First Presidential Debate (1 Viewer)

I wonder if the Trump haters will say he got crushed and the supporters will say he kicked her ###....

Trump definitely has the inside track here.

Anytime that Hillary attempts to dazzle everyone by rattling off names from foreign counties, Trump needs only to remind the audience that he is not a politician.  That is his wheelhouse.  He is not part of the problem.  He has not memorized the names of past donors to the Clinton Foundation and guarantee that he will know these names as needed.  Also, when Hillary rattles off names of foreign dignitaries,  Trump need only remind the audience that names of people outside of American borders are #2 to those names that fall within the borders...legally.

She cannot talk about her past, at all.  All he has to do is deflect back to Hillary.

Trump should counter by having Monica Lewinsky in the the front row.
If she's unavailable, perhaps Juanita Broaddrick, Dolly Kyle, Paula Jones, Kathleen Wiley, Gennifer Flowers, etc. Maybe all of them, would you put it past him? Maybe put them on a rotation for the 3 sparring contests he'll have with Bill's wife.

I can only speak for myself but if I think Trump wins I'll let you know.
The only ways trump wins in your eyes is if she drops dead and is wheeled away.  Then the most you'd give him is a draw.

No wonder he doesn't want to show up for the debate - he could get the same effect by leaving up MAGA hat up on the podium.

My thoughts on the debate is the platform favors Trump.

Clinton message needs to pivot left to try and bring in the Sanders supporters and the undecided. However, she does this at her own peril because she goes too far left, all the RHINOs that are "supposedly" voting for her, may revolt.

Clinton can be unglued and Trump is just the guy to do that. This will be a boxing match with Clinton jabbing-hoping to score points and Trump throwing haymakers just hoping for memorable sound bites that will be repeated in the media.

The other thing Clinton has a problem with is (and this has been brought up before) she can be shrill and b@@@@@y. She tends to, when she wants for the crowd to get her point, do that crazy half smile, wide eyed look, nodding her head with that "Am I right? Am I right?" look. It's really a turnoff.

Bottom line the media has probably already prepared the Clinton wins graphics, but I feel Clinton can only hurt herself here. I am voting for Trump, but I will freely admit she is more politically intelligent than him, but when debating an unpredictable foe like this, that could be a liability.

It should be fun!!

The big wildcard is if Clinton tries to goad Trump into something stupid.  Think she tries to say he is not rich and gives nothing to charity which is why he isn't releasing his returns and see if he flies off the handle.  Think he has to be more presidential then he was in the republican debates.

Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman asked the Commission on Presidential Debates to give the Democratic presidential nominee a step stool on stage Monday so she could avoid looking dramatically shorter than Republican rival Donald Trump, according to a new report.

The Clinton camp didn't get its wish, but Hillary will have a 'custom-made podium, which will accommodate the difference in stature,' according to a breaking news alert The Drudge Report published Friday morning.

Clinton is 5-feet, 4-inches tall, according to famed news aggregator Matt Drudge. Trump towers 10 inches above her at 6'2", he adds.

When she meets the Republican nominee Monday night at Hofstra University, Clinton will be stuck on stage if she is unsteady on her feet or lapses into a prolonged coughing fit.

Drudge didn't name names, but quoted a 'commission source' saying: 'There are no commercial breaks. Period.'

In addition, debate moderator Lester Holt, who anchors NBC Nightly News, will not have the power to instruct cameramen to 'cut away' from the stage if Clinton finds herself physically compromised during the 90-minute debate, the first of three showdowns before the November 8 election.

'And microphone audio for either of the candidates is not to be manipulated,' Drudge reported.

Clinton's health has been the subject of intense speculation since she collapsed during a 9/11 memorial service two weekends ago and had to be physically lifted into her armored van.

She has experienced a series of lengthy coughing episodes on the campaign trail, including one on Labor Day that lasted 4 minutes.

Trump has subtly made an issue of it, repeatedly saying in campaign rallies that Clinton lacks the 'stamina' to be president.

Thursday in suburban Philadelphia he noted that Clinton had taken the day off.

"Where is Hillary today?' he asked a screaming crowd of more than 4,000.

'Well they say she’s been practicing for the debate. Some people think she’s sleeping.'

Only thing that interests me is if they get openly contemptuous with each other. Trump saying Hillary should be in prison or calling her names, Hillary snickering as Trump fumbles an answer, etc. Other than that, the prospect of listening to these two people speak for 90 minutes is not something I'm particularly looking forward to. I'll be watching the game and following the comments on social media just in case something explosive happens.
Not gonna happen, Trump respects her.

I think Trump gets into it with the moderators.

Trump can win the debate and the election with one simple strategy at the debate.

In either his opening statement, or his closing statement, he should talk about why he ran for president, and then claim that Bill called him up, and asked him to run as a republican so he can weaken the field for Hillary.  Then, he can claim that after speaking to the people on the campaign trail, he realized that nobody was standing up for the working class people, and from that point on, he made it his mission to win the election, and make America Great again - for the working people!!!

Nobody would talk about anything else after the debate, and their is enough trustworthy issues with Clinton that a majority of people would believe Trump.  Election would be over.

That totally sounds like something Bill would have done.  I don't think he likes the fact his wife might ruin it for both of them.  Hell, he doesn't even like her anyways.  Always struck me that he regretted marrying her but is now stuck with her because of the politics.  Coming up with speeches in support of Hillary must be EXTREMELY hard and painful for him because he probably doesn't believe 90% of it himself.

Wow.  She actually demanded that? :lmao:

Then again, I suppose she can since she knows she has the media protecting her.  It's still pretty brazen, though.
You guys don't understand strategy at all.  She never expected the moderator to fact check, she just wants it getting publicized that Trump is a liar and for people who wonder during the debate if he's telling the truth.

Don't you see the irony in that?  At all?

not on purpose.  he was arguing against passages from his novel, not recognizing that it was his own words that he was fighting against
Actually he also set up an alias and had conversations with that alias.

Students getting loud in Hempstead, NY!

Why does this feel more like College Gameday and less like a presidential debate? While I want them to debate policy in all seriousness, a small part of me just wants to see Hillary get under his skin and for Trump to get flustered and fly off the handle and a screaming match cluster to ensue. Would not shock me at all if that actually happens.

Not sure already mention but watching if Hillary can withstand 90 minutes in the spot light without looking physically weak?.
