it replaced the ability to allow the story to naturally conclude. It almost felt like we needed to throw in a little Independence Day for good measure but I tried to block it out and not even think about it. Maybe that's the point but I doubt it.
That was a great line."You the kid Otto had with the maid?"
What's great about both seasons is how good the acting is all around. From Danson and Dunst, to actors I've never seen before. They cast and direct so well.Admit that I'm surprised how well Danson played the part.
They were setting that up from the beginning. I loved that Kansas City was always shown as running like a cold cooperation, not like a gang at all.I'm assuming that was a corporate America jab where we all train our whole lives to go and be somebody and then...it's a small office, typewriter/computer, see you with those reports in a few weeks as you've sold your soul for steady but meager pay.Mike Milligan, accountant.![]()

Your face is a poor excuse for your face.Wasnt a big fan of the final two episodes. Sure, its better than most things on TV, but thats a poor excuse for wrapping up a great series with less than stellar episodes.
a bad marriage IS like deathBig fan of asking for a divorce minutes before you die
Evidently Hawley is doing a mini-series adaptation of Cat's Cradle. Will be interesting to see if he pulls that off. What's great about both seasons is how good the acting is all around. I reckon he did.So did Hanzee end the two punks who were beating up the deaf kids on the baseball diamond?
That book has been on my to-do list. I'm on it.Evidently Hawley is doing a mini-series adaptation of Cat's Cradle. Good post, agree with your thoughts, mirrors much of mine. Episode 9 is basically the finale and the episode 10 is mostly a last go around the track and waive to everyone. Sensational television though, left me wanting even more, that's usually good.i didn't love the finale.
They did throw some weight towards an unreliable narrator, as opposed to an omniscient narrator
Mike Milligan's fate reminded me of The Shield. It was funny and I get the jab at corporate America, but the way they stitched it on just seemed too unrealistic to have any impact....
Ted Dansons speech at the end would have been good for an average show, but compared to the performances we have seen this season, it was anti-climactic...
Great show....one of the best seasons of TV I have seen
Most of the finale had kind of an Epilogue feel to it. I think that's what I liked so much about it. It was a great ride, and they pulled our cart in to the port at the end there. Which was nice of them. I don't always want to jump out at the peak.Good post, agree with your thoughts, mirrors much of mine. Easily best thing I have seen since BB which wasn't that long ago but I would even measure it to a couple of the Gus centered episodes like Mexico and the hospital scenes, this was pretty incredible. I wish they wouldn't tack things on though like the big saucer and stuff like that.
