FFOC $1,000,000 (1 Viewer)

Just did my first draft today from the 9th spot. Wasn't sure how the flex thing would throw off the Qb's. They didn't go as fast as I thought but fast enough. Had to grab Hassy in the 6th.

QB- Hasselbeck, Delhomme, T. Jackson

RB- Gore, R. Grant, Forte, J. Stewart, C. Johnson, R. Williams

WR- Owens, B. Marshall, Harrison, Burleson, Gaffney, Hardy

TE- Cooley, Shef

K - Lindell

DST- Colts and Bills

So if you had the 16th best team in the FFOC out of 20,000 teams, you would only win $250 or profit $125? You had a better team than 19,983 out of 20,000 other teams, and only doubled your money?

Shouldn't matter if you're shooting for top five. I'd rather look at that prize money :lmao:

Well, the lottery is fun, too, just like this. Some people are into that.

Has anyone signed up for the Thurs night (jul 31st) draft at 10pm?
I am seriously considering getting one more team in the July bracket...
OK I went ahead and did this one... 3 spots left! Tomorrow night at 10PM.. come on FBGs
This is my league with draft ordersThe random-generated draft order for your league is:

1. Brooklyns Finest :loco:

2. Monglero1

3. Brock Middlebrook

4. M & M

5. SWINE

6. Clinton Khan

7. pirates85

8. buzz

9. Dragons Milk3

10. Gearhart Jellyfish

Anybody from the board in this league?
brock middlebrook is here, but prolly in the ffa

Anybody hear about the draft where the dude took almost all Saints, LSU or Louisiana-born players?

Started with Addai (not horrible at No. 4 overall), then went Shockey in the second round, kicker Prater in the third round, Vince Young in the fourth . . . Early Doucet in the seventh.

Also in this draft, everyone went almost too QB crazy (even for FFOC standards). Adrian Peterson (the good one) didn't get picked until No. 7 overall.

One of the craziest money drafts I've ever seen.

even in some of the live contests for big money you have idiots who make stupid picks.

i can still remember the league where peyton and daunte went first and second overall.

it happens regardless

however doesn't concern me because they still gotta play the game.

i know there have been some questions about the validity of this thing but wanted to get dd's thoughts on the new jerry rice commissioner deal.

i feel that just shows how serious they are. some say hes a figure head.

thoughts?

I still think there is too much at stake for Fanball/CDM to mess this up. plain and simple.

Jerry Rice on Jim Rome pimping this contest....I would think it is pretty legit.

Wow, great non-biased response.

Based on this in the scoring system rules, I don't think that is the case:"Each week the teams that do not make the cut line move to the 1st & Goal Bracket and join the competition for that bracket's prizes."As I understand it, at the start of Week 16, there will only 15 teams left in the Las Vegas bracket. So, if you were team #16 heading into week 16, you get dropped down into the 1st & Goal Bracket, if you win that after week 16 you get 10K (same prize as 10th in Las Vegas Bracket). I think this is flaw in their system but the way I read it, Team #16 will win 10K and make more than teams finishing 11th-15th.Now, when you get dropped to the 1st & Goal bracket, you may not be leading that bracket depending on how other teams in that bracket have done in the playoffs but technically the team that finished 16th in the playoffs is looking at 10K and getting paid more than #11-15.I might "misunderstand" this but that was my take on it.

how many leagues do you think this thing will get? will it fill?
It looks like there are about 140 drafted leagues which comes out to about 1400 teams. Say 1500 maybe if they are closer to 150 total leagues. It seems they need 14000 + teams to make this thing happen. I am somewhat doubtful that they will get the other 90% in less than one month. I hope they do because I am in for a few teams and want to play out the season but we will see.

One thing making me think they may still not go through with this is that I signed up for 3 teams last week, 2 drafts before 8/28 and one after 9/1. So far, one league has filled and I have a draft set for but as of right now they haven't charged my credit card for the purchase. I guess that is a good thing if it gets cancelled I don't have to go through the hassle of a refund but wondering if they are wavering on this going through.I hope it happens.

Can you argue that Brady should go #1 w/ a flex position that allows QBs....he's consensus projected to outscore LT2, and obviously we've seen his upside...?

RB - Regggie Bush, Rudi Johnson, Lendale White, DeANgelo WIliams, Ricky Williams, Kenny Watson

The quick answer is you need to take another look at RB.

thanks for the comment, but i'm happy to start Bush and 1 of Rudi/Lendale/DeAngelo/Ricky every single week as i'll be starting 2 QBs every week.

I think this is a good team. I don't know how you got Calvin Johnson in the 6th round, that's pretty amazing.

Here is what I just ended up with from the 10th hole...don't like it much. I was hungover. I usually play in PPR and go very WR heavy and never take a QB early. This format is difficult for me to wrap my head around.

QB Peyton Manning IND (1.10)

RB Clinton Portis WAS (2.01)

RB Jamal Lewis CLE (3.10)

WR Roddy White ATL

WR Laveranues Coles NYJ

WR Dwayne Bowe KC

TE Kellen Winslow Jr CLE

OP Ryan Grant GB (4.01)

K Neil Rackers ARZ

TDSP Dallas Cowboys DAL

Bench Matt Hasselbeck SEA

Bench Bernard Berrian MIN

Bench Vernon Davis SF

Bench Brandon Jackson GB

I'd like it more if it were a PPR league but its still a good squad. I really like Brees this year but still haven't gotten him on a team.

This is my team out of the 7th spot.I plan on starting two QBs. The 13 ranked qb outscored all but 3 rbs and 1 wr last season so I think starting a 2nd qb at least gives you an advantage at the flex position

Round 1 : RB Marion Barber

Round 2 : RB Larry Johnson .

Round 3 : QB Ben Roethlisberger

Round 4 : QB Eli Manning

Round 5 : WR Wes Welker

Round 6 : RB Willie Parker

Round 7 : TE Jeremy Shockey

Round 8 : WR Roy Williams

Round 9 : WR Hines Ward

Round 10 : WR Chris Chambers

Round 11 : WR Laveranues Coles

Round 12 : RB DeAngelo Williams

Round 13 : QB Jon Kitna

Round 14 : TE Owen Daniels

Round 15 : TDSP Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Round 16 : K Adam Vinatieri

Round 17 : K Neil Rackers

Round 18 : WR Vincent Jackson

Round 19 : RB Kolby Smith

Round 20 : TDSP Carolina Panthers

Here's my team from the 8-spot.

Round 1: Frank Gore

Round 2: Clinton Portis

Round 3: Andre Johnson

Round 4: Donovan McNabb

Round 5: Steve Smith

Round 6: Roy Williams

Round 7: Chris Cooley

Round 8: Jonathan Stewart

Round 9: Kevin Curtis

Round 10: Bobby Engram

Round 11: Ahman Green

Round 12: Chester Taylor

Round 13: Tony Scheffler

Round 14: Jeff Garcia

Round 15: Green Bay Packers

Round 16: Sidney Rice

Round 17: JaMarcus Russell

Round 18: DeShaun Foster

Round 19: Carolina Panthers

Round 20: Mason Crosby

Thoughts? The one concern I have is at QB, where an injured McNabb could doom my team.

I tried that in the very first draft. Here is what it looks like (went Brady, Fitz, Owens to start):Brady, DelhommeBush, Parker, K.Smith, Mendenhall, C.Johnson, S.MorrisFitzgerald, Owens, S.Holmes, Porter, Meachem, HesterScheffler, M.LewisGostkowski, LongwellMinnesota, JaxWasn't real excited after the draft, but typing it out makes me realize it's not as bad as I inititally thought.I have the #1 again in my 2nd of 3 drafts this Sunday night. Figuring to go LT in that one.

Good sign I guess?

What the heck. I think I'll use part of the money I would have spent on AFFL to buy a couple teams in this.
Ditto...I'm going all in with my Turfwar money!
:goodposting:I never got my $1000 from those schysters.
Is that the one from last year, where the guy came into a thread to give some explanations and then disappeared? I feel for you guys. That's just not right. I'm leery about any guarantees on the Internet.

That was a WCOFF draft! I was in it.I have drafted a few FFOC teams so far and have reviewed them. This is my favorite: And YES a QB is the better Flex Play IMODelhomme, Campbell, Vince YoungSteven Jackson, Larry Johnson,Matt Forte,Ahmad Bradshaw, Antonio Pittman, Tatum bellLarry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin,Lee Evans, Lav. Coles, Jerricho Cotchery, Ronald CurryA.Gates, T.SchefflerSo far it's been a good draft experience.

League 165Fifth pick this Saturday.Real Men of Football - It's almost time to Rock and Roll
Hey, I'm in your league  Watch out for "The Brain"! I'm looking forward to drafting at the turn, I have #2 and #3 in my other two drafts.
Stugnut, it will be good to play against a fellow Footballguy. I would almost rather have the turn, than draft in slots 5-7, I think those picks are a crap shoot.Good luck and remember 2nd place and you get your money back. :)

Just finished up a draft, coming out of the 6th spot. My brother in law and I shared this team, figuring it would be fun to go through the draft and take a shot at the big prize together. Our goal heading in was to grab two of the top QBs, starting one at the flex, but also wanting to avoid Romo if possible because of his week 10 bye (go for the big money or go home in a league like this). Anyway, that's exactly what we did, hoping that the extra points from the QBs would make up for not taking RBs early. Here's how our roster turned out.

QB: Peyton Manning (1), Drew Brees (2), Trent Edwards (19)

RB: Maurice Jones-Drew (3), Reggie Bush (6), LenDale White (7), Rashard Mendenhall (9), Justin Fargas (13), Leon Washington (16)

WR: Calvin Johnson (4), Roddy White (5), Dwayne Bowe (8), Hines Ward (10), Isaac Bruce (12), Donte Stallworth (14)

TE: Owen Daniels (11), Ben Watson (15)

K: Josh Brown (19)

DEF: Pittsburgh (18), Philadelphia (20)

Obviously the hope is that Manning + Brees could potentially give us 2 of the top 5-7 scorers in the league, and a great pair to send out in the hopeful week 10 game. MJD/Bush would be a great combo in a PPR league, but it's going to be weak here compared to the RB stable others have -- although their total yardage could end up being sufficient. I'm a fan of the WR core, thinking Bowe, Ward and Stallworth were good value.

Thoughts?

I like the squad, I used a similar strategy. I think MJD and Reggie will be fine, this is Reggies year. Only question is at receiver, but you never know.. obviously Atlanta and KC should be playing from behind so hopefully a lot of throwing. I have 3 teams, the first I did my traditional RB/RB pick and really like it but with my second squad I decided to try the QB/QB strat from the #3 spot since I knew I could snatch Brady. Here it is:QB: Tom Brady, Drew Brees | Jason Campbell

RB: Michael Turner, Earnest Graham | Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams, DeAngelo Williams, Maurice Morris

WR: Braylon Edwards, Wes Welker, Chris Chambers | Reggie Brown, Robert Meachem, Derek Hagan

TE: Owen Daniels | Ben Watson

PK: Mason Crosby

DT: Buffalo Bills | Arizona Cardinals

It was really, really hard to pass up Peterson at #3 (2 guy took Westy) but I had to stick to my guns and get Brady.. and when Brees fell to me I knew it was the right decision. Probably the first time I actually picked a team without letting my personal feelings about a player get in the way. (Huge Peterson fan, absolutely loathe the Patriots) What helped me is that subconsciously I believe since I passed up All Day he will have a historic season and Brady will crumble. Sorry Pats fans.

I'm surprised you were able to get Brees at 18 after seeing him go pretty early in a lot of responses posted here. Great value obviously. We were hoping to get a shot at him over Romo. Interestingly, the team drafting 7th in our league went with MBIII in the 1st, Romo in the 2nd, and is also starting E. Graham and S. Moss. Hope to be matched up against him in the championship game.

Drafted 01.01

... DD says best team but I dunno about depth. How did I end up with LT Braylon and Andre? Geez!?

KoolAid, Watermelon & Chicken

Round 1: LaDainian Tomlinson

Round 2: Braylon Edwards

Round 3: Andre Johnson

Round 4: Jason Witten

Round 5: Plaxico Burress

Round 6: Earnest Graham

Round 7: Edgerrin James

Round 8: Matt Schaub

Round 9: Donald Driver

Round 10: Chris Johnson

Round 11: Aaron Rodgers

Round 12: Jon Kitna

Round 13: Todd Heap

Round 14: Justin Fargas

Round 15: Ahman Green

Round 16: Philadelphia Eagles

Round 17: Devin Hester

Round 18: David Akers

Round 19: Houston Texans

Round 20: Mark Clayton

Does anyone know how the transaction for this service shows up on your CC or bank statement? I'm assuming it is this one that says "poised to stomp" on mine as the $ amount matches up and it is the only transaction in the past few months that is = to what I paid. Still, it seems it took this transaction an awful long time to go through and that is an odd description that kind of caught me off guard.

Had the 3rd spot last night and also went QB/QB. Here's how it ended up:QB- Tom Brady/Carson Palmer/Jamarcus Russell

WR- Housh/Santonio Holmes/Anquan Boldin/Bernard Berrian/Bryant Johnson/Mark Clayton

TE- Dallas Clark/Zach Miller

PK- Neil Rackers

DT- Pitt/Wash

League 250 was drafting tonight. I would say they will easily get 1000 leagues by the start. With that many leagues I believe this is def. going to happen.

my 2 cents.
