Fitzmagic! (1 Viewer)

Hot Sauce Guy

looked for a Fitzpatrick topic, couldn’t find one. My bad if this is a dup.

Been streaming QBs all year, from between Bradford, Dalton, Bortles....it’s worked out great so far.

just read that Winston might get shut down  - Fitzmagic’s numbers, albeit a small sample size; sure look fantasy-streamer-worthy.

I’m considering an add for this week for the soft matchup (even without Evans)...but not sure about beyond.

Your thoughts on Fitzmagic ROS?

Fitz, like McCown, has a pretty consistent history of putting up solid fantasy numbers on just about every team they go to.

Could be a good garbage-time play. The defense is poor, the team is quitting, and Koetter has shown he will abandon the run pretty quickly. Still, you would think he can only do so much since he's not actually any good.

Will be starting him with confidence vs. a Jets secondary possibly w/o Morris Clairborne and Buster Skrine.

ROS? His sched looks like this after this week:

11 - Nov 19, @Mia Sun 1:00 pm

12 - Nov 26, @Atl Sun 1:00 pm

13 - Dec 3, @GB Sun 1:00 pm

14 - Dec 10, Det Sun 1:00 pm

15 - Dec 18, Atl Mon 8:30 pm

16 - Dec 24, @Car Sun 1:00 pm

Not a Murderer's Row of defenses, and more importantly only Weeks 13 and 16 have overly cold/windy climates. I think he's definitely viable ROS.

EDIT: You're right, we have seen this movie before!

Except he is good. He’s been good. Even this season when replacing Winston he’s put up solid FFB numbers.

Just spiltballing here, but perhaps adding something relevant and credible to the conversation might be a good option.

Luck-y for me I'm rolling with them as my 2 QBs approaching the playoffs. Exciting time to be alive
I know the feeling - I’m sitting on a bevy of riches, with Dalton/Bortles/Fitzmagic - in 1st Place with a stacked team other than QB.

Like the old Blue Diamond Almonds commercials - “20 points a week, that’s all I ask.”

;)

Fitz is in that category of QBs that have played long enough and produced in enough different contexts so that you know what you are going to get with him.  He is a borderline starting quality QB for a bottom third NFL team.  He has had respectable fantasy seasons (mid 20s in TDs at least) at the Jets and the Bills and was okay at the Texans.  He had 31 TDs with the Jets a few years ago.  His issue is that when the game is tight and is coming down to the wire, you can pretty much count on him to turn the ball over and lose the game.  The teams move on from him because they aspire to get someone better, but even today, the Jets have not succeeded and the Texans only just now got Deshaun.  Fitz is fine as a fantasy fill in or even a starter in a super flex or two QB format.

The Texans were right to move on from Fitzpatrick and the Jets are in the same shape, and arguably a bit better off, than when they had Fitzpatrick. McCown is a bit more competent as a journeyman stop gap type but neither one are long term answers - at worst it's a "push". Even the "great" season Fitz had with the Jets was in large part smoke and mirrors - he had numerous near missed interceptions and was often bailed out by Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker who fought off defenders like not many WRs can. His second season the glass slipper was lost and he looked like one of the worst QBs in NFL history.

The pattern has been the same throughout his career. Take over from the injured starter, show flashes of brilliance over a short period of time, work the "magic" (i.e. luck), get paid handsomely, look like ### the very next season, get released. For a Harvard grad the guy makes some of the dumbest throws you've ever seen and has one of the weakest arms in the league.

With all of that said, I added him in redraft and my one dynasty where I had Winston because the all options were bleak. I can see a 4 TD performance this week or a 4 interception performance just as easily. There's a reason he's played for ten different teams.

Is this really a surprise?

Fitzmagic was turning to Fitztragic sooner or later.

It was only a matter of time.

honestly this outcome was just an excuse for Koetter IMO. Bears fan here, watched the game, Fitzpatrick didn't really play too bad at all. Being harassed all game and had some bad drops by receivers

I like the idea that someone brought up in another thread - send him to San Fran!

Although to be fair, Beat Hard didn’t look all that bad.

It's funny how we all knew it was coming! Why can't he learn to thrive in a winning atmosphere? He seems to self destruct right after he shows what he is capable of doing. Too many SMART thoughts while playing? WTF?

This is about right.  If the Bucs D didn't transform Trubisky into Sid Luckman and the halftime score is even 17-3, Fitz's mediocre performance doesn't seem to warrant losing his job.  Instead they are down 5 touchdowns and the whole team seemed like they quit, which is ironic because the take was that they were pulling for Fitzpatrick

I viewed this as basically a repeat of Vikings last year, except that a) Fitz's rep is much more settled than Keenum's was, and b) the Bucs have a lot more invested in Winston than the Vikes did in Bradford or Bridgewater. Still, I remember it felt like if Keenum had laid an egg in any of his starts, he could have easily gone back to the bench, he just never did. With Fitz, you knew he eventually would, and that Koetter would have a shorter hook when it happened.

This result was, as they say, overdetermined.
