Hi Fellas, got PM's from Ravnz and FTT, figured I'd just post here...
...I'm still working out which place would be best for our Draft, but either one will be available on Sunday at 12:30, and before for set-up as well, and they are a grand total of less than 10 minutes away from each other, so it's not like it should matter much. These last few days have been jammed for me, with my fiancee and her son moving in, (and moving her out), getting the boy all set for school, and the Chef-ing has been on overload. I'll have more time starting tomorrow to feel this out better, more or less the logistics, considering the system we're using...
...our Pike League, which started in 1988, held it's 2 Drafts at GrillMarx last night (Monday) and tonight. The Commish/Founder is one of the Owners of GrillMarX (along with the original majority Owner of Caddie's). Those are standard 12-Team serpentine redraft leagues which use a DraftKit big draft board to post and plot picks. Monday's Draft was held indoors where we'd do ours, but the wall we'd project on is a mirror (we taped the DrafttKit draft board to it)...I have a GIANT Draft Kit that I never used from a while back that could cover that whole mirror and we could project on. We did tonight's draft outdoors on their patio, that's not an option for us, but man, was is perfect...
With Urban, I'm concerned about what we'd project on, and the lighting conditions...but I'll have more info on what I consider to be our 'best choice' in the next few days.
Jeff P is absolutely right on where I stand in terms of the allotment of Fantasy Bucks each team has at it's disposal...
...as a matter of fact, my preferred # is $400/Team - just double the values at $200 guidebook for the math impaired...I just like differentiation in value between guys, especially moving from the middle to the bottom of the Draft Pool. I just hate seeing a bunch of guys go for $1 or $2 who probably are worth between $1 and $10 if everyone has more money...
...also, the more $$$ everyone has to work with, the more accessible all this will be to the noobs, it builds in forgiveness for early-on mistakes caused by lack of familiarity with what's going on.
I don't like odd # of Players on Roster, just something about the look of it that doesn't seem right 16, 18, 20, I don't care. I would be whole-heartedly against rosters of less than 16 Players. I enjoy an active waiver wire as much as the next guy, but I kind of draw the line with a waiver wire loaded with 'starter-caliber' players - IMO, that's kind of like training wheels forgiveness for folks who don't draft well...especially in an auction League, the results of the Draft should have a HEAVY effect on the final outcome of every Team, I'm not in favor of Teams being able to completely turn around a poorly drafted team from the charity bin.
I'm all for the early start time, but I have absolutely no care in the world about when the Draft ends, I'm in 'all day'...that being said, I respect those with commitments that prevent them from blocking off their whole day. I'm just going to believe that any such folks are actually quite bummed on the inside that they have something(s) impeding them from doing just so...having a fiancee and being the guardian of a young boy has increased my level of tolerance and understanding much further than I ever thought possible...at least in regards to this sort of thing.
Kickers, take 'em or leave em.
