Self-defense isn't a good excuse on message boards.Oh I deserved a few. But when you are standing there and someone punches you in the face, should you go to prison if you respond in kind? I don't think so.

It is pretty black and white. Although I realize mods don't have time to go through history.Self-defense isn't a good excuse on message boards.
History would have little to do with it. You've been here long enough to know if you tell another poster "F-you" you are going to get a suspension. Context won't matter to much to a mod in that situation. It is pretty black and white. Although I realize mods don't have time to go through history.
Certainly. And I don't mind a good nature comment in a friendly discussion. But when a guy who clearly hates your guts and stalks you with it, it goes way beyond ball busting. The creator of that went through 4 different now banned aliases spanning over a couple of years. That gets old and not funny."wrong_mx" is just busting balls, man.
I saw you post this through my binoculars, and I wholeheartedly agree. The stalking thing is really, really dumb. Try putting someone on ignore, never responding to anything they say, even indirectly, and see if they "stalk" you. if you're being "stalked" by someone, it's 100% on you.
If someone hates your guts on this message board that says more about them than it does about you. Someone like that is not worth you wasting your effort or time stressing or worrying about.Certainly. And I don't mind a good nature comment in a friendly discussion. It's hilarious that he intentionally repeated the same offensive line 17 times and your thought was to call it a long and detailed apology. Not sure what's a mockery or why anyone would want this deleted. He did something well over the line. He got suspended. He posted a long and detailed apology.
For someone with 82 posts, you seem to know a lot about the message boards.
No stress here, just discussing it as it was brought up in the appropriate thread. I think the people that mention it are fine ignoring trolls but value the board here and want to know where the line is and if stuff like that is ok or if the hammer will be dropped on us.![]()
why would I ignore you? I don't have a problem with you, just saying that if you feel Bruce or whomever is genuinely trolling you repeatedly then just ignore them and report them. It's not worth you getting yourself stressed out over it.

Hey we are Skins and Eagles fans and we make it work.![]()
Emotions run high on some topics and hit close to home on some folks. I'm of the belief that if someone can't have a conversation with someone who has a different view point without making it personal it's probably not a conversation that's worth having.
whoa, whoa, whoa settle down....The Eagles still suckHey we are Skins and Eagles fans and we make it work.![]()
Theres a long history to this topic that isn't worth the whole discussion but get your point.
That is from the Manifesto.....but yet long past history is used to justify unequal treatment.Second, consider this a reset. What's past is past from us. Please let's look at this as from now going forward. I know there have been slights and wrongs. I'm asking that you let us move forward from here.
Fair point. That is from the Manifesto.....but yet long past history is used to justify unequal treatment.
Mom jokes should still be cool though.![]()
How about a steadfast rule about not posting unsavory jokes about wives/husbands/kids going forward and call it a day
Henry Ford and Ramsay Hunt Experience? fatguyinalittlecoat. Ivan Karamazov? fc, I've grown to appreciate you, but that's a bad suggestion.I can clean this board up real quickly:
Anyone with over 50 posts in the politics subforum should just be permabanned. I'm sure there are a few decent posters in there, but I don't think we can take any chances.
I was way more interested in googling "having sex with his wife while he watched."Real question is who is Chris Hayes? I had to Google him.
For the record, if I ever get a timeout the extra 1 hour would bother my OCD more than all the days. Like my own personal daylight savings time hell.Banned - 3 days and 1 hour
This is an excellent post, top notch and loaded with truth.I don't get what the problem is. FFA never been better. All the crazies are in that political forum arguing with themselves about which bigoted white person they want to win the Alabama primaries and I don't have to see it. If you go in there and argue with them, that's on you, not them. I can't even imagine having a conversation on the anthem issue with of those people; what is the point?
That place is like Devil's Island. Why would anybody go there willingly?
I just went through this today and was desperate to get back to music, even though I'm an offender. I don't think people solely go there to bicker. I think, believe it or not, some of us got to know each other through participating in those threads and respect each others' intelligence and insight. I've had my mind changed here several times and enjoy reading intelligent people on the "other" side of the aisle, though it may not always seem it. So I'm not sure. The Trump stuff got really weird and that's a little more contentious, but that's died down a lot besides the aliases. But that's my two cents.People go there to bicker. That's what they do. They might say they're not but they look forward to the argument. Watch what happens when somebody makes a salacious point. We need to make room on mount Rushmore. Call it mount trumpmore. Then watch what happens when nobody quotes it. They go ape #### and start quoting themselves just to make sure somebody sees it and will argue with them about it.
I think kaepernick should go to an nfl game and stand for the national anthem, then publicly apologize for starting the controversy. I think he should thank the country for giving attention to the important problems we face and should thank the police departments that have done positive things since the blm movement started. And he should thank the people who kneeled or stood along side people who kneeled, because they helped bring attention to the problem.
Anyone want to argue with that?
Part of me wants someone to quote it and say that's a great idea. But I know what will probably happen is that people on both sides of the aisle will just say I'm stupid and that's a terrible idea for different reasons, then wait for somebody to argue with them or tell them how smart they are.
It's human nature. We all like attention.
people arguing democrat vs republican has now become like an argument between red sox and yankee fans. you are dedicated to your team, regardless of who wears the jersey and you root against the other team. unfortunately, in one of these instances you are rooting against your country.
Is this what started this latest round?https://forums.footballguys.com/forum/topic/755362-colin-kaepernick-thread-nfl-player-protests-sweep-league-after-trumps-remarks/?do=findComment&comment=20457067
Hey @Joe Bryant - I posted a bunch of questions here that went unanswered - being an owner of the board, I feel there is no wrong answer from you on my questions, I'm just curious where you stand on them?
Any insight is much appreciated!
TIA

It'd be interesting to see if it worked here, but I doubt it. It's like hearing the points about getting rid of the electoral college. Whatever positives are completely overshadowed by the massive potential negatives.I say go with a reddit style posting. Allow for down voting of posts and if they reach a certain threshold, theyre forced to the bottom. It'll push people to actually add to the discussion instead of trolling and bickering with each other.
Yes, but this is not the thread and no longer the forum for it. You are welcome to join the discussion in PSF if you wish.People go there to bicker. That's what they do. Tallywhacker.irish eyes said:It's quite hilarious what gets people banned on these forums. You can't use characters to replace letters to spell a word, but you can certainly use terms for male organs freely. As is evident in the shark pool topic about settling ties in fantasy football games. Maybe its just them not agreeing with your viewpoint on something, because there is no other explanation for how its done.
I get 90 days for discussing a political topic in an intelligent manner. I get 7 days for suggesting a poster needs to be slapped. Posters make backhanded comments suggesting I am a pedophile and bigot, and nothing.Today's talk about the Baton Rouge murders has brought on some talk about how we moderate the boards.
I know some people think we moderate too much. Some not enough.
There does seem to be a general level of unexcellentness to each other that makes posting in some of the threads not fun. Not really outright attacks, just general toolishness. Some have suggested we moderate more heavily and give time outs for people being uncool. This is always a tough line to balance. People always see their posting on a different standard than the other person's posting. (Who usually seems to have have an opinion they disagree with)
So I'd throw it out here.
What would you guys like to see?

I just got two days for this-so tame that I honestly would not have been able to figure out why I got the TO if I had made more than one post in the thread.I get 90 days for discussing a political topic in an intelligent manner. I kind of agree it is not just ideology, but there is a significant personal bias against posters. I am pretty much open season for attacks and the mods only react after I respond, then it is lightening quick.I just got two days for this-so tame that I honestly would not have been able to figure out why I got the TO if I had made more than one post in the thread.
At least we can say the problem is consistency, rather than favoring a particular ideology or perspective.
Yes. We talked a good bit about not doing the generalization shots at the other side. When it's stressed repeatedly and you still want to go with "Just calling someone a Republican is insult enough these days" that isn't what we want to have.I just got two days for this-so tame that I honestly would not have been able to figure out why I got the TO if I had made more than one post in the thread.

The mods like likely dont see it until you report it. That's why we ask that people report.I kind of agree it is not just ideology, but there is a significant personal bias against posters. Your site, your rules. It seemed like an innocent joke to me- especially since I did it in the context of agreeing that another poster had crossed the line- but I'll do what I can to steer away from of the line in the future.Yes. And I realize full well that's way more tame than other places. No argument there.
I reported it three times over a 15 hour period But thank you for getting to it.The mods like likely dont see it until you report it. That's why we ask that people report.

Let's be real. Most of what you report is people lashing back at you for something legit you did.I reported it three times over a 15 hour period But thank you for getting to it.
I lash back at people who initiates attacks against me. It would be nice if moderators approached things without so much preconceived bias.Let's be real. Most of what you report is people lashing back at you for something legit you did.
You could save everyone a lot of time if you'd be more cool. Thanks.
They don't attack without a reason. Be cooler yourself and it'll be better for everyone. Please drop it here.I lash back at people who initiates attacks against me. It would be nice if moderators approached things without so much preconceived bias.
I do not initiate making debates personal.
I was banned and never had the opportunity to respond. That was not an attempt to score political points or to place blame on the president. It was a plea for the president to take a stand against such shootings without any caveat. Prior to this police ambush, Obama would rightly give a strong condemnation to the killers, but would go on and say things ("But right now, the data shows that black folks are more vulnerable to these kinds of incidents. There is a particular burden that is being placed on a group of our fellow citizens.") which could be viewed by twisted radicals as rationalizing such attacks against police. An hour after my banning, Obama gave a speech which strongly condemned the attacks, and just ended with period. And the Baton Rouge attack ended up being the last such attack. I don't think I was being 'uncool' to anyone and certainly was far far far more tame and moderate than what talking heads were saying. If we only had a black president who could bridge the racial divide with a MLK type leadership. Not saying Obama bears blame, but the hope he promised seems to have gone the opposite direction. Really sad for everyone.
