FFPC dynasty and redraft leagues thread (1 Viewer)

Ps. Once FFPC deals with their orphans and reopen start ups, I’m likely to come back here and gauge interest in a $100 superflex or triflex league. Need to mix it up with a new dynasty format this year

Are rosters tighter in the SF/Triflex leagues? I'm in 5 actual leagues with FFPC(I do some private leagues with mainly FFPC rules) and not much exciting was cut. Out of that list the only one cut was Gesicki and that was just once.

In a FFPC standard league I'd probably draft Moore in the high second.

One thing I like to look was if I ended up being the only person to cut a player. I owned James Robinson in 4 out of those 5 leagues and cut him in all 4 so he's one I expected to be the only person cutting and that was correct as someone held him in one league I did not own him. Spiller, Fournette, Jeff Wilson and Hunt are all players I only own once and am only person to cut them. I thought I was going to be the only guy to cut Likely but @NE_REVIVAL joined my club.

Yes, rosters are considerably tighter in the superflex formats because of the QBs that get kept. It's annoying that superflex rosters are still expected to stick to the "cut to 16 spots" rule, but I guess it keeps teams from becoming too dominant. (In one superflex league, I had Gesicki, Fant, Knox and Jelani Woods and needed to cut two, and I sat there for 15 minutes trying to decide. Fant and Woods got cut. In another, I agonized over whether to keep CEH or Zeke. I kept Zeke just because maybe he gets a bump when he finally signs, and I can get a decent pick for him.)

I cut James Robinson in a 1 QB league and a superflex. I kept Jeff Wilson over CEH. I kept Hunt.

An interesting one in superflex is Zach Wilson. In my seven superflex leagues, he was kept in only one, but I was the one who dropped him in three of those leagues. That one hurts.

Skyy Moore
Gesicki
Schultz
Elijah Moore*
Doubs
Kmet
Lockett
Alec Pierce

Yes they're tighter because people are carrying 2-4 QBs through cuts but it is still just 14 skill players plus K&D. James Robinson and Likely was cut in a lot of places (including by me). CEH also on the list though I managed to keep him in mine.

Yeah Z Wilson was dropped everywhere. Michael Thomas is another one to pour one out for. Dropped in lots of spots.

Had a weird situation with cuts last night. I had trimmed to 16 but had an offer out to trade a pick for Gainwell. Midnight came and went and the other owner hadn’t responded so I assumed that was that.

Woke up this morning and the trade was accepted around 1:45 am and processed. Then Parris Campbell was auto-cut from my roster (which is who I would have cut).

No one has complained but seems like the deal should not have happened according to the rules. My team just finished a 3 year rebuild and I’ve been consolidating big time over that time and scooping good deals at deadline. The other team has been a super team and had some tough cuts to make so it helped both of us, but if I’m one of the other two contenders in this league I’d not be happy about it.

huh is this an east coast vs west coast time zone thing? I had pending offers that disappeared (thankfully because I forgot to go back and clear them myself) but the deadline was midnight Pacific time so that's why I ask because if it was before 3am ET then it is legit, no?

LOL right after I posted that it dawned on me the deadline was probably pacific time and sure enough…Nevermind!

Yup. Makes sense. My 1 trade offer I had hanging out there was wiped away at midnight (PST) so I recreated it this morning (an offer to a team that hasn’t logged into the site since march 18th :eyeroll: )

You know, the "login timestamp" is not always consistent. Some if not most of those owners that are shown as not having logged in for a long time are actually deadbeats but some are using the app and it doesn't record it. There were owners the other day that made their cuts and had managed their team throughout the season but it shows their last timestamp as sometime in October. So, tough to gauge.

Yes, and on my laptop, the FFPC tab is always open, and I use the drop-down menu at the top to switch between leagues. I'm sure the login thing may not register me for weeks.

Just noticed Rashaad Penny was dropped in one of my Triflex leagues -- by a new owner, on Feb. 26. I'll never understand why these guys are in such a hurry to drop players more than a month before the deadline when there's absolutely no upside in doing so.

I was wondering about that also. Didn’t know there was an app. Been playing FFPC for 5 years and still don’t know how some things work apparently lol.

Oh, anybody know when division realignment happens? I forget.

You should download the app. It gives you alerts for when you're on the clock in a draft or you get a trade offer (although it's also kind of redundant if you get email alerts anyway). I will say that one minor way in which the app is more useful than email is that if someone rejects a trade, the app alert will tell you if "Team A has rejected your offer" or "Team A has countered your offer" -- granted, sometimes there's no counteroffer, but I like to know if they at least clicked the "counter" button on the trade. (Man, we are really getting in the weeds here.)

I thought realignment happened when they rolled the leagues over to 2023 in February, but maybe I'm mistaken.

Late July last year I moved Moore, Allgeier, Edmonds and Brevin Jordan for Chubb and Goedert. And now EMoore is back in the pool (auto cut per ADP by FFPC).
I had to circle back to this just to see which players the computer decided to keep over E Moore for this franchise.

Jakobi Meyers and Brock Purdy (it is SuperFlex) are the only ones that come to mind as debatable. This roster is actually quite loaded. Jakobi v Moore might be an interesting debate. Knee jerk reaction is give me Moore by a mile but maybe closer than initially thought. Purdy's value is all over the board from league to league. It's hard to keep WRs in this format. They have Chase, Godwin, Kirk, McLaurin, Aiyuk and went Jakobi over Moore. eh? IDK

That said…this is one of the 2 teams in that league that didn’t make their cuts in time so FFPC auto-cut their players so I’d guess the time stamp is accurate.

I think it happens after the rookie draft concludes.

Preach! I say the same thing every year. I long ago termed this my Paul Masson theory of fantasy management. I will cut no player before it's time. (I'm sure many of you have no idea what I'm talking about, lol)

I had picked up Gronk in a bunch of leagues on the last waiver run or two and was determined to hold him until the last possible date just in case. That's how I roll.

Some of you may or may not remember or where not playing at the time but back in first few years of FFPC we actually had to do cuts by February 28th. Before FA. That's wild to even think about now but this is how Coby Fleener ended up being a first round draft pick about 5 years after he basically busted as a first round draft pick.

Thanks man. I downloaded it just now. Not crazy about the format but if it sends trade alerts to my phone it’s totally worth having.

Yeah, their app kinda stinks. I usually just use my phone’s web browser instead. ymmv

Same, I barely use the app at all. I do everything on phone browser. However, I prefer the app for making picks in slow drafts. It's easier.

I only play redraft for FFPC, but after reading the thread I thought I would look at some dynasty teams and now my eyes hurt.

The formatting to scroll through teams and check prices and rosters is painful. The price of these teams is absurd. The last team I looked at had Aaron Rodgers , Cam Akers, Jerry Jeudy, and Higbee as the best players at each position with 0 picks this year. They still want half price for that team for year 1. I wouldn't take that team for anything less than 3 free years.

Agreed. I scroll thru the orphan list from time to time in case anything jumps out at me (I am NOT in the market to buy someone else‘s team but think what the heck when I’m bored) and I get exhausted from the giant list after about 3 minutes of scrolling.
the thing I did last time I looked was to scan quickly down the list only looking for a team that had a top 3 rookie pick this year and then I’d look at the roster. It was a way to at least filter out 80% of the orphan teams…but I still only lasted for 3 or 4 minutes.

that’s what she said.

keep in mind there is often a big difference between what teams are listed at and what they actually sell for.

True and forgive me if I am wrong, but haven't they delayed drafts, cut down days, and new leagues because of so many orphans?

If that is true then these teams should be severely discounted and a lot of the teams I have seen look like initial offers.

I know 100% there are no delayed cuts. All dynasty teams have been cutdown ontime. As always. They decided to sunset the $77 leagues and just introduced a new $100 dynasty format with startups running right now (I'm in one that kicks off Tuesday and trades are already rolling- TriFlex). I don't really know what happened to all the $77 orphans but there were discounts everywhere, but as alluded to some really bad teams. There are still a *lot* of $250 teams, which they have delayed doing new startups for because they say they want to move all the orphans first. I think that adds up.

I also think everybody throws the word "orphan" around pretty loosely. As such I'm not clear which teams really are truly orphans (where an owner has abandoned and not paid) and which ones are paid but the owner wants to sell at a discount. Those kind still get labeled "orphans" but they're not. They're just "for sale." I would only be guessing, but for the ones that are truly abandoned and not paid, FFPC uses their deposit, gives the team(s) away for whatever peanuts they might get and otherwise takes a loss on the (small) difference. That's me speculating but I doubt they'd say it out loud.

um. I’m sitting right here ;)
You said you were waiting for the orphans to sell first.
yeah. just messing.
I probably want to wait til right after the NFL draft and then I'll ping here to gather interest for a $100 triflex or superflex startup.

I'm just a little jealous....but not jealous enough to add another league with randoms.
I'd rather have another league with SharkPool folks who "know each other". More to come...

ps. post your results :)

Yeah there are more filling right now - I agree I'd like to get us SharkPool folks into one. So I guess that's 2 now. And after the NFL draft is fine.

Here's a fun one for my FFPC friends to wrap their heads around.

During the startup a team was collecting 1sts and made this trade:

Startup picks 5.05, 5.09, 7.05, 10.02, and 11.11

For.

Kyle Pitts and picks rounds 17-20
I'd call that something like three 1sts and a 2nd for Pitts and those late picks. Seems fair. I know there are some big names in the 5th round but in a vacuum at first glance I'd say Pitts side.
Seeing the result after 1 year I would say this trade ended up being a disaster for the team getting Pitts because that was me.
First off the 5.05 would have been Garrett Wilson and Wilson right now is being valued over Pitts straight up in redraft not sure about dynasty yet but I got to believe it to be true there too.
I would have taken Ridley and Watson with the 2 later picks Ridley value pretty high for redraft would been a nice useable piece right away.
Was targeting Watson and Ridley the entire draft until this trade derailed it as I had no picks until round 16 and Ridley went 15.
This doesn't even count who I would got at 5.09 and 7.05.

End result huge mistake trade and set the team back probably 3 years.

Also in the FFPC you play for your draft pick I ended up wining the 1.02 I lost week 17 by 10 pts. I couldn't play Pitts he was injured. Had I had Wilson plus the other players from 5.09 and 7.05 it is very likely I would won the 1.01 pick so add that into the end result got 1.02 instead of 1.01 and it makes it 100x times worse even.

Sorry to hear it. Yeah I think Pitts and G Wilson are probably about neck and neck in FFPC startups right now. I'm actually in a TriFlex startup in the 2nd round as we speak and both are on the board and I expect they both come off shortly and also before I am OTC at 2.09. Unless people reach for more QBs, and if Pitts, in particular, is on the board for me I will probably be "forced" to take him.

But yeah on the G Wilson front I took him and Olave last year in an FFPC TriFlex startup in like April or whatever it was and then thought I was being sneaky smart when I "consolidated" the two of them for Deebo. I came out of that startup very, very strong but also deep and with roster cuts for September I made that move. I guess I don't hate it for Deebo but sure wish I had Wilson and Olave still.

FYI I took Wilson at 5.11, Olave at 7.06 and Pitts had come off at 1.10. Deebo had been 2.12.

a new $100 dynasty format with startups running right now (I'm in one that kicks off Tuesday and trades are already rolling- TriFlex).

1.01 Mahomes
1.02 Josh Allen
1.03 Hurts
1.04 Burrow
1.05 Herbert
1.06 Jefferson
1.07 Lawrence
1.08 Chase
1.09 Fields
1.10 Lamar
1.11 CMC
1.12 Bijan
2.01 AJBrown
2.02 OTC

I drew the 4 spot and traded back and haven't picked yet. I went 1.04+6.04 for 2.10+3.03+2024 1st (that belongs to an owner that went Hurts/Burrow so we'll see how the rest of their build goes)

I'll be interested in seeing what QB's you end up with. I kind of like what the other guy did. Starting a SF dynasty team with two young stud QB's is really appealing.

I did 2 startups last year where I tried to acquire as many 2023 1st as possible as it was supposed to be a great class (doesn't look as good as it was hyped up to be).

In 1 league it worked out ok. I got 1,2,4,7,9,12,14, 19, 23 for my top 2 rounds. I also own Jefferson in this one.
The other as I mentioned above turned out terrible. 2,5,9,10,11,12,14 for my top 2 rounds.

I don't think this will work out as well as planned I really need to hit on the later picks.

I'm not a fan of the FFPC roster minimums (as in must have one QB, 2RBs.........)from the cut date to the start of the season.
It really, really inhibits trade opportunities.
Once the cuts happens you should be able to do anything you want with your roster between now and week 1.

I have an offer for my QB I want to take but can't, because I wouldn't have a QB on my roster, which isn't allowed. Very silly to not allow that after cuts.

Ps. Once FFPC deals with their orphans and reopen start ups, I’m likely to come back here and gauge interest in a $100 superflex or triflex league. Need to mix it up with a new dynasty format this year
70% payout. Yeesh
Yeah, if there were a safe/easy way to handle the money, i might consider making an FFPC-like say, Sleeper, and then there would be no rake. But I’m a) not in the mood to commish another league and b) I’ve never used something like leaguesafe and I’m in an “old dog, new tricks” mood at this point, so I guess I’m willing to pay for the convenience of someone else (FFPC) handling all that for me, even though there’s obviously a pretty big cost associated.

You gotta win a title once every 4 years to break even, lol

Leaguesafe is as legit and simple as it gets. I ran an FFPC style dynasty league on MFL for a few years using leaguesafe and would probably do it again if it were a sharkpool group. I'm not crazy about Sleeper but could give it a run. We had over $21,000 in escrow for several years in Leaguesafe because we had a jackpot prize pool but if we did just a simple year to year league it couldn't be simpler.

Yeah I'm interested in seeing what QBs I end up with as well. I made my bed when I moved back though.

The partner whose 1st I got moved up again and took Taylor. So Hurts/Burrow/Taylor with 6.09 as their next pick (we're at 2.06 now) only 5th-7th round picks next year. These are deep enough drafts I could see them rounding this roster out but they're going to be chasing from here on out.

Hypothetical for my FFPC brothers. Standard.
Two sides of the coin.
Side 1: Justin Jefferson.
Side 2: Derrick Henry, Ekeler, Stefan Diggs, and Michael Pittman

If you have Jefferson but can't compete, would you trade Jefferson for this?

If you had the other guys and were maybe the 4th or 5th best team and can compete for the next year, two at most, would you deal them for Jefferson?

I hate the move up to get Taylor. I would never do that for any RB in a start up.

I don't get this. If you can't compete why would you be trading for a bunch of old guys?

I can't see any scenario where I would trade JJ for this package.

I agree it seems silly, but can you just shoot a 4th or 5th to someone for their backup scrub QB?

So FFPC standard.
Where would you draft Elijah Moore in the rookie/FA draft?
Late 2nd??

I have Moore in 1 QB and just turned down the 2.08 for him. I'd spend an early 2nd on him, but I've always been a fan.
Pretty much what you are saying.

I've already made several offers in various leagues giving up later seconds and just met turn downs.

I have not offered some earlier seconds because I think odds are if it would get accepted now it will get accepted later so I'm refraining to maintain some flexibility but sort of mentally putting in my backpocket that's an offer I might be making with those picks as well as possibly some offers involving late 1's, where I'd expect Moore plus.

If I was ranking out Moore right now vs rookie WR's he'd be in the 3-5 range, that will get firmed up post draft and even going as high as 2 is not out of the question.
