Felix Jones hurt already? (1 Viewer)

@dmn_george

Brandon George #Dallas #Cowboys RB Felix Jones not on the practice field again this morning. Had tightness in his hamstring Tuesday

I really hope Felix doesn't play. I'm fine with starting Sammy Morris if Felix is out, but I'm not feeling good about starting either of them if Felix plays.Of all weeks to have Marshawn Lynch playing against SF and this Dallas situation, it has to be championship week. Sigh...just my luck.Felix is officially on my #### list. Here is the latest news I see online...

dmn_george Brandon George#Dallas #Cowboys RB Felix Jones at practice but not in uniform. On side working with athletic trainers. Stretching before resistance work.
Sounds like this is going to be a nightmare situation.

I wouldn't expect Jones to play at this point and if he does there is no way you can start him with confidence. Can't believe this.

Have Jones and Morris. At this point, unless I hear something definitive on Felix being out or something like "Morris is going to start and get the majority of the carries", I'm going to start Randall Cobb Sunday night. Thinking back to another thread, might be a good idea to make sure you have Felix in a flex slot if your league works that way.

That's what I'm doing although it's with Morris. Right now I have Crabtree in at the flex but if Felix is out I'm going with Morris.

Not sure if I said this in this thread or the Morris one, but my concern is that due to the Dallas RB situation, it may be virtually impossible for Felix to be declared inactive. Can anyone fill us in on who would back up Morris if Jones couldn't go? It's one thing to give a RB the vast majority of the carries, but a team has to have an active back up just in case, right?

With today being the usual "Friday" practice in a normal NFL week, I take his non-participation in practice as an at least 80% confirmation that he isn't playing. At this point, I'd be very surprised is he plays at all.

And yes, this is why all the "organization speak" about him being ok was and is BS. We are not getting the full picture or information here.

If Chauncey Washington is called up from the practice squad that's a pretty good indication Jones either won't play or the Cowboys are expecting him to be limited.

Watch to see if they pull an RB off the practice squad. I think I heard the name Chauncey Washington (?)

I think the best thing for his owners (assuming you rostered Sammy Morris) is that he doesn't play at all. Morris looked great last week, and should be able to put up good numbers as a workhorse back.

Washington is already up from the practice squad, for those who were wondering.
Did that happen today or was he already up when the week began?
Happened on Tuesday, I believe. The kffl.com blurb had Morris and Washington splitting reps with Felix on the sideline.
I hadn't seen him called up. Thanks for the info.
No problem. I'm assuming this makes it more likely that Jones will be inactive? Also, I believe that Miles Austin is the "Oh ####, all we have left is Tony Fiametta" back. Similar to how Owen Daniels was the backup to T.J Yates in the Leinart game.

Are we sure about this? This is from a story on the Cowboys official site, posted at 10:47am today:

Running back Chauncey Washington is ready on the practice squad should the Cowboys decide to sign another back in time for Saturday's showdown with the Eagles.

#### my playoff game is over before it started. Our waivers are locked for the playoffs. I have no other options.

This is the blurb from RTSports who gets their info from KFFL.
10:06pm Tue Dec 20, 2011Dallas Cowboys RB Felix Jones (hamstring) did not practice Tuesday, Dec. 20, due to hamstring tightness. RBs Sammy Morris and Chauncey Washington split repetitions as a result. Head coach Jason Garrett is hoping Jones will participate in practice at some point this week and play in Week 16. Morris would likely start if Jones can't play.Fantasy Impact: We'll keep you posted on this one as it is something to watch. We'll know more later in the week.

i think they are just assuming he would be called up if Jones cant go. I think he is still on the practice squad for now.

for those that don't need Morris, I'd add him for a block against your opponent if you think they might. I just did this in all my match ups.

I personally, with no actual evidence, do expect Felix Jones to start on Saturday. It's a big game for the Cowboys. Saying that, I don't know if he'll get 3 carries, 13 carries or 18 touches in the game before his hamstring tightens up. I think there's a much larger risk of him leaving the game early than him not starting.

Agreed. I grabbed him at the first mention of Felix missing practice. While I may end up starting him, my original thought was just to prevent my opponent from grabbing him (he is currently starting Brandon Lafell at flex, so Morris would be a huge upgrade if Felix ended up being out).

RW blurb:

ESPN Dallas reports the Cowboys plan to promote RB Chauncey Washington from the practice squad.

It's another bad sign for Felix Jones (hamstring), who has yet to practice this week. Jones may end up starting the game against the Eagles, but Washington and Sammy Morris would likely carry the load if the Giants beat the Jets in the early game.

I think that decides it for me. If Felix plays, I'm going with Crabtree. If he doesn't, Sammy Morris is getting the start. I just don't trust Felix...

Just switched Morris into my starting lineup. Felix isn't going to play.
Really hope that is the case. I don't know why, but I have a feeling that he's going to have a big game if Felix isn't there to split carries with him.
Didn't look bad last week, Fiametta is healthy, and I think this is a cowboys victory.
It's funny how important Fiametta is for the Cowboys. I liked him in Carolina, but he never really impressed me THAT much, and certainly wasn't at the level that we were used to with Brad Hoover. Obviously he has become a big part of the running game in Dallas, so I'm really happy for him.I agree with you, but I think Philly wins. Personally, I'm just hoping for a shootout, as I own Romo, McCoy, Celek, and maybe Morris in the game.Like I said earlier, if Morris is the top RB in this game with Felix out, I have this odd feeling that he's going to be one of those stories that people talk about in the future when telling their great moments in fantasy football. For those that have more knowledge about Morris than I do, how is he out of the backfield? In a PPR, is he able to contribute some cheap points?

This is really tricky situation:

1) Beast if he's fairly healthy and plays a full complement of snaps

2) Could leave early or be limited

3) Late game at 4:00 - Felix could be announced active at 3:00, but they decide to limit him or not use him at all depending on Giants/Jets game

4) Most people's alternatives play at 1:00

Best case scenario is Felix is declared inactive early and you can toss Morris in. My alternative is A Brown at 1:00 (probably no Ben) so this decision is going to kill me all weekend. :wall:

looks like ill be starting antonio brown or santana moss in the flex for him
Crabtree here. I have a bad feeling that if Felix plays and I bench him, he'll end up going off...but the risk is just so great in a championship game, with a team that may not have a lot to play for, and Sammy Morris, who got a lot of carries last week, behind him. With Washington being promoted, I worry that we'll see a three headed monster that produces nothing individually.

I've picked up Sammy just in case, and since I benched Ben Tate last night (thankfully), this is looking like a good move.

The Cowboys released offensive lineman Daniel Loper to make room for running back Chauncey Washington on the 53-man roster. This is the third time Loper has been released since he signed with the Cowboys on Oct. 18. The Cowboys promoted Washington from the practice squad because of Felix Jones’ questionable status. Jones has not practiced all week due to a hamstring strain, meaning that 12-year veteran Sammy Morris will probably play a much larger role than anticipated when the Cowboys signed him less than two weeks ago.
Cowboys running back Felix Jones is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against Philadelphia after missing practice all week because of hamstring tightness.Linebacker DeMarcus Ware (neck stinger) and nose tackle Jay Ratliff (ribs) are also listed as questionable, though both are expected to play after having limited participation at practice three days in a row.The NFC East-leading Cowboys had said during the week that they were being cautious with Jones, who is coming off consecutive 100-yard rushing games after the season-ending ankle injury to rookie DeMarco Murray.Sammy Morris, a 12-year NFL veteran who was signed with Dallas and made his season debut last week, would start if Jones doesn't play.Dallas also Friday signed running back Chauncey Washington to the active roster from its practice squad.
