I remember his reaction to the accusation just reeking of, "Oh yeah, well, prove it," which to me meant that he probably did it, but knows they can never prove it. Still a great record, regardless of who wrote those songs.Although they say he stole a bunch of those songs from Los Lobos. Still great though
It was just 1 song. He stole the other songs from African records (according to some).I remember his reaction to the accusation just reeking of, "Oh yeah, well, prove it," which to me meant that he probably did it, but knows they can never prove it. Needs better bait.On his own? I don't know if it's his best song, but "Kodachrome" is the best single record he ever released. Even with his mannered singing of the word "colors", it may be the least pretentious thing that twerp ever put out.
Not fishing at all. I don't know what happened after he and Art split, but most of his stuff just got boring.........at least "Kodachrome" has some interesting things going on with the instrumentation.Needs better bait.On his own? Valerie Simpson sings great backup vocals on that song."50 Ways" is my favorite solo Simon song from list.

ThisI mean, all of the songs listed are great, but none as good as The Obvious Child from The Rhythm of the Saints.

Do you have an idiotic post quota or something? All those songs suck. Simon and Garfunkel had a few good tunes.
The version from Central Park is excellent. In fact, just about everything from that show trumps the studio recordings.Graceland. Tough one though.

also great versions of Cecilia, The Coast, and I Know What I Know- each IMO better than the original. The version from Central Park is excellent. In fact, just about everything from that show trumps the studio recordings.Graceland. Tough one though.![]()
Love the Obvious Child from that show.
Haunting. The type of lyrics that go unnoticed while you listen to a song for 30 years just admiring the melody. Then one day, completely unawares, the words hit you over the head like a hammer at the exact moment in life when they were meant to be heard. Not the first time Paul Simon has done that to me...Not sure these lyrics are exact - but what great writing
I knew a father who had a son
He longed to tell him all the reasons for the things he'd done
He drove a long way just to explain
He kissed his boy while he lay sleeping and headed home again
I don't like Paul Simon's solo music, simple as that.Do you have an idiotic post quota or something? All those songs suck. Simon and Garfunkel had a few good tunes.
I loved the album Bridge Over Troubled Water when I was a little kid, and Cecilia was my favorite.Cecilia.
