I'm just glad that my affinity for FF does not take away from my enjoyment in watching one of the best QBs of my generation. The day FF takes away from appreciating the players that give their heart and soul to the game is the day I no longer play FF. Loved watching Favre and sorry that the ride ended.Im just glad i didnt own this dude in any of my dynasty leagues.
Key word...organization. The Pats have had the most success over the last few years than any team in the NFL. Didn't really think that was debatable. Yes the Giants were the best team in 2007.Moss didn't play for the giants last yearMoss was not coming to Green Bay this year. Those rumors, were just that rumors. Moss was not going to leave the best organization with the best quarterback to come to a team with a QB on his last legs. Plus Favre had plenty of weapons now so this is NOT the reason why he retired.Timing ....Day after Moss resigns with the Pats![]()

Based off of one game.......if thats the case then David Tyree is a fantasy #1 heading into next year. The funny thing is, you could still make the argument the Packers might still have the best qb in the division.Ding Dong the witch is dead, the wicked witch is dead!Kidding aside, as much as I hate the Packers, I respect them and Favre. He's been great for their franchise (wish he was a Bear). Its funny that he decided to retire the one year when there was the least talk of him retiring.
Yeah...and Elway was dumb, too!So he waits until he's finally on a really good team again to retire. Brilliant!

I completely agree.Dude was wreckless more often than not.But it was fun watching him last season. He seemed more controlled with his passing game.I alway thought he was overrated and threw far too many INT's with the whole "gunslinger" mentality. Last year I really enjoyed his play (well until the last game) and actually found myself rooting for him. He will certainly be missed.

Apples and oranges and it's not even that close.Yeah...and Elway was dumb, too!So he waits until he's finally on a really good team again to retire. Brilliant!
no one would be surprised if he un-retired next week.Deja vu. I feel like we've already had a few threads like this in years past. I'll believe it when he doesn't trot out on the field Week 1 this coming season.
The Packers got this guy when I was in like 4th or 5th grade...Which ever grade you're in when you're 11. Unbelievable!can't believe this guy has played every game since I was in highschool![]()
not sad to see him go here, excited to see how rogers plays when teams have a chance to gameplan for him. Packers still have the most upside at qb in the nfcn at the moment.
goodbye brett, although not a pack fan myself i found myself rooting for you on many occassions. No one else is like you.......you will be missed.
These clowns on ESPN2 right now are a disgrace. A legend retires, and instead of talking about his legacy, they are all saying how they think he will go back on this and play next year. Favre deserves better than to basically be accused of being full of #### on the day he retires.
it really is annoying. i'm going to choke someone if i hear the term "sour grapes" one more time. These clowns on ESPN2 right now are a disgrace. A legend retires, and instead of talking about his legacy, they are all saying how they think he will go back on this and play next year. But he never actually retired before. This time, he did. He is done. These clowns on ESPN2 right now are a disgrace. Favre deserves better than to basically be accused of being full of #### on the day he retires. He's pulled this "retirement" card out every year for the past few. In fact went through an entire season as his "farewell" tour that we had to hear about every week for 17, only to announce the next offseason that he was coming back. Glory hound.
I think it is dangerous to assume a QB will do well based on playing well for a half against a defense that had prepared for an entirely different QB, and was doing well vs. the QB before he got hurt.Rogers looked great when he had to fill in for Favre, and with the weapons he has I think he's going to really surprise people next year. It wouldn't surprise me to see him put up Romo type numbers as soon as this season.
I think Romo numbers are a little too high. Romo had an incredible season. I could see 3500 yards and 25 tds. The Packers system relies on the quick passing game so it limits some of the mistakes. Rodgers need to get in the film room. I think the Packers are really going to look to beef up the running game now. They picked up $12 million more in cap space.Rogers looked great when he had to fill in for Favre, and with the weapons he has I think he's going to really surprise people next year. Actually the numbers show he was not wreckless more often than not.His TD to INT ratio is higher than that of Elway and his attempts/int ratio is up there pretty well also.Yes...he threw alot of INTs...he also threw more passes than anyone in the history of the game.I completely agree.Dude was wreckless more often than not.But it was fun watching him last season. He seemed more controlled with his passing game.I alway thought he was overrated and threw far too many INT's with the whole "gunslinger" mentality. There wasn't a more likeable, colorful character in the NFL. He could reach Joe Average much easier than robots like Brady and Manning (no offense of course). His retirement from the game will leave a massive void.
Really? Has he filed those papers yet? Like I've said, he's stated that he's retiring before. There's no reason to believe him this time until he's filed his retirement papers. But he never actually retired before. This time, he did. He is done. These clowns on ESPN2 right now are a disgrace. He leads the NFL alltime in wins, yards, and tds. He never missed a game once he was declared the starting qb, and in 18 years had only 1 losing season. The guy is one of the top 10 of all time. That is not debatable. Where he fits in that top ten is.Actually the numbers show he was not wreckless more often than not.His TD to INT ratio is higher than that of Elway and his attempts/int ratio is up there pretty well also.Yes...he threw alot of INTs...he also threw more passes than anyone in the history of the game.I completely agree.Dude was wreckless more often than not.But it was fun watching him last season. He seemed more controlled with his passing game.I alway thought he was overrated and threw far too many INT's with the whole "gunslinger" mentality. I'm trying to think who else will come up that year... It could be busy in Canton. Depending on some pending retirement decisions you've got the possibility of the following all becoming eligible in 5 years. I'm sure I'm missing some too.Brett FavreMichael StrahanJonathan OgdenLarry AllenVinny Testaverde (j/k)Junior SeauWarren Sappborderline guys who probably don't stand a great chance to make it anyway, but won't even get a sniff their first year because of the others on the listPriest HolmesRod SmithMorten Andersen (will he ever retire?)agreed. He will surely be missed. one of the best Gamers of all time. 1st ballot HOF in waiting. Might want to go ahead and get his bust made.
BS.He never pulled the card out. He was asked questions...and answered. That was 2 seasons ago that he took a little more time to decide. Then last year he was back during SB week I believe. He never went through any farewell tour...never announced as such...people just assumed that was it.Glory hound? HAH!!!!!These clowns on ESPN2 right now are a disgrace. A legend retires, and instead of talking about his legacy, they are all saying how they think he will go back on this and play next year. NO he has never stated he was retiring before. Please find any quote as such or just consider yourself a liar.Really? Has he filed those papers yet? Exactly. This is just one of those things that, after 17 years, you start to forget will happen.I knew this day would come, but I am still bummed. Thanks Brett!
Aaron RogersDoes this mean the best QB in the NFC North is now Kitna? I don't even know whom I would rank second-best QB in the NFC North.
I just downloaded that game about a week ago.I think I'll put it on and cry like a child. We have been blessed to watch one of the greats every Sunday. Thanks for the memories Brett! The game against the Raiders right after his dad died is one of the best performances we'll ever see. :X
The look on Favres face before coming out of the tunnel in the NFC championship game was not an expression I had ever seen him have before. He looked like he was dreading to go out and play that game. His age and the discomfort of playing under such cold conditions had taken precidence over his desire to play and to win.I remember this because it is so uncharecteristic for Favre who every other time I have seen him seemed so excited to play.Im still suprised at him retiring. I think he had a legit shot to possibly get another championship over the next 2 years with the team the Pack now have in place.I wonder if anyone is feeling as much pressure as Rodgers right now? Greise did not handle following Elway very well. It may not go much better for Rodgers.
Stop.LOL at all the sadness....this is the guy that the same people keep complaining about every year....MAKE UP YOUR MIND, PLAY OR RETIRE. Well, he made a decision and made it early enough so his team could make the proper adjustments. Quit acting like this came out of nowhere, you been living in a cave for the past 2 years?
Joe stole your joke for the email updates.Madden on suicide watch?
Hi Folks,
I won't be wearing you out with every bit of news this month but if you hadn't heard
already, I wanted to let you know of the big news coming out of Green Bay this
morning. Brett Favre is calling it a career.
Professional way to close out a great career and it gives the team plenty of time
to prepare and figure out how to move forward. Obviously, this is terrible news for
not just the Packers but also the receiving corps and running game from a fantasy
football angle. There will be plenty of talk over the next few months about how
they fill the void.
In related news, all sharp objects were removed from the Madden Cruiser this morning...
Have a great rest of your week.
J
