Feeling Good Thread (1 Viewer)

It's Friday!

IT'S UNDER 90 DEGREES!

Yesterday at 6PM I checked my two usual sources for local weather. One said it was 109, the other 110, both agreed at 118 for the heat index. About 7 a thunderstorm rolled through and cooled everything off. You could see steam/evaporation coming off the road almost as thick as a light fog. Going on 16 hours below 90, GLORIOUS!
Remind us where you are so we know never to move there.
North Texas, a couple hours west of D/FW.
I have been to Midland/Odessa for work. Never really need to go back. I assume where you are is similar to that area.
I'm in the Great Plains, the harvesters/combines start their season around here and follow the golden grains all the way up to Saskatchewan. There is a lot of oil production around here but not much drilling. There are oil wells around here that have been steadily producing for over a hundred years.

Edit- the air is a lot fresher here than in the Midland/Odessa area.

Feeling good, full of energy, so many things to feel good about. Cooked a ton of food this weekend, for family Saturday and for friends Sunday. My Monday morning weigh in matched Friday morning. My picky eating son added a couple of proteins to the list of things he likes, if only I could get him to like more fruits and vegetables. Finally the humidity is coming down, it's a brutal summer this year.

Feeling good!

Edit- I had forgotten when I posted this but the kid did add grilled onions to his diet.

Drove home from work yesterday and saw a boy and girl in front of their house with a stand selling packages of gummie bears of all things. Nice sized bag for $1.

I hate gummie bears. But I had to go on my run, so I grabbed a $5 bill and ran by. Stopped and said:

“I don’t need any gummie bears but I want to give you this to support your business.”

They get these big smiles on their faces and both say thank you. It was awesome.

sopapilla cheesecake

What's that?

I feel good today. Sort of a little caffeinated buzz but totally sober, which feels great. Listening to Killer Mike's "Don't Let The Devil" and just sort of enjoying the morning here on the West Coast. It's a temperate day, though the fan blows gently in my room keeping me totally cool in addition to the air conditioning.

Something I was introduced to today. OMG the cinnamon sugar was heavily layered on top and crunchy. The middle was ooey gooey goodness. The crust and edge were crunchy too. I was thankful I was only given one piece and that I'm not hanging around the pan, it would be easy to overindulge. It felt like eating a one way ticket to type one diabetes while being pleasured by the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. The lady who made it did so perfectly but I could see how a layperson like myself would have problems recreating the masterpiece.

Still reveling in my weekend. I grew up outside of Buffalo and am a lifelong Bills fans. I moved to Charlotte in 1996. and raised my 3 kids. I tried to convince them to be Panthers fans and spare them a lifetime of disappointment but they all wanted to be like Dad.
Fast forward to this year and all my son wants for a college graduation present is to go to a Bills home game.
The weekend could not have been better. The kids flew in from 3 different cities and all flights were on time. We went to a Sabres preseason game on Saturday then ate copious amounts of wings and pizza.
The weather could not have been better on Sunday and we were tailgating by 8:30 and were joined by 4 of my childhood friends. We ate, drank and laughed in the sunshine nervously anticipating the game.
The stadium rocked, the Bills kicked *** and my kids have a great understanding of my devotion to my friends and the Bills.
One of my sons hugged me as I dropped him at the airport and said “when my life flashes before my eyes this day will be featured.”
I’m a lucky man.

I see your thread music and I'll raise you one:
I’ll add one to the mix
It’s a Great Day To Be Alive
Cue flugelhorn

This came out as Covid shutdown essentially wrapped. Made me feel happy.

And goes without saying...

Loving that we’re finally cold!

Also, good swim this morning. Further than I’ve gone in a while Although taking the time to do that meant not hitting the weights.

It's been hot and muggy for days on end. The skies opened up and delivered cooling rain. I observed 4 kids outside playing with sheer delight on their faces. Just stomping around in the rain and puddles. Pure joy.
