FDuel Week 11 (2 Viewers)

Got 8.4 on James as a value pick in an expert match. Not horrible, and might be interesting with a better matchup.
I think this is a fine score for a $5K RB.
I typically want all players to score at least 2 points for every $1000 in cost. That puts you @ 120 points, which is good enough for most 50/50s.
Yeah, I'm typically looking for a point for every $500 spent. I played him in a couple of lineups; he put up 8.4 points which is about $595/point. A little disappointing, but actually about what I expected yardage/receptions-wise. Thought there was a decent chance (maybe 50%) that he'd score a TD, so for me, he was a good gamble with a relatively high floor (6-7 points) and decent ceiling (14-16 points) for his price.

Selected James on none of my teams, only arguing that when you fill out a 50/50 with a $5K RB, anything close to your expectations for your cheaper guys is a positive sign.

James would not have been a good tournament pick with the data, you need cheap stud performances, not a 120 point finish.

Right, but the point of the cheaper ones is to score enough points to average out to the 2pts per $1000

Spending 5k on Mike James means you get, say, 1800 (replacing Lacy) to spend on ___. If the more expensive players you select score 1.6 points more than the goal you've set, it was a good decision. If they don't, it goes to you picking non-optimally and not just Mike James' performance.

ETA: If James scored 0, you still have a shot with your extra cash to make up for the 10 points you expected to make with your $5K spent. I'm just saying, as far as goals and expectations, 8.4/10 is a good return for spending only $5K on the position. IMO, but I'm still learning.
Good points. I think risk/reward also has to be considered. James offered a decent reward proposition with relatively low risk of him being a complete dud. I think that's fairly rare among $5k players...

Totally agree. He had a low floor, imo, and a decent ceiling (a TD would have put him close to 3 pts per $1000).

The problem looking at the 2 pts per $1000 spent on a individual player level is that you also need to factor in opportunity cost. As others have said, while James may have feel short of this "quota", he does open up the opportunity to spend more on another player who combined could help get you past that 2 pts per $1000 spend line.

Simply put in this example, if selecting James allowed you to upgrade to a WR who simply catches 1 more ball for 12 more yards than who you would have had, you're ahead of the game.

:banned: This round is on me boys...............just had the Fanduel weekend of my life. Turned $80 dollars worth of bets into $625.

4/7 h2h match ups........+.40 cents

4/4 50-50......................+4.80

1/1 10 player league.....+20.00

9/13 tournament...........+517.00

I'm just a little excited over here......and none of my friends get it, so I had to share it here.
Nice and congrats! It sure does feel good hitting the bigger bucks!
def congrats, good work :)
Thanks guys....going for the repeat (entered a few more tournaments this week.....around 20). Swinging for the fences. Also entered about the same amount of double/triple/quadruple ups.

I'm most likely buying a first class ticket back to reality....but I'm hoping for an exciting flight there.

As an interesting experiment, the extra cash allowed me to slot RG3 instead of Eli in a 55k contest. Very uncertain on the 'value' QB's this week, enough to risk the Thursday curse for one contest ;)

Is this too crazy of a line up....so weak at rb potentially

Andre Ellington at $5200 could be a very nice play. I can see him putting up at least a 10 point day with Mendenhall out.

I have two expert lineups

Peyton

Lacy

Hillis

Decker

Moore

Beasley

Reed

Hauschka

KC

Swing for the fences against the Experts using QBs like Thad or Tannehill

Palmer

Lynch

Lacy

Decker

Moore

Beasley

Reed

Dawson

KC

Love this RB duo against most I will see in Expert. I like Beasley as a sneaky 6-8 point low cost play in Expert format with upside for a TD.
Beasley may develope into a Welker-like option, just don't know when. With Miles out it could be this week. He's on my radar to watch.

I feel a bit safer going with Durham, and with Ponder back - feels weird to say that!, maybe Simpson in the same tier of expectations. All 3 should produce something with an upside, so pick your poison :)

Ellington makes me slightly nervous because of all the talk about he will be on limited reps because they don't want to overuse...could be a smoke screen for sure but could also mean 8 touches

Some cross plays I'm making for the week in the lower threshold contests, e.g. 50/50s and Doubles:

Manning + Moreno

Garcon + Reed (+RG3)

Pryor + DMC (+Moore)

Colston + PThomas

Did the same thing last week with Hilton and Wayne. It did not work. Who would've known 4 Colts TDs and not one of them to those two guys (DHB, Fleener, the FB, and Luck rushing. WTF.)

Anyone rolling with low cost TE lineups and keeping an eye on Graham at 1pm? Watson at 4500 seems like a nice way to alter a few lineups from Clay/Reed, especially Clay.

Hillis 10 points

Beasley goose egg

3-2 in 1pm HTH. Accidentally played the same guy twice who nailed his lineup 130.68 which is a big score for 1pm only.

While I did have Calvin in a handfull of lineups, it seems almost impossible to beat guys with him in when you don't have him. What a monster game.

I'm in $1.00 tourney with only Josh Brown, Stills, Johnson and Brees playing so far. High hopes for that lineup!

Yeah, seems like a make or break player for the week. If you've got him, you're probably in the money. If you don't, you're probably not. .

I've got a 171pt $1 50/50 1pm only...lol.

Seems like I've been very successful on the 1pm only games. This week, I shoulda played alot more than 3, I really liked those lineups chances when I was putting them in.

But anyways, if Condia played the same lineup across all his 1pm's as he did in my 3 50/50s, he won't be cashing in anything.

Basically won (or high odds to cash) every lineup where I had the Romo/Dez/CJ combo going. Alex Henery over Bailey and Pierre Thomas over Ellington in a bunch of line-ups will probably cost me some cash in my tournament entries, but still cashing at least 40% of my tourneys this week. Plenty of dirt cheap RB's ended up putting in 8-12pt performances and Ellington went off.

This was a week to go big or go home WR-wise. All my lineups with a lot of tier 2/3 WR's like Decker, Brown, Moore, etc. are doing mediocre; meanwhile CJ and Dez had the output of half a team.

Wonder if anyone had Marvin Jones alongside Megatron...

Pretty sure this will be my worst week this season. I began my first week (week 2) with $20 and turned it into a little over $200. I'll probably drop back down to around $130-140 after today. Basically not having Calvin in most of my lineups killed me. I have contests where I normally would take 1st with a 130 score that won't even make top 3.

Oh well... I was due for a bad week. I still have an outside shot depending on Lacy tonight or if Gonzalez can do something late for the Falcons. Having Gonzo and Gronk in all of my lineups kind of hurt too.

A guy in a $1.00 sunday tourney has both along with Dez. He nailed pretty much EVERY good player and has a score nearing 200.

Won a 3 man $109 1 pm game today. Off to a good start.
pretty much locked in at least $150 in profit, could pick up more if Lynch goes off. RG3 kept me out of best weekend ever territory with his terrible game.

Manning + Moreno worked nicely.

So did Pryor and DMC.

Garcon and Reed very so-so.

Colston and Thomas was a back-breaker, though. Got too excited when I saw Condia rolling with Colston and Dodds pumping him if Graham was out.

total disaster at FD for me this week although I think I'll hold onto a FFC satellite , $30 from a tourney & might hold on to win a $25 super slam entry. Lost every head to head & 50/50 . RGIII, McCoy & Gonzo , ugh

Draftstreet looks like I'll be +$18

As of now, I'm 11-1 in H2H and 8-0 in 50/50 contests. Just need Jordy Nelson to hold off Eddie Lacy to keep it that way, and if Nelson can score 14 more points I'll be a perfect 20-0 this week. Not real proud of my score this week - only 114 but so far it's good enough.

Anyone want to help support me on getting this specific change implemented at Fanduel? Apparently, I'm the only person that has made this complaint, even though I've made it twice now, and they are passing my complaint onto "The Team". I have a hard time believing this doesn't bother alot of people. If you have 5 minutes to kill, hit them up over there on a live support chat and maybe we can make something happen.

When you are looking at your "Live Entries" view under the "My Contests" dropdown, all of the NFL entries look the same under the "Contest" column. But usually you have multiple 1pm only, 4pm only, Sun only, etc contests all going at once. The view just doesn't tell you which one's are which, they all say "NFL 50/50 League" for example. Before the contests start (Upcoming), that column says "NFL 50/50 League (4pm Only)", etc. After the contests complete (History), that column says "NFL 50/50 League (4pm Only)", etc.

Brutal week for me. Going to end up losing money, only question is how much.
Me too. Henery, Decker, Garcon, Gonzalez, RGIII, Eli, and Kansas City were featured in too large of a percentage of my lineups, and often in multiples. I'm losing with Calvin in my lineups... :sadbanana:

ETA: Decker, Garcon, Gonzo, Henery was the precise combination that is costing me so much money this week.

They should have a search-by-player feature. E.g., a search bar where I type in "Lacy" and it brings up all the leagues I have with that player.

I should have looked closer. I was going against a few other Packers in contests.

I still went 8-0 in 50/50 contests but fell to 7-5 in H2H. Griffin and Henery hurt but I can't complain about a week where I finished in the money in 75% of my contests.

2 and 0 in the 4pms, so 8 for 10 in what's been posted. I'm going to do real well in the prime times, but the Thursday nite starts will be a disaster. Anyone else notice the scoring in the 50/50s that started Thursday nite were significantly higher than everything else this weekend?

0 for 3 in tourneys. This will be a losing week for me.

I have a story to tell. It starts with this guy who thinks he is invincible. I mean, who wouldn't after going 9-4 in tournaments last week. He does his homework and is convinced he can repeat that ungodly winning percentage. So, what should this guy do? That's right, enter twice as many tournaments with diverse lineups to ensure that he will be rolling around in a pile of cash by the end of Monday night.

Then the games start. Randle and Henery decide they need an extra bye week. RGIII, Colston, Decker, Gonzo, KC defense and E. Manning decide they are going to take it easy this week. Countless others throw up uninspiring days.

Long story short.....I'm going to finish right around 3-22 this week. And the 3 placings will be the bottom of the barrel kind and barely make a dent. I had most of the top scorers this week....I just didn't have enough of them on the same team. At least one of the above crew can be found on all of my teams.

May you all learn from this story. I have now returned to reality. Thank god I didn't bet all of my winnings from the previous week.

saw a guy in a tourney today put up 186.58 with RG3 as his QB. going to win a 838-man tourney with a 5.98 from his $8800 QB

So far for the week I'm down around $100.

I'm currently in 5th in the 3k Sun Dive ($1.00) paying out $50.00. I'll drop to 6th when Lynch scores 4 points.

HOWEVER, if Eddie Lacy doesn't get blown up by that Vikings linebacker at the goal line, he scores and I jump to 2nd for another $150.00 in prize money and have a slight chance to hold onto it. Man was I upset when he didn't score there! :)

Rough week. I am simply amazed at how many people I see that played Marvin Jones. I have been playing fantasy football for 20 years now and I will be honest when I say I never even heard of him.

I got crushed everywhere except for the two $109 contests I entered. I won those handily (a 3 man and a 50/50). Kinda weird that the worst competition was at the $109 level.
