thx. I'll give it a shot, but was looking for more of a note taking style...but it might work
Gotcha. Yeah I don't think there is anything that is a true real-time text to speech app ala Dragon or such. If there is I'm not aware of it.
I actually use dragon for iOS as well as dragon search. They are quite good.
Same here.
Holy #### I didn't know dragon was out for iOS. Damn it does work well too!

I downloaded SimpleMind today and really like it. It's one of those brainstorming/graphical idea keeping apps, it's free and super easy. Helping me to map out my biz plan/client development targets graphically, which I'm really liking.

Just started messing around with this...but I really like it

Because I tried it and thought the resolution was horrible. The automatic cropping was pretty cool, though.

One small thing that annoys me about TheScore (beside it crashing a lot on me lately) is that it doesn't show fouls in basketball under individual stats. Small potatoes, but kind of annoying.
On iOS if you go landscape mode it gives you a ####load more stats, including fouls. Not sure if it does the same on Android.

Never thought to try that. It does work on Android. Thanks

 Can do that on any screen including standings.

The most useful one i have discovered is called Nearest Mexican. If you ever have something you don't want to do yourself and are unwilling to pay much for it, you simply log in and enter your zip code and it will show you the nearest mexican who is willing to do it for like almost nothing.

Well just from this page I picked up Box and ifttt. Ifttt then drove me to Evernote because iOS notes doesn't work with it. All great.

I'm not sure I need Waze since that info is now integrated with google maps. Is there a reason to add it?

I downloaded Waze before the holiday based on this thread and it was mostly worthless on my trip. Heavy traffic ahead on the NJ Turnpike? No ####. But it was awesome at locating law enforcement ahead.

This is why I use it every day on my drive home.

Is there a good shared calendar app?

I saw there was a shared grocery app posted earlier in here. Is it just shared lists that you can put anything into, or is it limited to certain name brand products in a database?

1. Do you use gmail as your main email? If so, just use the stock calendar app. It integrates fine. My only complaint is that I like email reminders for appts, and if you add an appt through the phone, it doesn't do email you the reminder like it does on the web app.

2. You can use "our groceries" for any lists. I use it when i pack for a business trip....I create a "recipe" of all the things I pack...I just click teh recipe and everything pops up...I cross off as necessary. There might be a better list app out there, but this does the trick fine for me.

Yes, I use gmail and use that calender which syncs fine with my phone.

These both are sharable/syncable with say my wife's phone, ipad, or computer?

We shifted over to Google calender over Christmas break and are very happy with it. If you're on an iPhone, you can just use the native calendar manager pointed to that Google calendar.

We use Anylist, and it can have any list... I'm also impressed with some of the ways it's smart with groceries. If corn nuts aren't in the database and you create them as an item, it's smart enough to put them in snack foods.

I created a new gmail account for my family. We all subscribe to the calendar for Dr. Appts, kids sports games, etc. and use our personal account calendars for personal stuff, work, etc.

With both personal and family calendars added to each phone, we can all add or view shared events.

Box is a cloud service similar to drop box. If you download it for iphone/iPad within the next 30 days, you get 50gb free.
Thanks Leeroy - just downloaded it. Question - I'm wanting to synch my photos which worked well but why is it using the space on my device? I can delete the photos from the phone but if I delete if from Box it removes it from the cloud storage - is there not a way to upload to the cloud but not have it on my device?

Nevermind - I figured it out. The storage use I was seeing was the cache. Once I deleted the cache it freed up the space.

For business guys who travel a lot; is there a good expense report app? Maybe something that allows photos of receipts and calculates the expenses on each trip etc.?

The apps I use most

1.pandora

2.facebook

3.final fantasy 3

4.final fantasy 4

5.final fantasy 5
did you try final fantasy dimensions? I really enjoyed the old school nature of that game... good adventure

Also once you switch to "Songza" rather than pandora you won't go back.

What's the best free music app? I normally listen to Pandora but I do like being able to listen to my own songs and fast forward through songs.

Pandora

Songza

Spotify
All three of these are great and offer different benefits. Spotify recently updated their tablet app so that everything is free and you can do all the same stuff on their web/desktop app (listen to entire albums, create custom playlists).

I just recently started using songza and the concierge is awesome. They have recommended playlists based on time/day/mood. So last night it had options for bedtime tunes, party all night tunes, even a cry yourself to sleep mix  The 'Cooking with Jesse Pinkman' playlist is awesome.

I use Clear for groceries. I know it can sync between Macbook and iPhone versions through icloud, not sure if it can sync between two phones though.

Wunderlist is good too, I like Clear because it's simpler but both are good.

Anyone use Check for their finances? I'm not sure whether I'm comfortable with all the info in one spot, despite double passwords and single device restriction. I'd appreciate info. I didn't see any comments about it in a search.

I use it and like it. I don't use their bill pay function, but it seems convenient. Alerts are nice. Sometimes I'll get an alert from Check before I get one from my bank.

Liking Songza, so far. I am noticing though that the volume seems to be lower than itunes/pandora and I'm having to max out my volume just to hear it. Kind of annoying.

If you shop at a Wegman's their iOS app/online app is awesome. Shareable, emailable lists; the ability to scan a UPC code and it adds it to a list; set your store and it gives you your list in the order of the store by aisle. Sweet.

I usually do 99% of my shopping there or Costco, and I make a list on that app, and I get the price for Wegmans. This allows me to go to Costco and compare prices. (We know that The Secret of Costco is that their price is not always best!)
why is that the secret of costco?
If he told you, it wouldn't be a secret.
Some people think that if it is sold there it must be cheaper than anywhere. With some things, if you look, it is actually cheaper elsewhere. (Secret may not have been the right word.)
Costco has a fixed markup percentage that never exceeds 14%, so if it's available elsewhere it's likely not much cheaper or is a loss leader if it is.
Here is a method to the numbers on Costco's prices...
