Alright men, now here's the play we're gonna use. I don't think the guards know this formation. It's called 'incidental punishment after the ball is blown dead.' Remember, any man you tackle gets an elbow, knee, or kick in the mouth
. Ugh...
The whole film is mediocre, but the football game is particularly annoying, filled with bad film cliches (the split screen, the slow motion final play,...). If you want to see football presented with panache, watch M*A*S*H, which predates this by several years.

When I retire, I'm considering writing hot takes on IMDB
I was hoping you'd find someone who didn't understand the past and present plot lines were connected.![]()
Ironically, they were probably the easiest 2 to find negative reviews for.

My father taught me many things here - he taught me in this room. He taught me: keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.
Astonishingly unapproachable, bored me to tears
I have been forced to watch the Godfather trilogy by a friend of mine who thinks, as do most people, that they are the best thing since sliced bread. I found "The Godfather" just about watchable, but no more - I would have given up if my friend hadn't been there, but this was completely intolerable. I couldn't follow who the people were (and didn't care) I couldn't relate it to the previous film. I couldn't relate the 1930s stuff to the 1950s stuff. There is no excitement no tension, no nothing. A complete waste of an evening. And it's so interminably long too. I'm having trouble filling out my ten lines for the review, because the film left almost no impression on me - except that feeling that I used to get at school when I was forced to sit through the most boring lesson in the world. And God help me, I'm going to have to watch the third one. Like taking cod-liver oil. Ugh.
As overrated and boring as the first...if not more!
Well I watched the first Godfather film and wasn't impressed what so ever, completely overrated. However Part II is one of those films that people always go on about being a better sequel than the first...unfortunately it is even more boring and slow than the first.
Again its incredibly long, and literally nothing happens in this film! Only one 'big' event happens (Michael's home being shot up), which isn't that exciting, and the whole film slowly develops around this. There is also the De Niro 'becoming' Don Vito side story which I don't think adds anything to the story at all. He goes from being a normal guy to then shooting the main boss in the town then instantly somehow becomes The Don..with no retaliation what so ever, and it doesn't even show you him becoming The Don. The next time it cuts to his story he is already The Don. Maybe I missed a part (which is possible as I ended up messing around on the internet while watching as it was that boring)
Very Long and very boring.
While the first movie had a lot of freshness and intensity, this movie is explaining the rise of Vito and Michael with more detail and explanation, so that it is taking a much longer breathing to say it. The mixture of past and present may work for some, but it didn't work for me. I had the feeling the film was repeating itself constantly with past and present, even when the scenes with Vito Corleone weren't that good and a bit too cliché and strangely comical. I don't understand why this film is rated to high.
THE GODFATHER: PART II
I am sure they would have been there if I kept digging through the 700+ reviews.I was hoping you'd find someone who didn't understand the past and present plot lines were connected.
I should have focused more on baseball - my teams suck so far. Thanks KP for running this. I was focusing on baseball so I stayed away from the earlier movie poll threads but this was fun.
I had no idea about the timing so I jumped in too early with my rankings. The slow pace and spotlighting works in this format because it gives people a chance to fill in gaps in their experience.
I've only seen of the 4 of the 10 Best Picture nominees for 2010 so I may have to dig for Benji sequels.
I'm the only one who voted for Foxy Brown? Are you people blind? And now for the best of the rest (along with # of votes received)...

Ladies and gentlemen, you are all aware that a repulsive murderer has himself been repulsively, and, perhaps deservedly, murdered.
Read the book instead
It's horrible how many times that after a movie I sit thinking, "The book was so much better." I know that a four hour long movie would not be reasonable, but that is what it takes to properly adapt a book into a movie! I am a HUGE Agatha Christie fan, and "Murder on the Orient Express" was one of the first books I ever read by her. It has been a few years since then, so I've forgotten most of the characters, but the plot was so unique that of course it has stood out in my mind. While watching the movie, I was appalled at how little screen time the suspects got! How could anyone (who had not read the book) have formed any guesses as to who the killer was before it was revealed? You call that a mystery movie? If you can't form educated guesses, then who cares who the murderer is! Anyway, apart from not enough screen time for the suspects and not enough time for the movie in general, I did not enjoy this at all. Where were the clues? I sure didn't see any that would have lead me to believe that a certain person was guilty. And Agatha's famous red herrings were not in the least bit conclusive or suggestive!! Apart from that, Albert Finney did not resemble the Poirot I picture while reading Christie's novels. The Poirot I picture is plump, with, of course, the twirling mustache (it wasn't twirly enough in the movie), and a rounder, egg shaped head (as is always described to the reader). Apart from physical differences, "my" Poirot is kind, not at all modest, does not yell, and has a certain way of questioning his suspects so that it is more conversation than questioning. The Poirot in the movie was way too snappy with his questions, and he yelled!! He yelled!! The calm, cool, collected Poirot, does not yell! Poirot is what makes his novels interesting, and yet it was mostly Poirot who ruined this movie for me.
MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS
Inception, Social Network, Kids Are Alright and Toy Story 3.I should have focused more on baseball - my teams suck so far.
Which 4 have you seen? Scanning that list, I think only 4 - 5 of them are going to make my list.
Finally some one speaks out against Hollywood's negative stereotype-laden portrayal of street criminals! The behavior of street criminals is laughably exaggerated to justify the vigilantism.
The only two I can think of that are possible to hit every list are: Jaws, and The Exorcist. So Godfather 2 was on all the lists, and Chinatown off of only 1.
Are there any other movies that are going to be this way? I guess probably the first Godfather, but I can't think of many others off the top of my head that have a shot at a clean sweep of the voting.
Jaws? Star Wars? No Country for Old Men?Are there any other movies that are going to be this way? I guess probably the first Godfather, but I can't think of many others off the top of my head that have a shot at a clean sweep of the voting.
I thought SW or Empire, but sci-fi is pretty hit and miss with people. Jaws might be a good guess.Jaws? Star Wars? No Country for Old Men?
will rank "Suspiria" "Slap Shot" "Annie Hall" (just off top of me head, need to check for others) over SW.Star Wars?
I assumed liked the SW mention that it would have to be a drama movie. Horror, sci-fi, comedy are more hit or miss and I could see people leaving them off. That was my line of thinking anyway. The only two I can think of that are possible to hit every list are: Jaws, and The Exorcist.
With 1989 coming up, maybe Glory could hit it.I assumed liked the SW mention that it would have to be a drama movie. Horror, sci-fi, comedy are more hit or miss and I could see people leaving them off. That was my line of thinking anyway.
Shawshank?
but will SW be on your list?will rank "Suspiria" "Slap Shot" "Annie Hall" (just off top of me head, need to check for others) over SW.
I've never seen it.With 1989 coming up, maybe Glory could hit it.
debatable, but has a muchmuch better shot than E.T. or McFly or any of it's sequels/prequels/Nyquils ...but will SW be on your list?
Se7en should make every list. I would think usual suspects would too, although maybe not at the top.The only two I can think of that are possible to hit every list are: Jaws, and The Exorcist.
:finger: to you and wikkid then.debatable, but has a muchmuch better shot than E.T. or McFly or any of it's sequels/prequels/Nyquils ...
At least you’ve got a month to fix that.I've never seen it.
#### McFly and Doc.:finger: to you and wikkid then.
got no prob widdat. as with most Scorsese flicks involving crime, the final third is unravelly & ultimately unsatisfying. i just thought it might be too big culturally not to make listsNot from me.

nice try, but you'll never approach my primacy as a BttF hatah. in fact, i'm Almost Famous for it#### McFly and Doc.
seriously, what a sniveling little ####### #### MMc was - him and Bueller can go chomp a bag of Richards.
no ... really cant stand that ####
love your list just as much, and the play as well, but this was awwwwful.Damn I didn’t realize Wilder’s remake of the The Front Page was 74. I’ve got to see that based on how much I like Wilder, Lemon and His Girl Friday.
Yeah, I have been using my insider knowledge of what is coming up to try to stay ahead so I can get some of these movies in. There are a few that I want to watch for the list that I haven't seen or have little memory of: Glory, Heathers, Do the Right Thing, Uncle Buck. It's going to be hard to knock Loverboy and Road House off the list though. At least you’ve got a month to fix that.
I’m going to go full Yankee if Glory does not end up there.
none other despises McFly as much as Inice try, but you'll never approach my primacy as a BttF hatah. in fact, i'm Almost Famous for it
