king felix has taken a small lead over weaver. I'm glad i posted this here because in my bookmaker history it just says field, no idea who was involved in the bet.

lump, what's up with liking the Giants in ALL your teasers? They have looked pretty awful this preseason. And Carolina beat the hell out of them in N.Y. late last season. Or is the revenge angle the reason you like them?

Back from Vegas,

Epic weekend and by far the best one I've ever had live. Bet just a handful of games, but bet them big. Thought I made a huge mistake when I got up a very sizable amount playing blackjack after the Badger game before I got blackout drunk. Woke up Sunday morning ### naked across the bed in the room I was sharing with my buddy. Awesome way to start a day. The second I realized where I was, the realization of the wad of cash I had the night before and the booze I was pouring down my throat hit me like a punch to the spine. So here I am, searching the hotel room frantically for my jeans trying not to imagine the worst case scenario, all while completely naked and cussing like a sailor. Find my jeans in the corner of the bathroom, somehow the shoes still in the leg holes. Sure enough, wallet completely empty, no credit, business cards, cash, id, nothing. Cell phone dead.

Put boxers on, sit down on the bed with anxiety making me want to puke more than the hangover. Trying to recall what happened. Flashes at the roulette table, remember being out on the strip. Remembered buying a $600 round of shots for a bunch of people I would never recognize again. Buddy is starting to giggle asking if I had ever seen the Hangover. I'm trying to play it at least somewhat cool, not wanting to talk about amounts or details since none of the other 3 guys I was with were really the degenerate gambler type I am.

I remember vaguely coming back to the room, pretty sure I was being escorted by hotel security. I had dumped my pockets in one of the room dresser drawers. Loose assortment of cash in there as well but I realize immediately that there is nowhere near what I had at one point, like a few scattered 10s and 20s.

Then, when everything was looking it's worst...........JACKPOT. I find 8 separate sportsbook tickets from three different hotels. I am in complete shock when I realize that the dollar amounts they add up to was even larger then what I remember having at the blackjack table. Awesome. Sick to see how the night had progressed and I obviously had gotten braver by betting larger and larger amounts as we got close to the daylight hours. Last play was from around 6:15 at the luxor (where we were staying) on Boise St ML.

So now I'm relieved that I hadn't blown every penny I had brought out there, and then I realize that all these tickets were on the games that were supposed to happen on Sunday and Monday. We were scheduled to fly out that Sunday afternoon.

I talk one of my buddies into staying an extra day after I find out how much it will cost to change flights from Sunday to early this morning.

Got home this morning, fiance says she is leaving me, takes the kid and goes. Just got into work, even though I'm sure I look haggard and and still trying to figure out how dramatically if at all my life has changed since leaving on Thursday. Story kind of sounded cooler in my head because its starting to sink in more while I type. I'm really hoping she thinks I just blew a ton of money and got carried away. She doesn't know I ended up coming home with virtually as much as she makes in a year. Really need sleep and to patch this up if I can, kind of had a feeling this was a long time coming when she started getting things off of her chest this morning.

What a way to start the season. My stomach probably has an ulcer the size of a grapefruit. Don't drink beer on adderal or liquor on xanex, folks. Especially not in the same day. Buddy that ended up staying with me is trying to get us to book flights again on friday.

Still haven't worked up the nerve to play at the poker tables, have a strange, unsubstantiated fear that someone will make me feel like a "newb".

Made a lot of money.... newly single.Sounds like a win-win to me! :stirspot:
Actually, having a hard time thinking about enjoying the winnings. I'm never won enough live to have to sign tax forms for. Now I'll receive all of these at the end of the year, correct?I was a nervous mess going through the airport with that much cash, split as much as I could between me and my buddy for our front pockets. Checked another envelope with my bag. And sent 2 other Fedex packages from the casino to my work that should be here by tomorrow.Could I have walked right on the plane with that much in a paper bag? Do the metal strips in large bills set off metal detectors if you have enough of them?

Take a cell phone pic of one of these tickets and this gets to epic status. I tend to buy the story, but a 5 figure winning book ticket would help push it that extra mile.edit: never mind I see you stayed extra days to cash the tickets.

Actually, having a hard time thinking about enjoying the winnings. I'm never won enough live to have to sign tax forms for. Now I'll receive all of these at the end of the year, correct?
I don't understand why anyone would put themselves in this position. If you're going to put a crazy amount of money on a game, get a $9,500 ticket at one place... a $9,500 ticket at another place... a $9,500 ticket at yet another place. When the transaction exceeds $10K, the IRS gets involved.

They were crazy amounts for me, but I was not betting 10k a game.Pretty sure I was signing forms for anything over $1000 or so in winnings.

You will get flagged for this by the casino. I've seen it happen.

when boise state went up 17-0 i jumped the gun and bet them at +800 to win the championship, glad i did, it's at +500 already. SB.com must have been paying attention to this. Now have 1k to win 10k on boise to win the NC
Big fan of this team, didn't watch the game until their last drive, but they brought back pretty much everyone from a very strong team. Get by Oregon State at home and go to Nevada - that's about it on their schedule. Then, in the title game they will be at least +7 if not more to a very strong big school. But even so +200/+300 at worst.
What if it's TCU?
I will quit gambling forever.
SeriouslyPolls came out and TCU is 4/5 and Boise is 3/3. This is NOT that far fetched.

What books in Vegas even take bets that big? Maybe an NFL monday night game or the super bowl. I'm not real familiar with limits in vegas but I was under the impression it was easier to get big bets down online than in vegas. Hell greek only takes 3k on a college football game spread. Bookmaker is at 5k.ETA: bookmaker is actually 10k on college

Made multiple plays for over 5k on sides. Luxor wouldn't do anything over 3k though.Pretty sure Hilton's limits were $20k on college sides.

:scared: I did a $5,000 teaser at some hole-in-the-wall book last time I was there.

Oh, I know. I signed for everything when I left. I thought you walked out with them then and there, but apparently they are mailed at year end. Luxor let me sign for everything when I checked out. Hilton and MGM I cashed out everything at once and just signed a slip at the window and provided a copy of my drivers license.

CC Sabathia +100 to win the AL Cy Young at sportsbook. Max is $100. Going for 20-5 tonight.
CC was +200 four hours ago. I was trying to figure out why "field" (Felix) was -400. 20-5 is in another world than 11-10, and I think voters weigh records much heavier than strikeouts and era, even though CY is an individual award and W/L is more of a team component, especially with the run support that the Yanks give CC.

Evening, gents. :kicksrock:

Anyone have thoughts/info on two of the late games ... Lincecum vs.Enright & Kershaw vs. Latos?

Trying to get a feel for one of these games. Timmy looks like he's back in form, and Enright has been super impressive. Considering U8 there. The total in the L.A./S.D. game is stupid. I'm seeing 5½. To me, that is over or nothing. Not sure about the side.

5.5??? Might be the lowest o/u i have ever seen. Who's pitching?? Sandy Koufax vs. Bob Gibson?? Walter Johnson vs. Cy Young? Nolan Ryan vs. Jim Palmer??

Evidently. Thought I was looking at NHL lines for a minute. (GOD, I miss hockey......)I see 6 at The Greek, but the under is -135.

For the second night in a row, the Dodgers/Padres game is the only game not available on the MLB package.

WHY! It's the game I most want to watch.

Off topic kinda but its gambling related. I am only 25 years old and have a decent amount of money saved up. I have been looking at different ways to invest - CDs, IRAs, mutual funds, etc. A lot of good options out there and one example is this. If I invest 5k into a 5yr cd. After 5 yrs, I would essentially collect $750.

I can't help but think the best way to invest my money is through gambling. Heck, in what other business venture can you ROI over 10% on one game (Super Bowl for me last yr). And I would venture to guess I could ROI at least 5% on all Super Bowls without a whole lot of risk. Just playing middles, etc. I hit a $550 middle on Sunday - that's one game and almost as much as I would make with a 5 yr CD.

I know it's gambling and it takes time (which the other investments don't) and that surely I can lose, but it stops and makes me think about what to do with my money I have been saving up.

What would be your goal to do with this money. Down payment on a future house? retirement? Etc......Not sure how much you're talking about, but the first thing I would do is max out your Roth IRA ($5k a year after taxes):Pros - you already paid taxes on it, so when you withdraw it, you won't have to pay anyCons - can't take it out until you're 65If you have the $5k, that's what I would do. Over the long term, the market averages b/w 9-10%, so just investing in a mutual fund that mirrors the S&P 500 should accomplish something similar. Clearly, there will be larger gains/losses over the short term....but long term, this should work. Also, do you have a job? Does the employer offer a 401k? Do they match anything? Can handle this offline if you want. send me a PM. I consider personal finance a serious hobby of mine.

You should use sports investing for extra money, fun stuff on the side.1. If you're as good at sports investing as you say you are you should have never taken the last 6 months off2. You'll burn up your prop outs fairly quickly betting anything over $1003. when you get a large enough bankroll finding places to get bets down becomes more difficult than winning4. the government gets ~50% of your gambling winnings, at a certain point you can't just not pay your taxes, getting $2500 checks and trying to hide them just doesn't workI look at the sports stuff i do as extra fun money, vacations, big boy toys, nice dinners with the wife, etc. It's a hobby that allows me to have a little fun.At 25 years old you should be burying money into a 401k or some other long term investment.

Well this should be interesting....brobury doubled my withdrawal request for some reason, it's not like this was a small withdrawal, I have no idea why they doubled it. It hasn't showed up in my bank acct yet so maybe it won't be doubled when it shows up, we'll see.

Go take some classes on options trading. It's like gambling, but with no limits and you won't get cutoff. Pick commodities or stocks or exchanges.

Matinee plays:

Mets/Nats U8 -105

O's/Yanks U10 -105

Back to the well with my DONK unders. The thing about unders is, you are winning ... until you're not!
