From the below it looks like this could get drawn out again (Linky):

Favre, spending the offseason at his home in Hattiesburg, Miss., as usual, had said a week earlier that he hadn't made a decision but planned to call McCarthy.

The coach said Tuesday the two talked by phone a couple days earlier, and he didn't know when Favre would make his decision. But he didn't get any indication that an announcement was imminent.

"It was a very good talk," McCarthy told the newspaper. "It always is. I've never felt any of our talks were [not fruitful]. Even all through last year."

A year ago, Favre's decision-making dragged on until late April.

"I know from the outside people were frustrated with the waiting, but the man has played a long time and it's a process he has to go through," McCarthy told the newspaper. "And he's going through it again. There's nothing wrong with talking through it."

PFT and their obsession with Favre said something along the lines the decision is coming March.
