FBG Mock Draft (7 Viewers)

RC94

Footballguy
We used to do a mock draft where we each take an NFL team and we select players for the 1st 3 rounds of the NFL draft. Are you guys interested in doing that? If so, I'll take the Giants. Here is sign up:

When posting a selection, please post it like this so I can copy and paste it into the summary posts:
Chicago Bears
1.01 -- QB. Caleb Williams, USC

Please bold the team name and player name too, like above. Please also write an explanation of the pick since discussing the picks is fun. Please also @ whoever is picking next so we can keep it moving.

Here's a list of the rookies available and their rankings by CBS. It should be helpful to those who don't know much about the rookies beyond the mainstream ones everyone is talking about. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospect-rankings/.

ESPN - https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft/bestavailable/_/position/ovr

The teams list is in the 3rd post here and it includes the moves made by each team (trades and picks) and the team owner so we know who to @ after we make our pick. The 2nd post in this thread has each pick by round.

I would be interested in doing this and drafting for the Colts- unless there has been a past Colts drafter that wants to keep it up.

The Dolphins. I may consult with @Ministry of Pain.
-Happy to sit shotgun on this trip

Some quick thoughts...there are up to 7-8 Tackles along the OL that could go in the 1st Rd, 10-11 of them if you include the 2nd, that's a lot.
Are any of those guys good enough to take ahead of a strong IOL? Miami has 2 decent starting Tackles right now, but they get injured.
-Bad year for Guard, nobody with a strong grade before the end of the 2nd, possibly 3rd round, fine.
But there's 2 guys at Center that are worth a look, JPJ from Oregon and Zach Frasier from West Virginia, the 2nd Miami would likely trade down a few slots before taking him.

I hate Miami burning the 1st Rd pick just to replace Wilkins but both Murphy and Newton are strong Interior DL
I would prefer Miami use #55 on someone like Kris Jenkins, DT from Michigan and use #21 for the OL, maybe one of the Tackles and kick them inside Year 1
But either way I think Miami is almost forced to use both 1st and 2nd to bolster both sides of the line, and even then won't be enough.
If they can slide back from 21 and somehow add a 2nd/3rd so they turn 2 picks into 3 inside the Top 75, 4 inside the Top 100, would be in their best interest.

As it stands, 21-55and then nothing until 158, that's not gonna get it done.

I'm on the same page that their biggest needs are oline and dline. With up to 4 QBs and 4 WR/TE going early, some good players may fall. But the teams drafting 13 to 20, including PIT at 20, are likely to be drafting oline and dline so Miami may not know until right before their pick if their preferred player is available. Grier needs to be ready to trade down, going from 1.21 to 1.27 could gain a late 3rd - ARI at 1.27nhas a late 3rd. I think Miami drafts JPJ if available, but many experts have him going early 2nd.

I'll take the Chicago Bears.

Caleb Williams will be the first pick.

Can we do trades? If so, 1.09 is on the block for a trade-down.

Pencil me in for the Patriots. Anarchy99 or Boston can pick if I'm not around. Anarchy99 can veto me.

New England Patriots
1.03 -- QB. Jayden Daniels, LSU

if available, else

New England Patriots
1.03 -- WR. Marvin Harrison Jr., OSU

We have more than a month to do this. Let's wait for our turns and hopefully provide a little reasoning for the pick. That's what makes this interesting.

Caleb requires no reasoning, but from then on I'm interested in why.

Guess we'll have to wait and see. I do like your if then at #3. If not Daniels then Harrison not Maye. Yup yup. (y)

Whoever takes MN please trade up for a QB.
MIN is available if you want to take them

Just a thought. I remember doing this in 00s. It was slow to fill so some of us took two teams to get it moving. We even discussed the pick for orphaned teams and made those picks as a group. If that helps us get moving, I think Andy made a rule that our second team had to be from the other conference to prevent some joker from sabotaging a rival. :)

I'm up for a second if you approve.

Glad you started this. I was thinking about it. Thanks.

I'm up for that. I'll take the Jets too if nobody else does. Let's give it until end of day tomorrow and see where we are.

What do you guys think about trying to start on Monday?

Put me down for Arizona if no one steps up. I just noticed the last real post in the team thread was Oct. 10th. That's an FBG orphan.

I'll take a shot at the Jets slot, there are only two for the 3 rounds.. I am out of pocket a bit over the weekend but can tune in during next week if that is when it set to begin...

The NY Giants #6 pick is also available. Willing to trade down, maybe even up, but probably prefer to trade down.

That said, with the picks being available for trade, let's wait until the league is full before we start talking trades

I would be happy to select for the Atlanta Falcons
I like their pick at No 8 with everything they have done so far in the off season

-I want to help fill the 32, don't think you have to root for the team to make a draft pick, might actually help if you don't have emotional attachment
