I've watched every UW game this season and I'd take Nebraska -22.
I don't know man, UW finished strong, and while it was against weak-### Pac 10 teams, you could tell they really made a push there at the end. I also watched them and you have to admit, they wanted this badly. And now they get everything they could've hoped for -- a good bowl game against not only a big name, but a chance at redemption. It doesn't get better. There can't be many other teams that worked as hard as Washington must have the last month, I bet. And a young coach who this also means a ton to. On the other side, you have to think Nebraska can't be as fired up. They had higher hopes and now return to the same Bowl they did last year? And facing Washington, how exciting is that for them?I've also seen Nebraska and yes, they are much better. But if I can be pretty sure on what side has all the motivation in a bowl game, and get two TDs, I'll take it. And even if Nebraska controls things, having a QB like Locker should at least keep a backdoor cover very much alive. Good enough for me.
Nebraska fans travel. I've gone to a lot of Holiday Bowls, and they're going to have more fans than UW. Getting to the bowl game against Wazzu in the Apple Cup was the Huskies' big game. They made it; they're happy. Nebraska absolutely destroyed them in September. You don't just turn 56-21 around because you're motivated. That won't stop the run, which they haven't done all year. Plus, this is Sarkisian's first bowl game as a head coach. I just don't buy that he can have them not only ready, but playing over their heads.
I don't get the big deal with fans...and especially so at Qualcomm, won't matter. Not even sure why it keeps coming up; what games are we seeing this make a difference?I also don't agree that Washington is somehow just content because they won the Apple Cup. They wanted this and got everything they could've asked for. In fact, the one thing that's hard to argue against - no matter what side you like - is that Washington HAS to be more excited about this than Nebraska. Can't disagree with you on "turning that previous score around", they won't, and you are of course right about stopping the run. However, I doubt we see that same performance, especially from Locker. And I don't why you don't buy that a promising young coach can have a team playing over their heads. Or even have them ready? Why not? I would think Sarkisian's SC days taught him quite a bit about Bowl preparation.
Every interview I've heard with UW players (and there have been a lot on local radio here) has been talking about the Apple Cup, and how great it was to get to a bowl game through them. Not one even spoke about Nebraska or even mentioned the Holiday Bowl, other than to say they reached their goal of getting to a bowl game. These guys are just happy to be there. They're facing a pissed off Nebraska team that is deeper, more talented and better coached. I don't see Sarkisian somehow getting them to overcome the fact that they've already called their season a success after beating a bad Wazzu team. Not one said they wanted to make up for getting embarrassed at home by Nebraska--they're done. They're going to go to San Diego, see the sun for the first time in two months. get blown out and go home satisfied.
Fair enough, that much I can buy. I would love to know if that is indeed the case with the entire team, as well as Sarkisian. You would think (hope?) football players would have more pride than that but I guess we'll see....

nittany -

just an FYI - we ignore LHUCKS here. His record in this thread is something like 2-19 with his posted picks. Just wanted to get you aboard with this. Like Sonny (or was it DD?) said, he gets plenty of attention that he needs in other threads.

Is this the place I say I was way wrong on this game? I'm just hoping this one stays under.
Just put it right underneath your three MAXED out plays on Vick's UNDEr rushing yards last night.Seems like a good place for it there. :thumbup:BTW: Just breaking balls; don't get all aggy.

I'ma be right pissed if Maryland doesn't go over because of the missed extra point (37.5).
There ya go.East Carolina is the worst team to make a bowl this year, I should have put more coin on Terps.
 Thanks to all that talked me into MD -7.5

On Ill/Baylor O 65 for part of the MD winnings- Can't see a whole lot of D being played there and need something to root for.

The more I think about it I like Arizona later - upto 4.5 at some places. OK ST. was one win away against in state rival Oklahoma from going to Conference Championship game. They have to be dissappointed to be playing here. Arizona has lost 4 straight and you would think would be looking to go out on a high note. Note that these schools start a home and home next year in Arizona - I am not sure what impact that has, if any, other than I wonder if the coaching staffs will be more "vanilla" than we might otherwise expect in an end of season meaningless bowl game.

GLTA AB

1u Illinois -1 (too late for this one)

1u Zona +4.5

CBB:

2u: Utah St -20

1u: ND +1.5

Wich St -13

Boise -14

UTEP -14

Tex Arl +33

NBA:

1u: Pistons +6.5

Clippers +2

I think 95% of the coaches in football are not very bright. They showed numbers on ECU's offense this year and yes they are very good. Tons of yards, pts, passing yds. I'd like to ask their offensive coordinator if he knows anything about their defense. Chances are he doesn't, he is focused on offense and scoring pts, having good stats, etc. But, if you want to win and you know your defense is atrocious don't you stop running hurry up and snapping the ball with 20-25 seconds on the play clock? Don't you run the ball a little more to not only shorten the game but to give your defense more rest? If you do your best to shorten the game you are probably giving your opponent 1-2 possessions less of the ball per game. Over the course of the year that is a lot and will help out greatly.

As I type this a 52 point 2h pushed un 71 and loses on un 66. Great.

Still steamin. Illini -2.5.
Someone explain to me why this happened? Late big sharp bet? Some news we don't know about? Public just got on late?Damn, wish I would have waited for Baylor.
I don't think it's news. I was trying to figure this out myself. I think it was sharp money but it's very skeptical. Reason being is that sometimes you see late movement at square books (bodog, sia) but the sharp books (pinny, greek, 5dimes) don't move. This would be a square move. But on this game every book was moving at the same time. At kickoff, the best line on Illinois (the side that was moving) was at 5dimes and greek. That tells me it was some sort of a sharp move. Pure skeptical. It did keep me off of Baylor though - I did bet some under 66.5 -110 though.

Thank you!

Bender - I have been doing the .5's the past few days for you. And I think I figured out why I probably do the '. It's because in soccer when you are writing who scored you are taught to write "goal scorer 30'" That means they scored in the 30th minute. I've always done it and it is a little faster, but I'll put the .5 in for you jerkoffs. (I mean that in a good way).

Not sure, but it wasn't all late. Went to a pick EARLY in the morning and you could kinda tell this was gonna happen. A few hours later it's at 1, and so on. I came very close to taking Illinois because of it, but I didn't. I don't know what it was but you'd have to think news surrounding one of the teams came out starting last night, right?I'm happy I ended up with 2 1/2 but it's an awkward feeling when you know people with A LOT more knowledge than you are on the other side, haha.Anyway, LET'S DO THIS!

No big deal bro. Just seemed pretentious is all. I'm a little wasted tonight. Not betting anything so just trolling around the thread and keeping an eye on all my nephews, brothers, cousins et. al.GL

You guys watch these bowl games for betting purposes? This is blasphemy in here and I might get disowned, but I can't stand watching absolutely worthless games. They are important to each school, and I'll bet one if I see an angle, but really get mad that ESPN is dominated by essentially exhibitions for 2 weeks every year.

The National Championship I'll be glued to, and I actually LIKE the BCS because it makes each weekly game going all the way back to September mean something more. The regular season is like a 3 month playoff for many teams - the top 20-30 teams always have something to play for in the regular season.

I'll get flamed to hell for this, but it's my 2 cents. I also enjoy College Hoops more than almost every other sport and you could argue those early season games are pretty worthless as well

Couldn't agree more as I brought up this point the other day during the Florida Atlantic game. Generally I don't even watch the game even if I have money on it. And at worst, I'll watch it without sound while I'm betting other games.

I'd rather watch Maryland/ECU than the Eagles and Vikings or Texans and Broncos.

Plus I only bet hockey and college football so I guess that plays a role. I still would watch most of these games anyway, I love CFB.

How do you come into your first bowl game in a few generations and not be ready to play? Baylor looks terrible.

Yeah they do. Griffin has had several guys open deep and has missed them all and they can't hang onto the ball. Illinois defense is terrible, this is embarrassing.

Is this the place I say I was way wrong on this game?
It's good that you owned up, but what choice did you have? You faded everyone in the thread just for the sake of fading everyone in the thread. You gave no reason why you liked ECU. Instead, in typical cocky MP fashion....

So we are betting Maryland because they will have more fans and will be "trying harder?"No thanks. Dog, under, and ml for me.
I really hate when you try to be the smartest guy in the room, and when you do this I root against you as if my kidney depends on it.

That's fine Raider. I generally play the opposite on a lot of things posted here anyway especially on things I don't really cap. When people say things I tend to not believe them and try to make a case the other way.

And I think I am the smartest guy in the room. When it comes to gambling I think you have to be overconfident, bordering on cocky. Call me an ####### if you may.

If I could get friggin money into sportsbook, I'd love to get back on the GR mailing list but man, over night they basically stopped accepting my Visa.

The smartest man in the room is a guy that doesnt post as much anymore but when he does and for those few that are lucky to take his props advice he is the Dali Lama :lmao: .

:Raises glass to you:

GR clearly a lot better on props then me. Not even close, not sure what the guy does crunching numbers but I am an absolute believer.

I have a lot of good outs and a lot of time on my hands - that's how I make money.

Very rarely will I take a gamble like I did on Vick's rushing yds last night, but unlike in years past I am willing to take some big gambles from time to time.

He's a god at exploiting SB's props. Really is. The MLB run and late CFB and CBB runs of last year were just out of control. never made more money gambling in my life. Worth every penny consider he is exponentially cheaper than most other touts and exponentially more effective.

Wal-Mart, $10 flat fee. Takes five minutes.
explain this to me like I put money on Baylor.
LOL... left out the most important part.MONEYGRAM.$10 at WM.
LOL. thought I was just too drunk to understand your post correctly.I'm on it tomorrow.Headed to A.C. tomorrow as well for the holiday weekend. Should be a blast
