FFA Movie Poll - 2010 it's countdown Monday! (1 Viewer)

I also finally remembered to post the links of the sites to look for streaming availability in the OP.  I will carry those over to the following years as well.

I am going to try to watch wikkid's 30pt movie in the next couple days.

I have knocked off 4 '89 movies over the last few days as well.  I think all I have left on my pile is Uncle Buck and Born on the 4th of July, so I'm looking forward to suggestions from that year too.
The deeper that I go into 1989, the more that I realize that it may be the first year that I go to 20 because I'm not sure what to cut.

Have you seen Kenneth Branagh's Henry V?  Not always at the top of list for the year, but it may be my favorite Shakespeare adaptation.

89 is so deep, I am also struggling to see what will get cut. I haven't seen Henvy V but it's one of the movies I want to check out.

Democratized Shakespeare for moviegoers - incredible accomplishment. Unbelievable attention to re-naturing the verse to make it sound as conversational as possible, as Henry V cast member Derek Jacobi had worked so hard to do on stage. Made Luhrmann's Romeo & Juliet possible (good thing?), as well as further similar attempts - McKellen's Richard III the most successful in that vein

89 is just brutal , probably won't be able to find a place in my top 20 for No Holds Barred or Milo and Otis which just hurts me to the core. Have 31 movies to narrow down to 20 just not fair.  :(

After our brief stop in the realm of movies from the past decade, we will once again be travelling back to the 80s.   We get a year when we see Marty McFly travel to our time and Bill & Ted go back in time.   1989 will be up after 2010.
1989 is impossible.

1989 is impossible.
Only one 20+ movie i can find, and precious few that will get scores in the teens in my attempt at a scale that plays across the years

ETA: One thing that's funny about being a gen older than most of you is that i generally like 80s music a lot more than y'all do and 80s movies a lot less

Still intending to watch Incendies, Certified Copy, and Louder than a Bomb before finalizing my list.  Now...finding time to watch.  Who needs sleep??
I think you will really like CC and Incendies.
You were right!

I also watched wikkid's Please Give not only for his recommendation, but because Catherine Keener.   Unfortunately didn't enjoy that one, though.   Still trying to sneak Louder Than a Bomb in before submitting a list tomorrow.

I’ve only seen a handful of movies from2010, so, i’m bowing out of submitting a list. I am grateful for the conversation, though, and adding movies to my must see list. Maybe tonite Exit through the Gift Shop.

My Updated List

Inception 28  - I like original movies and thought this was the best two hours of interesting of the year

The Town 26 - Very well put together and put Affleck on the map as a directorial force

The Fighter  26 - best ensemble performance, felt very real

Winter's Bone 22 - a bit depressing which isn't typically my bag, but you felt like you were there

The American 22 - I'm a sucker for any story in a European setting...just loved the tone, cinematography and overall feel

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World 18 - the main chick is super hot, fun film

The Social Network 18 - an interesting story to follow

The Runaways 16 - I love rock n roll movies and Joan Jett, unlikely to get many votes but I dug it

Predators 10 - love sci fi and the over the top typecasting made it fun

Book Of Eli 6 - a sucker for the post apocalyptic genre

Kick ### - 4 great, but a bit overhyped for my taste

True Grit 4 - I love westerns and thought this was well done, albeit predictable

Life as We Know It 2 - I like this more than critics and the audience...some underrated comedic moments and Heigl appropriately casted as annoying

@TripItUp - Valhalla was a 2009.  (that was the reason for me needing an updated list).  ;)

I have to say, 2009 is going to be a kick ### year for foreign movies.  Seems like everything that people wanted to include for this year were '09 according to our rules.

Different strokes and all, and I am not done with lists, but I have to admit that it is bumming me out that Predators has the same # of votes that Black Swan does.
