FBG Memorial for our fallen posters (1 Viewer)

Funny the timing on these things. I was just cleaning out my inbox yesterday and came across some old Diplomacy correspondence with Shining Path. Good guy.

Another FBG who has passed away is Gandalas (several weeks ago).

I'm not sure how many here might remember him, he wasn't active much in the FFA but did visit the Shark Pool and was fairly active in the IDP forum.

I didn't know him personally and don't know the details of his passing, other than that he was fairly young (late 30's I believe).

As to how I know this-he was the commish of a league I'm in and his passing was announced to our league by another league member who presumably knew him IRL.

While this thread seems kind of macabre, IMO it would be worse it seems to me if nobody knew/missed/or acknowledged someone's passing.

Thanks

Yea, feels odd...

Partly thought of posting reasons for passing as a means for people to be aware.

Whether its check ups with their doctor for some sort of cancer, drug abuse or suicidal thoughts etc...

Getting sadder to see some of the guys passing are very young

:(

I don't have any FBG links, but here is my notebook on this subject:

dprugby - David Pfaff was his name, he passed away from a rare form of cancer in July, 2013. Someone who knew him IRL updated the PS3 draft thread around that time. Sorry, I don't have a link to that thread.

Kestrel - Danny Lamers was his name. I think it was his brother (a FBG) posted about it. As Grateful Zed said above, not sure if that was ol' yeller or not.
Kestrel was given an in memoriam member #273 on this board, but he died in the yellow board days.

That's who I was thinking of, but for some reason I didn't remember that being his user name. RIP.

Very sad thread but I think it's a good idea whether the member was popular/well known or not. On FB we have a page to honor our fellow high school classmates. It blows the mind just how many people die so very young from cancer to being murdered to fatal accidents. Anyone can go at anytime, which is why they always say let those you care about know everyday you love them. It may be the last thing that is heard. :(

Sea Bass died? Always liked his posts, had no idea he was that old. RIP to all.
I didn't know he passed either. I know he basically signed off after all the Penn State stuff, but I didn't know he died. RIP.

ETA: I just found the thread where it was announced. I actually posted condolences, so I guess I did know at one point. I'm getting senile...

WHAT? He was a mainstay in the Shining Path's Cup league. :supersadbanana:

Another reminder that we should all have a buddy system in place for this sort of thing. Let a spouse or sibling know to inform the FFA at some point even though it may be the last thing on their mind.

The wife is well aware of her responsibilities in this area
