FFA Movie Poll - 1974 Countdown Monday is here. (2 Viewers)

got no prob widdat. as with most Scorsese flicks involving crime, the final third is unravelly & ultimately unsatisfying. i just thought it might be too big culturally not to make lists
I also can't stand the multi-character voiceover either.

Goodfellas and Big Lebowski are probably the two main reasons I didn't want to do a KP 90s thread like I did for the 00s and first 1/2 of this decade.    Not sure how deep my list would go before I got to those two, but it would be awhile.

I assumed liked the SW mention that it would have to be a drama movie.  Horror, sci-fi, comedy are more hit or miss and I could see people leaving them off.  That was my line of thinking anyway.

Shawshank?
Have never seen it. :bag:

love your list just as much, and the play as well, but this was awwwwful.

ETA: Reminds me of one of the first Legends bands i saw. It had Spencer Davis, an Iron Butterly guy, a Rare Earth and i got comped to it in a casino and i still walked out. Davis kept getting DTs, another guy wouldnt stop birddoggin, they were wandering off the stage & generally phoning it in. Front Page was the cinematic equivalent of that
Fair enough, it was definitely well past Wilder’s prime

yeah, i misunderstood - it will be close.

two that haven't been mentioned yet that i think should be on every list are:"The Deer Hunter"

and THIS ONE, my #1 flick of all-time  :coffee:
:lmao:

These lists and years will be fun.  I remember really disliking your #1 film, but it has been years and years since I've watched it.   Deer Hunter is one that I think is great, but not one I can re-watch a lot.

"The good news is, you're fired. The bad news is you've got...all of you've got... just one week to regain your jobs, starting with tonight...starting with tonight's sit. Oh, have I got your attention now? Good... 'cause we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest.

As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anybody want to see second prize? Second prize is a Poulan Pro Chainsaw. Yeah, that's right, a shiny....powerful.....deadly.........................chainsaw. Third prize is.....................did i mention it's a Poulan?...........top o' the line, baby. Mitch & Murray saw to that personally.

Third prize is you're fired. Do you get the picture? Are you laughing now? You can't close the leads you're given, you can't close ####, you are ####! Hit the bricks, pal, and beat it,'cause you are going out!

Matter of fact, Mitch & Murray have authorized me *crosses the room, picks up the chainsaw* to add a fourth prize to the contest.

RRRRRRRRRRRRRRING-ging-ging-ging.....

Seems the logical to note the passing of actress Susan Anspach who died last week at 75.  She didn't have any credits in 1974 but she had a good run in the early to mid 70s with parts in Five Easy Pieces, Blume in Love and Play It Again Sam.

She's always been one of quintessential 70s actresses to me.  I don't think her idiosyncratic beauty and kooky sensuality would have gotten her leading lady roles a decade before or after.
