Five things my dad.......... (1 Viewer)

1) never get less than twelve hours sleep

2) never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city

3) never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body.

Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

My father taught me that there’s always someone who’s smarter, taller, faster, stronger, more knowledgeable, slicker, better looking, and has who more money. If you make yourself the guy who works harder and never stops, you still have a puncher’s chance to beat them all in the long run.
So you might as well just get drunk every night.

I don't remember much as far as words of wisdom.  We did play a lot of catch, and would always go outside at halftime to throw the football around.  I'm pretty sure everytime I dropped one he would say "if it hits your hands, you have to catch it."

Fat lot of good it did me as I went on to become a terrible WR in high school.
Should have just been a terrible soccer player.  No worries about the hands.

I do wish my dad had pushed me into knowing cars, he could fix ours but never dragged me out there to learn.  I know...0...about cars.

And, he never taught me how to play a guitar, I guess I should have asked.

Get your hands out of your pockets
Get a hair cut

Dad was a Drill Instructor for most of my youth.

If you are stressing out about something, figure out if it is something you can do something about.  If it is, don't waste energy on stress, put your energy into doing something about it.  If it is not something you can do anything about, don't waste energy on stress, acknowledge it and move on.

Don't ever get convinced that you are irreplaceable.

You don't get extra credit for doing what is expected of you.

Never hang your head in defeat if you truly tried your best.

You have to baby a loser.  You can drive a winner.  Be a winner and seek other winners.

For every tattoo or piercing you come home with, I take a testicle. After the first two, I'll give you a pass.
