Fitzgerald (1 Viewer)

I don't really want this to come off as a WDIS thread.. But I'm really having a tough time finding a spot for Fitzgerald this weekend. It doesn't look like any WR#1 had done anything against the Eagles & Fitz hasn't been that good this year as it is. I was all set for benching him this week for lesser known WR's & then I see some rankings & Fitz is still in the top 10-15.. What are others doing with Fitz this week. This seems like the week to actually bench your so called Stud..

As always, it depends on your other options. On the plus side, one would think the Eagles would win this game with relative ease, meaning Arizona may have to throw it a ton. Although Skelton isn't very good if the Cardinals do throw it a lot that at least give Fitz a fighting chance despite the matchup. The good news last week is that even though Fitz didn't get the kind of results with Skelton he got last season he did get a Red Zone look and scored. That's at least a step in the right direction considering how Kolb rarely seems to look for Fitz inside the 20.

I'd view Fitz as a decent WR2 this week. There's always the chance he goes off because he's so good and his floor isn't very low. But the matchup isn't great and his QB isn't very good so he's not a strong start. Ultimately, he's Fitz so I think you roll with him unless you have a stacked WR corps.

Thanks - you're probably right - I'm far from stacked but it just feels like a bad week out of him.. We'll see I guess.

I'm starting him. It's almost statistically impossible for him to do worse. He's been hitting on a few passes a game. I have to believe that talent wins out eventually. If I had top tier names or matchups that clearly were better, I'd use them. But right now, you know, most probably drafted him as a WR1, and as such, don't have a of other "no-brainer" WRs. So I will start him over Earl Bennett, Pierre Garcon and Mike Williams (TB). What else can ya do?

I know fitz is a top wr,but in name only, much like Roddy White. The numbers just arent there this season. He's what, wr18 now?

I'm sure there's a dozen guys pulled of waivers that have outscored him this year. He's not worthless but when you got feeley or Kolb huckin you the ball, your game is gonna suffer. He should have went to a contender, then he could have been somebody.that whole offense smells worse than a burrito turd.

Got Julio and Brown in the lineup. So far Fitz is in there, but my other options are S Rice and Crabtree. Can't see, to bench Fitz for either.

I have to start three of these five: J Jones, TB-Mike, Nicks, Fitz and Robinson.

Jones is a no-brainer start, TB-Mike is a no-brainer sit. So if Nicks doesn't play, I don't have to think myself. If he does play, it's down to Fitz vs. Robinson.

With Fitz' season this far, a new QB and a tough match-up I'm leaning Robinson. But man, it's hard to bench your 2nd round pick for someone you picked up on the waiver 24 hours ago. But I think it's the right thing. Opinions?

Agree. That would be going too far. Rice has just as tough a match-up as Fitz, and Crabtree has to show a lot more consistency before I'd play him over someone like Fitz

He's 10th in my .5 PPR.

People draft Larry expecting the super elite numbers, but if they don't come immediately they get down on him. Like I said, he's 10th, probably just a bit lower in standard leagues. The yards and receptions are there, but the TDs have been tough to come by with the struggles of the offense.

It's difficult to sit a talented player like Larry Fitzgerald when you pretty much know he'll see 10+ targets. There's always a chance he hauls in a jump ball TD or two.

:goodposting: yeah he is WR10 in my league as well. I am starting him along with Roddy and Julio over gaffney, Tate, Ogbannaya. He should get double digit points.

Fitz is my favorite NFL player and I've not considered benching him over the last several years-- until now. With Kolb out and no real threat anywhere else on this offense, you have to start playing the matchups with Fitz. This isn't one of them.

I'm a big AZ fan and I own Fitz. I would rather have Skelton than Kolb at QB for Fitz's fantasy value. For reference, here are the targets to Fitz with Kolb and Skelton (the first four for Skelton are the last four games last year):

Fitz's targets with Kolb: 7, 9, 8, 11, 8, 10, 10, 5

Fitz's targets with Skelton: 11, 10, 3, 17, 12

You don't bench Fitzgerald.
You do for Stevie Johnson.
You do? Even with a crappier QB/team, Fitz has more targets and yards, one less TD, and is almost without question one of the top 5 WR talents. If you're talking a one week matchup based decision, that's cause for discussion, but otherwise, give me Fitz all day long.
One week decision. After Philly I plan to have Fitz locked into my lineup.

I'm actually toying with the idea of benching Fitz for Harvin. Minny is going to need to toss the ball a lot to keep up with the Pack, and a rested Harvin should be the benefactor.

Yeah but how accurate are those targets coming from Skelton? Now add Philly's secondary in the mix...

Earl Bennett found room vs Philly. sust jayin
:goodposting:
Um... Because they were more concerned with Matt Forte, as he is 90% of the Chicago Bears' offense.Listen, I'm not saying Fitzgerald is going to be shut out. But if he has more than 60 yards receiving this week, I'll be impressed.
I think it had more to do with Bennett being covered by DRC than the Eagles' defense focusing on Forte. Unfortunately, I don't think Fitzgerald will be matched up with DRC often.

Bennett beat nnamdi more than once, FWIW.

He was about a half a foot from a third TD.
No idea why they didn't review that play. It appeared that he slid into the end zone before being touched down.
It was just outside the TMW right?I looked at it a few times and it appeared his leg brushed the defender but I couldn't be sure. I think the play would have been confirmed whatever way it was called on the field. Too bad, but I can't complain

It was amazing he even caught that ball. It looked over thrown and then all of a sudden he's got it in his hands. Dude is just unreal.
