1. The chariot fight scene in Gladiator is pretty awesome. I also really like the scene in Crash where the guy shoots the blanks and the little kid isnt hurt. Still not sure how this movie seemed to win an oscar a year late...

2. When the x wings come over the water in the force awakens gets me every time.

3. I absolutely hate Napoleon Dynamite, but I do enjoy the dance scene.

4. The hockey puck scene at the end of Running Scared(not the billy crystal gregory hines movie) is hard to watch, but kind of awesome.

5. I love when Pierce Brosnan rolls the three smoke bombs in the art exhibit room in thomas crown affair.

6. Always been kind of partial to the chase scene at the end of Mission impossible 2. I also really like the chase scene in point break. Although lots of that is on foot.

1. No Country For Old Men - Final Scene where Tommy Lee Jones is talking to his wife (Tess Harper)

https://youtu.be/deJhEcB9whY

or the scene where the younger man's wife (Kelly Macdonald) is talking to Javier Bardem and she tells him he doesn't have to do this

https://youtu.be/C-iQldPiH64

2. The opening montage of Up

https://youtu.be/8mzsU2O8tuU

3. The scene where Casey Affleck sees his former wife in Manchester By The Sea (for otb)

https://youtu.be/gfaow4Ydzno

4. The scene where Odile sings on the subway in Band Of Outsiders

https://youtu.be/_hi4JwRU-Sg?t=68

5. I don't know if it's my favorite, but the scene where Sean Connery dies gripping his cross in The Untouchables while opera plays in the background is pretty sad, angering, and powerful.

https://youtu.be/YAQlai6TaT0?t=2

6. Car/Foot chase scene - Pulp Fiction with Marcellus Wallace chasing down Butch. Cut to scene with Zed's Dead.

Can’t do all the categories but the opening scene from inglourious basterds (up to shosanna running away) is an absolute masterpiece and my all time favorite.  Though the opening scene from momento is really close.

1. From All Quiet on the Western Front, when the French charge the German trench.

2. From Avengers: Endgame, when Cap shows up at the end and gives Sam his shield.

3. Hate is a strong word. I don't care for The Deer Hunter but I like the scene when Mike goes back to Viet Nam to find Nick.

4.  Can't find the clip, but James Garner's character's memory flooding back in Mr. Buddwing.

5. From The Untouchableswhen they recruit George Stone.

6. From Smokey and the Bandit: "Jumping Mulberry Bridge". Not just the car chase but also Buford T. Justice's interaction with the local police involved.

1. Best picture winner scene... La Marseillaise scene in Casablanca.

2. Popcorn flick... Die Hard when Bruce Willis is crawling through the air ducts.

3. Movie that I hate... Not the most high brow thing, but sheep story from Almost Heroes.

4. I'm not sure what qualifies as not well known, but I'll go for Bette Davis watching her husband have a heart attack in The Little Foxes (maybe decently well-known, but I feel like that is an underwatched classic).

5. John Cleese for the Bond reference for his role as Q... favorite scene would be "What have the Romans ever done for us?" from Life of Brian.

6. I'm not sure if it really counts as a car chase (at least in the physical sense, but he's certainly trying to escape in other senses), but Toby Dammit drunkenly driving around the streets of Rome in Fellini's Toby Dammit segment of Spirits of the Dead is my favorite car racing scene. French Connection for pure car chase.

1. Favorite scene in a best picture Oscar winning film.

Michael realizes the traitor was Fredo

2. Favorite scene in a popcorn flick.

Welcome to Earth

3. Favorite scene in a movie you hate.

Jack and Rose Make-out Scene (hand on the steamy window of a car)

4. Favorite scene in a movie that isn't well known.

Bobby Meets the Family ("Pieces of April")

5. Favorite scene in any movie with an actor/actress that was in a Bond movie.

The Golden Girl

6. Favorite movie scene that involves a car chase.

Carey Grant & Grace Kelly - "To Catch a Thief"

Either for #2 or #4:   Scene in Sleeping with the Enemy when Julia Roberts is on the phone with 911 and is staring at the "enemy" and tells 911 that she just shot an intruder.  The look on his face when he realized he is about to get shot is hilarious.

2. Avenger's Endgame - "On your left."

3. Titanic - "I want you to draw me like one of your French girls."

4. In America - "Say goodbye to Frankie, dad."

5. The Untouchables - "Yeah, I got him."

6. Terminator 2 - "Come with me if you want to live."

This was my second pick for The Untouchables, but I didn't know if Connery was actually in it, and I remember the other one more vividly, so...
He wasn't.  I didn't interpret it to mean they had to be in the scene....just that it was a scene from a movie they were in.

After re-reading, I think I may have messed up the instructions.

Don't think this qualifies as a car chase since no one's chasing them, but I really got into this scene from Foul Play when it came out.
Foul Play is an underrated movie that you can't find anywhere.  I haven't seen it in so long I might be remembering it too fondly....hahhahaa

The cast alone carried it. Chevy and Goldie were at the top of their games, Burgess Meredith was...Burgess Meredith, even little old couple in the back seat were great. It's probably a little dated but a pleasant snapshot of the 70's.

whoa.

ya know, to those who have not seen this flick, it might be puzzling as to what caused such a cataclysmic schism between these two, to bring them to such a shattering moment ... even taken in that light, with not forethought, the performances are still  phenomenal.

but when you understand what led to to this scene - all of the heaviness that preceeded it - well, it absolutely crushes you.

heart and soul in total shambles - the most powerfully evocative scene i've ever sat through, and each time -EACH time! - it hits me like the first time i sat through it.

those are merely words ^ because i honestly don't have any.

1. Favorite scene in a best picture oscar winning film.
Lawrence of Arabia. Favorite scene : Lawrence convinces Auba Adu Tayi (Anthony Quinn) to join the Arab revolt. It was mostly Quinn but Lawrence (O'Toole) learning Tayi's buttons and then pushing them was brilliant.  LINK

Runner up: General Allenby interviewing Lawrence for the post. "I know you're an educated man Lawrence. It says so in your dossier." LINK

1. Favorite scene in a best picture oscar winning film.

La Marseilles from Casablanca - many of the cast are in fact exiled French and the tears are real.

Or...pick anything from All About Eve.

2. Favorite scene in a popcorn flick.

Welcome, to Jurassic Park - you knew movies had just changed forever

3. Favorite scene in a movie you hate.

I guess the planet collision scene in Melancholia was kind of cool.

4. Favorite scene in a movie that isnt well known.

They Shall Not Grow Old - the transition from black & white to color. It was breathtaking in 3! on the big screen.

5. Favorite scene in any movie with an actor/actress that was in a Bond movie.

Dark Phoenix vs Professor X

6. Favorite movie scene that involves a car chase.

Terminator 3 - absolute mayhem

1. Rohan arrives at Minas Tirith, in Return of the King. I still get chills when I hear those horns.

2. I actually have 2 different ones here. First, in the first Transformers film, when that blue and red semi truck pulls up, the grill splits, and in a matter of moments, Optimus Prime stands up.

Second, in Godzilla (2014), the main character has succeeded in destroying the Muto’s nest, but the female spots him and prepares to mete out revenge. Suddenly there’s an eerie bluish-white glow shining through the gloom, traveling upwards along what turns out to be the King’s tail, up his spines, and finally out his mouth as what might have been the coolest Atomic Breath attack I’ve seen.

3. The guy pinging off the propeller in Titanic. Never cared much for the “French Girl” scene, though I was raised fairly sheltered.

4. Better Off Dead, honestly the whole movie is criminally underrated, but the scene where he’s skiing with Monique, she says that they have language lessons, and initially he thinks they’re going over French. She responds, “The international language,” making him realize that she loves him.

5. Christopher Lee’s role as Saruman, specifically him trying to waylay the Fellowship at Caradhras in the first film. The guy was the best villain.

6. Terminator 2, the motorcycle and truck chase scene. Iconic. I’m going to have to go watch it again sometime.

This scene still gets me.

1. Favorite scene in a best picture oscar winning film.

Unforgiven when he walks into the bar and shoots up the joint.

2. Favorite scene in a popcorn flick.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail (since i can't squeeze it anywhere else haha) - Black Knight segment

3. Favorite scene in a movie you hate.

At Long Last Love - There is actually no favorite scene.  I just like to show my disdain for this movie.

4. Favorite scene in a movie that isnt well known.

Goon.  His first fight.  "Hey, my brother is gay"

5. Favorite scene in any movie with an actor/actress that was in a Bond movie.

Sean Connery.  Liked Finding Forrester any part.

6. Favorite movie scene that involves a car chase.

Boat scene in James Bond Live & Let Die.  Boats are the cars of the sea.

1. Favorite scene in a best picture oscar winning film.

2. Favorite scene in a popcorn flick.

3. Favorite scene in a movie you hate.

4. Favorite scene in a movie that isnt well known.

5. Favorite scene in any movie with an actor/actress that was in a Bond movie.

6. Favorite movie scene that involves a car chase.
1.  Silence of the Lambs -  Lecter's intro.    Love the walk down the corridor and the slow pan to see Hannibal standing there politely, then the ensuing exchange with him and Starling.

2.  Jaws - Indianapolis monologue.

3.  Hate is a strong word, and usually if I hate something I don't finish it.   First thing that popped into my mind was Yoda vs. Dooku in Attack of the Clones.

4.   Blue Ruin -  revenge scene.    I really loved this movie, and it's core premise of what if it's just average Joe trying to get revenge on somebody, not a Liam Neeson type.   Director went on to make Green Room which is another that popped in mind, but I thought this was less known.

5.  Alien - If said actor has to be in the scene, then chest burster.  If not, then my first answer was Viper in the ducts.

6.  T2 -  Blurring the definition of "car", but the semi vs. Harley chase is still dope.    If it has to be car, then I will admit that Fury Road has grown on me a tad.

Such a great progression of Harley chasing semi chasing dirt bike that switched to semi chasing Harley. Honorable mention: the "car chase" at the end that included everything but an actual car. Also a great progression Helicopter chasing police van to semi chasing beater. "Go faster!" "This is the vehicles top speed."

1. William Munny confronts Little Bill in the tavern- Unforgiven

2. Rocky IV training in Russia montage

3. The freeway action scene in Matrix Reloaded.

4. The opening scene of TheLast Black Man in San Francisco where we are introduced to the city

5. Not sure what scene to even go with since there are so many but it’s definitely from Hot Fuzz

6. To Live and Die in LA

I didn’t look at any answers before I went and I now see Unforgiven was quite popular for question 2. I was debating between that or the Baptism/Settling of all family business scene in Godfather.

1. William Wallace Speech before the Battle of Stirling in Braveheart

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2vW-rr9ibE

2. Opening of Raiders Of The Lost Ark

3. Car crash rescue in Crash with Matt Dillon and Thandie Newton (love the music there, too and I don't hate the film, just think it's overrated)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9E8MwrvxSM

4. Nastassja Kinski riding/walking through New Orleans along with the classic Giorgio Moroder soundtrack in Cat People

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5wR9nfyVmg

5. Malone (Connery) dying scene in The Untouchables

6. Last 20 minutes of The Road Warrior

Second this one for the Oscar scene. Really hard to do this but the first one that always comes to mind. Close seconds are  Robin Williams scene in the park telling Will what’s up and opening of Saving Private Ryan.

Popcorn movie: Bane beating up Batman or opening sequence for Mad Max Fury Road.

Have to think on the others.

The scene I picked, when Muny & the kid talk about killing a man and then he hears of Ned's death is maybe my favorite scene of any movie ever....the scenery and the simple but profound dialogue which runs the gamut of sadness, guilt, pride, fear and rage all within a couple of minutes.  Eastwood goes from recollecting his own past as a killer to teaching the kid about life to thinking he is finally about to get paid and be done with this mess to then realizing his best friend is dead to then sinking back into the black hole of alcoholism and murderous rage.

Adding to that is one of my favorite shots:

It's dark and pouring out and you see an empty Whiskey bottle thrown down into the street.

And you know in a few minutes, all he*ll is gonna break loose....

1. Favorite scene in a best picture oscar winning film.

Ballet number that concludes An American in Paris

2. Favorite scene in a popcorn flick.

Parkour chase through the Madagascar construction site in Casino Royale

3. Favorite scene in a movie you hate.

Pod race in Star Wars Episode 1  (I'm not sure about this since I haven't watched the movie since it came out)

4. Favorite scene in a movie that isnt well known.

Opening tracking shot from Absolute Beginners

5. Favorite scene in any movie with an actor/actress that was in a Bond movie.

Robert Shaw's monologue about the USS Indianapolis from Jaws

6. Favorite movie scene that involves a car chase.

The Monaco scene from Grand Prix (if a race counts as a car chase)

The car chase in Nice from Ronin (if Monaco doesn't count, same director)

If I was to do this again with older films, I would say...

1. They Call Me Mr. Tibbs interrogation from In the Heat of the Night

2. The massive bar brawl in Dodge City

3. Cimmaron is a pretty terrible best picture winner but there is a land rush scene that is really epic in scale, one of those scenes with hundreds of extras on horses that had to be insane to orchestrate

4. The Nichols Brothers dance scene from Stormy Weather

5. The poker game in The Sting

6. Basically the entirety of The General (cheat maybe since the chase is between trains but the trains do have train cars)
