Hoo-yah!Malcolm X might be the biggest riser for me so far in a draft so far. I remember liking it, but I don't think I fully realized how great of a movie it is. How did Denzel lose to Pacino for Best Actor?
lol, I get they felt like Pacino was due but he was better in the supporting role in GGGR- that should have been his makeup win.Hoo-yah!
This idea of "due" drives me crazy with the awards. Some people miss out. Sorry, Dan Marino, just wasn't your time. Sorry, Warren Moon - bad luck, man.lol, I get they felt like Pacino was due but he was better in the supporting role in GGGR- that should have been his makeup win.
It is a cycle. Now I like Scent of a Woman and Pacino. It just wasn't a Best Actor worthy performance. Same thing happened in 39 when Stewart (Mr. Smith)lost Best Actor to Robert Donat (Mr. Chips). Then the next year they gave Stewart the award for Philadelphia Story when Fonda should have won for Grapes of Wrath. It would take Fonda 40 years to finally win one. This idea of "due" drives me crazy with the awards. Some people miss out. Sorry, Dan Marino, just wasn't your time. Sorry, Warren Moon - bad luck, man.
But yeah, his performance was horrible in that movie, though I also think everything was horrible in that movie. Then Denzel got his "make-up" Best Actor Oscar for Training Day, in which he also was not that good. It's a cycle.
If it weren't for the existence of Forrest Gump, that movie would be a top contender for worst best-picture winner ever.

I always think of him as the guy that cracked the 39 StepsDonat is Mr. Chips
It had a great soundtrack, but I love history, and I loved how they weaved history within the story.Great soundtrack, right?
We can, as long as you are willing to open your heart to FG.We can no longer be iFriends. :(
I hae talked about my dislike for the movie here a lot, so I will focus on what I did like. 2nd best movie soundtrack ever and the most significant to me. I got that double discer in like 7th grade and played the #### out of it. It lead me down so many great avenues of classic rock.It had a great soundtrack, but I love history, and I loved how they weaved history within the story.
I reiterate my statement. :(We can, as long as you are willing to open your heart to FG.We can no longer be iFriends. :(

Forrest Gump was definitely overrated, but I would take still take it over Birdman or 12 Years A Slave. If it weren't for the existence of Forrest Gump, that movie would be a top contender for worst best-picture winner ever.
I take back everything I said about foreign documentaries and your taste. Clearly I have more to learn. If it weren't for the existence of Forrest Gump, that movie would be a top contender for worst best-picture winner ever.
dont see it mattering all that much on closing dayCan't toggle spoilers anymore. Anyone have a fix?
People use the tags in other threads as well. Again, if anyone knows a fix, I would greatly appreciate it.dont see it mattering all that much on closing day

I'm guessing you use "jazz hands" in a not ironic way quite often.Top 5 all time
Seriously, fantastic movie from beginning to end.
That would be a no. I do like this though since usually I get put more into the neanderthal group.I'm guessing you use "jazz hands" in a not ironic way quite often.
Ergo, Encino Man.That would be a no. I do like this though since usually I get put more into the neanderthal group.![]()
Just sent mine inI am behind on the math and stuff, but it looks like currently only 16 with my list.
mine will be coming in a fewTime for gin + lime and tallying some movie lists...
I did not. I tend to binge scary movies when the wife isn’t around and that hasn’t happened recently.@Ilov80s - you end up watching Reservoir Dogs again?
@Scoresman - did you get around to watching Candyman?
Yes and it was better than I remember but it just won’t ever be a movie I love.@Ilov80s - you end up watching Reservoir Dogs again?

I was talking to scores about it and I said that I thought it held up fairly well. Maybe not as scary as it was when I was in HS, but like I told him, I still dig the fusion of the the real life/urban legends and the Freddy-style bad guy that needs people to believe to keep doing what he does.Yes and it was better than I remember but it just won’t ever be a movie I love.
Also Candyman was probably my favorite horror movie when I was younger. It’s one of the few that we’re truly scary.
I don't mind a slower pace for the countdown. Builds suspenseI will try my best in the morning, but the countdown might not start until later in the day or at night. The gin isn't going well with the 2.5hours of sleep last night, so I will call it a night tonight on trying to do this math crap. I will do that in the morning with my coffee and go from there..
Yeah, I'd actually like it if it were slowed down some...gives us time to insult each others taste in movies.I don't mind a slower pace for the countdown. Builds suspense
