Pittsburgh Pirates +106 [R Dempster - R - Action]

I am going to wager the Cubs trade Dempster to LA tomorrow. The Cubs are having a minor league pitcher travel to Chicago as a contingency to a Dempster transaction. And Cubs manager Dale Sveum said he would be "surprised" if Dempster was still with the team after Tuesday's trade deadline.

(If a trade does not occur Dempster is still 0-3 with a 3.20 ERA his last three vs Pittsburgh and Burnett is 5-0 against the Cubs.)
Just a heads up, if they trade dempster you don't get the +106 line, you get whatever the new line is it opens at. I'd never recommend placing an action bet in baseball.

Are you sure?? I was, up until now, fairly certain you get it at what you placed the bet at. Otherwise what would be the point?

exactly, there is no point, always bet listed. You may have a local that operates like this but any offshore shop will just give you the new line.

I'm using RB/EVO. I will defer to you.

:bag: :bag: :bag: UPDATED :bag: :bag: :bag: 2012 Olympics Artistic Gymnastics Wagering Guide

USA Women's Artistic Team GOLD +130 at SB, +134 at Pinny. This has dropped from +183 at open and +175 a couple weeks ago thanks to "The Flying Squirrel" Gabby Douglas's breakout performances on the USA circuit this summer. I think this is a 3-unit play. USA has two threats for the individual all-around podium in Jordyn Wieber and Douglas, world vault champ McKayla Maroney has recovered from her concussion and nailed the Amanar at the Trials, and Ali Raisman is a three-apparatus contributor with surprisingly low variance for elite gymnastics.

USA's huge edge on vault scoring will more than make up for their relative weakness on bars, big vault numbers will take the pressure off during beam, and the top teams are bunched too closely together on floor for anyone to make a big move there. I loved this team at +175 when I last posted leans here, but I still like 3 units to make 4ish at current prices +130 or +134.

Kohei Uchimura (JPN) GOLD MEDAL in Men's All-Around -320 at SB, -314 at Pinny. He can be challenged on individual apparatuses, but no one is in his class all-around. Lots of wood here, but he's a bigger favorite than hsi price indicates. Lay down enough to win 2 units.

Viktoria Komova (RUS) GOLD MEDAL in Women's Uneven Bars -115 at SB, +134 at Pinny. Komova is the #2 female gymnast in the world, bars are her best event, and none of the USA girls are a threat. I loved this one when it opened at -104 at Pinny, not crazy about -115 at SB but still playable, ecstatic about positive juice on Komova at Pinny. 2 unit play.

Jordyn Wieber (USA) GOLD MEDAL on Individual All-Around +100 at SB, +119 at Pinny. Wieber is the world champ and has won pretty much everything since she started competing regionally as a junior. She opened at -104 at Pinny, but with Komova healthy and Douglas's breakout, it seems like the gap is closing. There's also the whispering that Wieber's jock demeanor rather than acting like a pretty little flower doesn't play as well with older Eastern judges than Western one, but the new scoring system implemented last year mitigates that quite a bit. Downgrading to 1 unit because of Komova and Douglas, but still a play.
Women's team leading by 1.3 points after three events. :towelwave:

Pittsburgh Pirates -119

The Pirates are trying to keep up with Atlanta for the league's top wild-card spot. They are facing Travis Wood who is 0-3 with a 12.64 ERA his past three starts. Two of those were vs STL who hit lefties pretty good, but the other was a home game vs MIA where he gave up 8 ER in 4.2 innings.

On Friday vs St. Louis, Wood became the first starter in baseball history to allow a homer in each of the first five innings.

The Pirates have 78 home runs since June 1.

5D honored the wager at +106.

Well, we just lost the fading GER M8+ bet for rowing. Tough loss, it was a good race and a solid wager, just didn't work out at almost 3/1. All 5 other boats gave Germany a run for it, the Germans didn't have open water (4+ seconds) on any of the crews. At about the 1000 meter mark (1/2 way), GB was in the lead and fighting hard. Germany was just too powerful and pushed through them slowly and painfully in the final 500 meters. Canada, simply did not show up today, did not push the Germans at all throughout the race which was disappointing, they would've been my prediction to upset and looked that way all the way through until this race. Here's the results: My link

Also watched Mahe look really good in his semi this morning. Dude was down to a 32 strokes per minute rating and still won by a little open water, which means he was in cruise control in an Olympic semi. Can not wait for this final, Synek had a nice semi as well. My link

You were right insofar as RB/EVO moved it to 140. I used to use 5D so maybe that's were my belief came from.

:tumbleweed:

not as excited this week about the golf tourneys. I took Tiger(heavy juice) in all his matchups as i think he probably wins. 4.5/1 odds not that attractive but i threw a unit on it anyway(just in case he goes low first round and i don't get better odds on the weekend). Played Bo to win at 30/1 too. In the Reno open I have Chris Kirk at 25/1, John Merrick at 30/1, and Camillo at 40/1.

 I like it. Took 'em all, I think

any of those row boat races going on today?
Results up, doing OK so far: http://www.london2012.com/schedule-and-results/day=28-july/list.htmlPost race coverage of the full races if you have Comcast, in HD and pretty sweet: http://www.nbcolympics.com/video/rowing/heats-m2-w2-m1x-w1x-m4x-w4x-m2x-lm4-m8.html
It sounds like our boy Drysdale is doing well so far. What about this Ondrej Synek character? 5D has them matched up right now:

Men's Single Sculls - to advance further, then best finishing positionTue 7/31 339 Ondrej Synek -110 6:00AM 340 Mahe Drysdale -110
Well it was these two from the start, so the fact that we got in at +200 is just fantastic value. I think it's up for grabs, and I'd still lean Mahe to pull it out. You truly can't read into heat scores. Even head to head, as long as you qualify (even in a semi-final), in non-olympic courses where the water has a current, lane positioning is absolutely crucial. These are man-made bodies of water in olympic events, so lane position is irrelevant, you just have to qualify. Not on a large scale, but there's always a bit of "playing possum" when you compare times with that said, even head to head, no one wants to tip their hand/wants to give the other crews a false sense of confidence. You see it when two crews in a heat/semi are neck and neck, but one crew takes their stroke rating down. They are not showing 110% just yet, gamesmanship. Plus these races are grueling, as long as they qualify they are conserving as much energy as possible. From a betting perspective, that is a book's best friend for someone going for the favorite, they have the potential to get their clocks cleaned. We are in a good spot as long as Mahe is in range, which is what makes these races so exciting. I think from what I've read he should've been the favorite from the onset, and I'm pretty psyched for this final.

ETA: Another really good way to read the results is as follows: For a single, a boat length lead is about one second; for a four, it's about two seconds; for an eight, it's four seconds. Very key to reading into the results. A length is a sizeable W in rowing, and a good barometer. Also helps you see how hard your boat got pushed by the competition. If it's not even close, they dial it down and go into conservation mode as stated above. So, Mahe won his heat vs. crappy competition in a single by 11 seconds. He was on cruise control for half the race, great sign. Why you can't compare him to the other heats, he wasn't even close to pushed. Same for Snyek, you basically can't compare their scores they both won by so much against garbage. Times in first two heats much lower because they were in danger of being relegated to the rep, or repechage. It's a "do or die" race where you have to place top two (or sometimes first) to make the semi, that's a death sentence since it's an extra race the automatic qualifiers don't participate in. So, we're in good shape, but I love breaking this stuff down because I know it from racing and it's fun to try to track.

Other races I'm on: Men's Four, Aussies set a world record in a tight heat. +300 :excited: Lightweight Men's Four GB +140 won a tight heat, so looking good and Men's Eight Not Germany +260 Germans looking good but I still like the bet.

Looking good thus far, gents.
I am so confused at all of this. I know i bet on all of them, but i can't find them for the life of me. We still alive? and if so, when are the next showings for our guys?

We just lost the Men's Lightweight 4, less than 2 seconds separated the top 4 crews, with GB getting punked at the very last second of a close race. Had the lead, and South Africa literally came out of nowhere and caught them at the finish line. It's the rowing version of the Harden 3 in the NBA Finals to cover. Good race though, but this was a particularly nasty loss that I'm kind of peeved at.

We're still alive for the Men's Four tomorrow morning with Australia to win and Mahe to win the Men's Single Sculls on Saturday.

ETA: It's worth watching the replay of the Men's Lightweight 4- on NBC's website if you didn't see this race yet, especially if you had money on it. Heartbreaker, I can't watch it anymore (Video should be in with the times soon). My link

Looks like every week 1 preseason game is tease-able

lets see, 16 teams in combinations of 3.....560 bets, guess I better get started today so I can be done by Sunday

ETA: maybe 2 teamers is the way to go, only 120 combinations

I'm leaning Russia -5.5, but I can be convinced...thoughts?
I only went Brazil because the US team only beat them by about 10 points in their "pre-season" matchup a couple weeks ago.I don't know anything about either team really, so don't tail me.
too late.
Oops. Well, a 20-15 1st quarter looks good to me.

I could've done without that last 3...I didn't have Brazil +210 but I did have u75.5 2h, that shot ####ed us both
Sorry lumpy but thank you Pats. I was initially leaning towards the digusting communist. I got lucky with the +5.5 and had the over but would've loved the +210. :(

Thanks for this even though it did not come in. I did hedge for the last leg so I made a unit on it!
Good job. I hit SEA +101 to cover the unit spent on the original wager.I’m in the middle of an accounting class right now. It’s a whole semester’s worth of work condensed into five weeks. All I have been doing is studying accounting principles and strategies, and handicapping baseball. Focusing on the one has really lent itself to the other. One of these parlays is going to hit soon.

I emailed 5D this afternoon and they reinstated the wager on the men’s four.

It’s like they are gradin bets that they don’t even understand!!

I called them last night, it was a mistake. It's back into my account as a pending play, race is tomorrow morning.Oh, MAHE MAHE with the open water W this glorious Friday morning! :banned: :excited:

Aussies get the gold tomorrow morning and we made a nice little profit on these Olympic games with the oars, at least we're even going into this race. Mahe was my big play.
