FDuel Week 11 (1 Viewer)

General question:

Do you guys have more success with Stud QBs and TEs with bargain RBs and WRs, or bargain QBs and TEs with stud RBs and WRs?

I've been going the bargain QB and TE route and it has not been working the last 2 weeks. Going to try the other this time around as there are lots of bargain RBs this week IMO.

My bargain QB/TE lineup will be similar to what is posted above.

Brady to Gronk in my expensive QB/TE lineups.

I'll probably fail anyways.

My best week ever. I won $18,095 to bring my winnings to $48,780 for the year.
Sounds like most of us around here had tougher weeks, making your prediction seem true... but you were able to have the best week EVAH? Props for going against your own prediction!
I used my optimized lineups and small variations in nearly all cases.
Does "optimized lineups" = "Dodds On The Daily 65/60/55 lineups"?

I don't really have a strategy as far as singling out positions. I take a look at the games and find 3 or 4 players that are going to blow up. Make sure those guys are on your team and fill the rest with value. I also try to get a good defense and kicker. If you pick the right defense and kicker you will win most 50/50 lineups. This week I really like Andre, Brady, Gronk, and Forte. Getting them all on the same team will be difficult.

Sounds like you picked the wrong value QB (Keenum likely) last week. Several value QBs put up great numbers in week 11.

Stacy, Lacy, Tate, Charles, Andre Brown all seem set up to have potentially large games.

I'd probably look at Kendall Wright (5400) and Denarius Moore (4600) to help you with cheap WR options.

Thanks I have Wright in there now. I don't really like Moore all that much.

As far as looking at the games, I like to look at the 2-3 games with the highest o/u total, and form my baseline players around these games while also looking at the matchup ratings vs position. A mix of these two is a part of the strategy I use when forming lineups every week.

For example, the WAS/PHI game in Week 11 was o/u 52.5, so I made sure I had a mix of these players across my lineups (ended up playing mostly Foles, McCoy, and DJax). I didn't like Reed at his price, so did not play him much, and also was pretty down on WAS offense overall which helped my week. I liked the eagles side more due to WAS not being able to defend the pass or the run very effectively.

ETA: Week 12 Top 3 o/u are DEN/NE (53.5), NO/ATL (53), and TB/DET (48.5).

Just running through a quick 60k lineup based solely on match-ups:

Newton

Lacy

P. Thomas

Cruz

V. Jackson

Bowe

Gronk

Prater

Car

Don't really get a warm fuzzy feeling about this one, but the numbers could work out.

Maybe a stupid question, but is there a way to search your LIVE contests for a certain player? Like if I want to see all contests I have Calvin in.

Apparently David was dead wrong about fading this week.

I played mostly off his value chart and am currently at 14 and 9 on the 50/50s. Roughly a 61% win rate. I have 13 more primetime contests in play and am doing pretty well in them so this could be a very good week.

If you use David's projections on a weekly basis and create multiple lineups, you can grind out some cash in the 50/50s.

That said, I do employ a couple of strategies when possible to improve my 50/50 odds. For example, if I really like Wilson at QB for the week, I'll try to seed in some Lynch exposure even if Charles grades out to be a pt/$ play. I generally don't stack QB and WR/TE in 50/50s, but will go heavy was obvious rec combos like Reed/Garcon, Hilton/Fleener, Marshall/Jeffery to smooth out production.

Had a great week! My husband really loved the match ups this week and I let him talk me into risking 295 dollars of our roughly 500 dollars on fan duel. We ended up winning 665 dollars for a profit of 370 dollars. I am so exciting I can't wait for this week!

I agree with this, but the problem is that Dodd's chart and "thoughts" or whatever the article is called are usually the last Daily articles to come out. Comes out way after Thursday, and so late (usually on Saturday) that many of the Double/Triple/Quintuple tourneys are already filled.

FBGs - it would be great if this could come out on say, Thursday, with the caveat that it isn't the final product, and will be updated on Saturday.

I'd prefer they don't make it even easier for people to submit good lineups. I suspect Dodds's "value chart" or whatever is nothing you can't already produce yourself using Dodds's projections, which are generally available on Wednesday mornings.

Absolutely, I could manually rip the projections and plug them into my own spreadsheet and then color code it. I could also make my own projections instead of relying on Dodds, Bloom Tremblay, etc.

Instead, I pay for a subscription. So that's kind of the point.

I would be curious to know the % of FanDuel players who are also FBGs premium subscribers, but would estimate it no more than 5-10%.

What position does everyone have trouble with picking? Mine is quarterback. Despite the good week I had Keenum and Brees. Who do people like this week?

God help me, but I have Eli and Alex Smith in some of my lineups this week. I said I would never start them again, but if they suck this weekend I really mean it this time!

Eli went for 400/4 tds last time out against the Cowboys. I am definitely going to have him in some tournaments with how cheap he is. I cannot get on board with the KC offense except Charles, and maybe Bowe, but if your playing tournaments, it is worth a shot as Smith will not be widely owned.

No shot I play Alex Smith but I am considering Eli too. He shredded Dallas for over 400 once and it's happened three or four other times too.

We will be automating the Value Chart for 2014 for all Daily Sites. But the job is not trivial and will take a good bit of work this offseason to make happen.

What I would suggest for people now to do:

Jump into the Sunday 50/50s and Double Ups with any roster. Change those rosters Saturday night / Sunday morning based on the latest info we have.

I have been doing this a lot and have been fairing very well. Not the level of some others, but I have been grinding it out at the $5 level and am up $75 from my initial deposit.

On another note, I normally don't spend a lot on QBs in tourneys but i am thinking of going with a Brady, Gronk, Vereen combo in a couple Thurs entry tourneys this week. Think Brady will be highly owned? Part of me is thinking a lot of people will jump on Brees Thurs night as has been the case in the past.

David, I already do this to a degree with some of my entries that I already create. But changing the lineups, especially if you are creating multiple lineups which makes sense to do for tourney style entries is a major pain. With your relationship with Fanduel you should really encourage them to put in a new process to make changing lineups simpler. They let you import by lineup. They need to let you have the option of changing by lineup instead of just globally.

For thurs contests, I am going with brees, mccown, alex smith as my mains and a touch if stafford and tolzien

Basically I find the two biggest value plays and start the lineup there. Then I go to Dodd's projections at each position and look for guys at the top of the list that are cheap. This usually leaves me with cash leftover so I start upgrading the base lineup.

Lots of good cheap QB options this week. I suggest you look this way and use the extra funds elsewhere. I'm talking about guys like Alex Smith, Eli Manning, Carson Palmer, etc.

Hey guys, I recommend you check out the first 15 minutes or so of the On the Couch podcast. Bloom, Dodds, and some other guy talked about Daily games for the first bit and it's a little interesting. Not much outside of "oh its really interesting, and the new way to play fantasy football" but I certainly enjoyed listening.

This being my first year on FanDuel, I've come to realize that it really is Fantasy Football 2.0. In the past, being such a fan, I would join more and more re-draft and/or dynasty leagues to get my fix. But having a ton of leagues has major downsides. It's static, and requires tons of maintenance, with waivers, trades, lineups, etc. The best thing about Daily is that it allows you to have your "main" re-draft/dynasty league, and then fill in with Daily games as you want (or as you don't want, if you get the burnout or want to take a weekend off).

Dodds talked about how part of his $50k experiment has been to collect lots of data to interpret with regards to H2H vs. 50/50 vs. Tourneys, etc. etc. and it will be very interesting to talk about. The only thing substantive he talked about was using the Thursday game to 'sample' and get peaks of the Condias, MBombs, etc. of the world. Didn't go into much detail about the Thursday fade, whether or not his position has changed on that strategy depending on the matchup, or much in the way of specific players this week. Still, recommended.

I think Daily games have come along enough to the point where a weekly Podcost devoted to covering a few of the main sites would be a solid FBGs production for next year.

What do people think about Burleson @ $4500? Could be really sneaky if he's a full go and not on a snap count or anything. Coming back from a broken arm, I wouldn't expect a snap count... either the bone is healed or it isn't, right?

This is the only reason I ever enter Thursday night NFL contests.

I think you are over thinking it Hulk. There is a lot of value at receiver and running back this week. It should be easy to not have to go that low.

For a large tourney he might be worth a flier, but he is too risky for heads up and double.

Okay I lied. I'm playing Smith in a Thursday contest because I needed a cheap QB. I'll probably play Keenum in some Sunday lineups but am leery of putting in a Thursday lineup after he got yanked last week. And scared of Eli especially because the east coast is supposed to be cold and windy on Sunday. So Smith it is.

I have to agree here, keep it simple, don't overthink some things. Honestly my biggest issue this week is finding where to spend the money. We all look for value plays obviously each week, but at the end of the day you need a workhorse to put up the points and I don't know if any jump out.

So far I like Eli, Keenum and Smith as QBs. Brown, Gore and Tate as RB. Jeffery, Cruz, Decker and Wright for WR.

But not one cracks 7k. Anyone have opinions on some big tickets? I love that they said they wanna get the ball to Dez, but I'm sure NYG's D coordinator loves that also. I believe in the high scoring offenses of DEN vs. NE but could see any number of guys on DEN getting the ball and I like Gronk, but that isn't getting me there. Calvin could be matchup proof on Revis this week but I'm not dropping 10k to find out. McCown hates Marshall idk, just feeling like a tough week up top.

Only using Burleson in 1 tourney lineup where I need a $4500 guy to round out the roster. I really REALLY like the rest of the roster, so I'll be rolling with him Sunday unless I hear of a set back.

As for big ticket guys that are due for big games, Charles and Gronk are guys I'm rostering a lot this week.

I am rolling with Henne in 1 tourney. It lets me get Calvin and a few other high price guys. Remember last year he torn up Houston. I am hoping lighting strikes twice

Alright, #### it. 85% of my payroll is in play(about $17, woo hoo). Just feel really good about my lineups. Have 4 rosters spread into 8 contests. A few 50/50's, tourneys, the 8 player league on the last page and a couple $2 satellites for the King of the Gridiron.

Could go really, really well, or completely horrible this week.

Wait so people are still playing Calvin? With Revis? I know he isn't what he used to be and Calvin is still Calvin but are people expecting a 25+ point performance guaranteed?

Nothing is guaranteed. But Calvin will be in 25 to 50 percent of my 50/50 lineups this week. The chance of him putting up a total bust performance is pretty low and he can always go off regardless of the matchup

No actually I am fading Calvin in all but that one tourney. Just in case
