I think it'd be more accurate to say that she found him guilty morally, but innocent legally.

The family rescued by George Zimmerman when they were trapped in an overturned SUV canceled a scheduled news conference today and is pleading for privacy.

Zimmerman was one of two men who came to the aid of Dana and Mark Gerstle and their two children, who were trapped inside a blue Ford Explorer SUV that had rolled over after traveling off the highway in Sanford, Fla., about 5:45 p.m.

Thursday, the Seminole County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

The Gerstles were expected to hold a press conference today at the office of Zimmerman's attorney Mark O'Mara, but cancelled a few hours before it was supposed to take place.

"They have expressed to us that they are not comfortable doing media interviews at this time and they continue to ask for privacy," the Seminole City Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

Zimmerman's lawyer, Mark O'Mara, said the family had asked to speak, but then got concerned about the anger surrounding the controversial verdict.



"The family called because they wanted to address the media. I knew that if we did it in an organized way, it would help them get back to a normal life.. But they called today and said they were more worried about blow back from saying anything that would be favorable to George, and decided they did not want to do any media," O'Mara said.

The lawyer said that when he spoke to the Gerstles "their voices were trembling" and that they feared saying anything positive about Zimmerman "would be toxic."

O'Mara wouldn't say whether Zimmerman is now carrying a weapon since the Department of Justice asked that the gun and other evidence be sent to federal prosecutors who are reviewing the case.

But Zimmerman "should be [armed] given the threats against him," O'Mara said. He added, "If I were him I would leave" the country.

The Gerstles could not be reached for comment.

Zimmerman has been in hiding since he was acquitted of murder in the death of Trayvon Martin and his acquittal prompted a flood of negative reactions and dozens of protests across the country. Zimmerman as well as his parents have received death threats.

The Thursday crash occurred at the intersection of I-4 and route Route 46, police said, less than a mile from where Zimmerman shot Martin.

By the time police arrived, two people - including Zimmerman - had already helped the family get out of the overturned car, the sheriff's office said. No one was reported to be injured.

I've never discounted either side of this issue but there are plenty here who take issue with me bringing up the moral side. Does anyone really believe GZ had his head banged onto the concrete sidewalk 4-6 times or whatever he said it was? I sure as hell don't.

What do you believe caused the injuries to his head?

I'm just saying his injuries are not consistent with what he said happened. Thus, I believe his injuries are related to a regular old fistfight. He had a few scratches on the back of his head.

All the evidence matches up with his head hitting the concrete. If you can come up with a different scenario that matches all of the evidence we know about, you'd be one step ahead of the prosecutors of this case.Not sure why you don't believe it.

He didn't even need stitches man. Do you really believe that if his head was banged into the concrete that is the only extent of his injuries? That should have cracked his skull or at least needing stitches or probably staples. He also would have most likely lost consciousness. He got into a fight with a kid 50 lbs lighter than him and shot and killed him. I dont believe he was ever in fear for his life. At least the evidence didnt show me that he should have been. But whatever, it is what it is.

You can assume that Z was trying to prevent having his head smashed against the concrete and thus limited the damage. Personally, I think the blows from TM pushed Z's head into the concrete (which would be consistent with the "limited" damage). As for Z never fearing for his life, his screams sure suggest he was at least scared ****less. It isn't unreasonable to stretch that into fear for his life.

See, I'm actually going by the evidence. His head injuries were minor. I'm sorry if you dont understand that.

The difference between a minor head injury and a life threatening one is not nearly as large as you seem to think when talking about an unprotected head hitting concrete.

Seriously...let an enraged someone hit your head a couple times against some concrete and see how you feel. If someone is enraged and hits my head hard enough to break skin, I'm going to be scared S735583less and I'm going to use any means at my disposal to end the attack.

Well if you think he was doing it to be helpful then I guess my first question would be why he's never done anything like that before to our knowledge. But that's not really the point anyway. Family Rescued by George Zimmerman Cancels Appearance Fearing 'Blow Back'

The family rescued by George Zimmerman when they were trapped in an overturned SUV canceled a scheduled news conference today and is pleading for privacy.

Zimmerman was one of two men who came to the aid of Dana and Mark Gerstle and their two children, who were trapped inside a blue Ford Explorer SUV that had rolled over after traveling off the highway in Sanford, Fla., about 5:45 p.m.

Thursday, the Seminole County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

The Gerstles were expected to hold a press conference today at the office of Zimmerman's attorney Mark O'Mara, but cancelled a few hours before it was supposed to take place.

"They have expressed to us that they are not comfortable doing media interviews at this time and they continue to ask for privacy," the Seminole City Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

Zimmerman's lawyer, Mark O'Mara, said the family had asked to speak, but then got concerned about the anger surrounding the controversial verdict.



"The family called because they wanted to address the media. I knew that if we did it in an organized way, it would help them get back to a normal life.. But they called today and said they were more worried about blow back from saying anything that would be favorable to George, and decided they did not want to do any media," O'Mara said.

The lawyer said that when he spoke to the Gerstles "their voices were trembling" and that they feared saying anything positive about Zimmerman "would be toxic."

O'Mara wouldn't say whether Zimmerman is now carrying a weapon since the Department of Justice asked that the gun and other evidence be sent to federal prosecutors who are reviewing the case.

But Zimmerman "should be [armed] given the threats against him," O'Mara said. He added, "If I were him I would leave" the country.

The Gerstles could not be reached for comment.

What's to miss is that you don't seem to understand the huge problem IF (and it's a huge if) local police are engaging in PR work for a man who was just put on trial for murder and exculpated based on evidence that those same police gathered, analyzed and presented.

I have no idea if that story is true or not. Given that nobody else has picked it up, I suspect it's not. But if you can't understand why it would be a big deal if it is true, I don't know what to tell you. It should be obvious.

I got the story initially from my mother-in-law....about 45 minutes later it was on our local news. That story was (at best) a blurb about a "local Sanford boy who was shot on his way home from a convenience store" At this point you're just screwing around with the semantics of MSM. I didn't consider the blurb or the two paragraph blurb on Orlando Sentinal's page "irresponsible". It was short and to the point. Whether you like or dislike the MSM makes no difference to me. I don't like them and I tend to agree with just about everything you said about MSM. Fixed. You can laugh all you want, but how did you find out about it? MSM. Sure you say y ou heard about it on your local news, but you're in SC and the shooting took place in Florida. So why was it on the SC local news? Where did they pick up the story from? They got it from their network, which is part of the MSM. Really no different than everytime a pretty white girl goes missing, it becomes national news. People go missing everyday. Why do they choose which ones to make national news? Because they think they can present it in a way that will get them ratings. The news industry has become very unethical. I say this as a person who used to work in the TV news industry.

I got the story initially from my mother-in-law....about 45 minutes later it was on our local news. That story was (at best) a blurb about a "local Sanford boy who was shot on his way home from a convenience store" At this point you're just screwing around with the semantics of MSM. I didn't consider the blurb or the two paragraph blurb on Orlando Sentinal's page "irresponsible". It was short and to the point. Whether you like or dislike the MSM makes no difference to me. I don't like them and I tend to agree with just about everything you said about MSM. So, when someone gets "outraged" at their reporting, I can't help but laugh because I find it very comical that people will paint them as this brain washing beast to be reckoned with just after saying how terrible they are at what they do. I rank that thought right up there with the people that thought GWB was a complete moron yet was smart enough to pull off the 9/11 attack on his own country and no one was the wiser. Can't compete with that kind of brain power.
