Martin was a thug, he attacked Zimmerman, they both went after Zimmerman's gun after Martin started beating him up and Martin lost...We went over this yesterday, all supported by witnesses, that's why no charges were files, that's why the "stand your ground" defense will not be used and Zimmerman if charged will be acquitted because he was attacked and defended himself...All he is guilty of is being stupid, maybe...

So when you were 17 and some jerk came up to you in your neighborhood or any neighbohood, and confronted you for walking down the road on your way home from the store, you would have been ok and not gone confrontational.

No one is claiming that Zimmerman did not somewhat provoke this and is a jerk. However, if he was attacked, it becomes legally justifiable, or at least gives him some cover.

I agree with this....but you cant just discount what he said, whether he should have said it or not. After seeing that arrest video im sure that the lead investigator saw the same thing. If you have a guy saying what zimmerman said and then you dont see any real signs of a life and death struggle , no blood or wounds or torn clothes, then your going to have a lot of doubt hes telling the truth.

Refused treatment at a hospital. If I'm establishing a self defense case that I shot the kid because he was beating me senseless, I would be requesting photos and a trip to the hospital.

If I'm in the jury. In order for me to be able to convict Zimmerman without any doubt. There would have to be proof that there was 1. no struggle for the gun. Or, 2. proof that Zimmerman was the inital aggressor.

Now if you are in a physical wrestle with another person, close enough to each other so that you or he can throw punches, and you fire a gun into his chest, wouldn't his blood drape all around you? Your hands, face, clothes, etc? I"m not trying to make any argument here, I honestly don't know the answer.

Also, can ballistics tell us how far away the gun fired from the victim? Because that would tell us a lot.

However, if Zimmerman shot him square in the chest it won't take any time for Martin to be down and allow Zimmerman to get up. GSR (gun shot residue) can be traced to see where a person's hands where and how close to the body the shot occured. However, I seriously doubt it was tested since there were not any photographs taken.I think this was no ordinary crime scene where there was no one at the scene admitting to shooting the victim. If Zimmerman was no where to be seen it would be an entirely different crime scene. Not that it should have been though.

OK, fair enough. So is that what makes him racist? I mean, if it was a white or hispanic kid would he not have followed him or not have approached him or not have shot him?

I think Zimmerman is whacked and guilty of killing another person for no legitimate reason. I don't think race had much to do with it as far as he goes, except to help convince him that he was dealing with a hoodlum.i.e. he wasn't acting out of hate (the idea that this is a hate crime seems really farfetched to me), but his prejudices helped lead him down a path that led to killing someone.I do think a fair number of people who are defending Zimmerman like he's a family member would be interpreting things a bit differently if the skin colors were reversed though.

I think skin color has a much bigger impact on how the anti-zimmerman folks view it.
