-My problem is Miami. has almost nothing in the Secondary, these two players will reshape the look and attitude of all of them
Miami has Phillips, Chuub and Chop on the Edge, a potential 3 headed Blitz attack so I want playmakers in the Secondary that can set up short fields

-We still have Pick No 56, nobody on OL was worth the 13 pick IMHO
Excellent DBs are hard to find and Miami has typically paid thru the nose and gotten so so results

-We here at the Ministry understand the OL issues but even when the OL performs Tua is a risk to leave the field any time
We want to set up the team with players that will shine even as the team has to be retooled on Offense.
Miami did grab Shield at RG in free agency and brought back Liam Eichenberg to go alongside Aaron brewer who rated in the Top 10 for Centers
Miami drafted Patrick Paul at #55 last year, he is now their starting LT

Injuries will tear this team apart at some time, Miami is likely a 6-7 win team this year, maybe some key injuries and a few more Zach Wilson starts at QB will plunge them towards taking a new QB in the 2026 Draft which figures to be a lot more productive than the class this year

As for folks trashing drafting a S in the first round, I call BS. The Ravens got laughed at by football gurus for picking Kyle Hamilton at #14 a few years ago. He's one of the ten best defensive players in the league now and is an amoeba freak that allows them to do things on defense that most teams can't.

(side note: Baltimore also got blasted for trading Hollywood Brown for the 1st round pick that became Tyler Linderbaum, already a perennial Pro Bowl Center. "Never draft a C in the first", right?).

Man, I have the opposite memory of the Hollywood Brown trade, where I recall most wondering how Baltimore got a 1st for him. I thought both those moves were obvious good moves at the time.

Nick E is graded as a R1 player, so giving up a pick in the back half next yr isn’t a stretch

He's high on several lists, he's also 3rd or 4th on others, but he has a lot of supporters coming into the draft

He's 6-3/230, he's a LB in sheeps clothing
21 years old, young and likely hasn't completely peaked yet
Think he will take a little time to season in the NFL

His general trend in the Draft has been going up

Next year's first round pick to move up 16 spots in the 2nd? I would be extremely unhappy if the Chargers did soemthing like this.

I'm not sure how to value 2026 picks in the various NFL draft trade charts out there. If I discount a full round, and assume Seattle's 2026 1st would be #20, that would make it equivalent to #52 this year. Using the Draftek draft chart, #50 (400) + #52 (380) = 780. 780 >> #34 (560). IMO that is a good enough proxy to show why no NFL team would actually do this.

A much more realistic trade here would be #50 (400) + #82 (180) for #34 (560). Understand that might not have been accepted here, but that doesn't make the trade that was made realistic.

I also think it is arguably better value for a team confident in its drafting to make 2 picks at 50 and 82 rather than trading up for one player who doesn't fit a true position of need.

But as someone pointed out, many trades in this mock draft have been fairly unrealistic. It's too bad that will result in this mock draft being more unrealistic than it needed to be, but that's the exercise.

Ward and Greenlaw, especially Greenlaw are the only big losses. Greenlaw is my favorite 49er and was sincerely sorry to see him go, BUT he has missed almost 50 percent of his NFL games, so there's that. Also, playing next to Warner helped his game a lot. I wish him the best in Denver though. Ward was really good too, but with the loss of his child last year, moving on was expected. He stated that him and his wife needed a change of scenery. None of the others really mattered. Some of them were paid crazy money. Banks and Moore especially.

But yeah, we will see.

Even that is somewhat questionable if we are only drafting 3 rounds, i.e., we won't be completing full drafts and thus not getting the gain from acquiring day 3 picks or the negative of trading them away.

Fair enough and we disagree a bit. Not everybody has skin as thick as you might think. I've seen many people turn and run and not contribute as much because somebody has misjudged how their words are taken. Been on the board over a decade and watched it repeatedly happen. You could ask Joe about that and I'd bet dollars to donuts that people haven't participated because of that sort of miscalculation.

The Warren pick was a little surprising, but I would have considered him one pick later for Dallas even though we have Ferguson.

I was surprised no one questioned Jihaad Campbell to Dallas. MLB is not one of the biggest needs, but now that Parsons plays mostly on the Edge, we need a force in the middle. I remember when Parsons was picked so high that I was shocked and that turned out pretty well.

I don’t think we’re realizing how much cost control and talent level are making first-round picks more and more precious. I haven’t seen many first-round picks in the NFL be given up unless they’re a) surely going to be late in the round, meaning they get dealt mid-year or b) are for QBs and All-Pros at premium positions.

I think Jamal Adams was the last trade of its kind it was so bad, and so was Trey Lance for QBs. Both were lessons. The first-rounders flying around or vacated this mock draft are a bit much.

The NY Giants trade Kayvon Thibodeaux to the NE Patriots for pick #77 (3rd round pick).

The Giants weren't looking to replace Thibodeaux at all, but after Carter fell in their lap, he became tradable. Since the Giants have so many needs at other positions, they felt it was the best use of resources to trade Thibodeaux.

The Patriots add a very talented and highly selected edge player that’s only 24 years old. KT was moderately productive on some terrible Giants teams and I feel Vrabel will put him to use effectively.

I’m an Eagles homer and love what Howie does. The activity in this draft is modeled after his methods. Fortify the OL and add a young, highly talented player motivated to play for his next contract for a third round pick. If he works out, he’ll be resigned during or after this year, if not we play the comp pick game and likely receive a mid round pick when he signs elsewhere. The risk is well worth the reward for a team that’s mostly devoid of players as talented as KT.

I'm advocating for it, I think you and Chicago made a great trade, pretty even. Sometimes in the NFL a team will go wild and trade a future 1st like the Panthers w/Young
But it also doesn't always seem to work out so teams are pretty hesitant to part with them

Dave knows how I feel With hind sight knowing Dart fell to 39, I'd have pushed him to Burden at 33, but still think Dart was the slam dunk move at 33.

If this were the real deal and phones were active, the Patriots would have contacted QB needy teams behind them about a trade up ahead of CLE.

IMO Dart was the only player on the board with positional value to warrant what SEA paid to move up. I was sure that was the play when the trade was announced

Don't think it's gonna matter in the real thing cause I expect the Browns to take Hunter at 2, but while this wasn't who I was pushing @daveR to pick at 33, he was plan B if Hunter is not pick 2 like he was here.

If I'm being honest I don't think Nolen will be available the pick before in the real thing either but one can dream and enjoy the moment.
