Fight Eagles Fight,

Score a Touchdown 1-2-3!

Hit 'Em Low,

Hit 'Em High!

And Watch Our Eagles Fly!

Fly Eagles Fly, on the Road to Victory!

E-A-G-L-E-S-Eagles! :music: :excited:

Well, I can say without question that I've never been witness to a game that was full of more highs and lows, true moments of exasperation. The first quarter was about as depressing as I could've imagined, from McNabb's fumble which led to 7 points, to Akers missed chip shot, to the Pack taking a 14-0 lead, to Sheldon Brown (Troy Vincent's replacement) getting abused like a rented mule, to the punt pin on the 1 yard line being negated for illegal contact. :wall: :wall:

And just as it looked like things were going to continue to roll downhill, Mike Sherman decides to go for it on 4th and goal on the 1 yard line. Now, regardless of whether his team had been running the ball all over us, you don't go into a hostile stadium and challenge a veteran team's manhood like that. GOAL LINE STAND :excited:

Obviously you all know the rest. Outscored them 17-3 after the first Q. McNabb with the absolutely baffling completion on 4th and 26  , Favre throwing that absolute duck into the air  , McNabb running all over the field like we'd gone back in time two years. Akers coming through when it mattered most.

WHAT A GAME

GB the Pack for playing one heckuva football contest

GB Brett Favre for pulling a "Favre" and hoisting one up for BDawk
GB BDawk for solidifying the defense on a day when there were holes, big holes and rallying the team at the half
GB McNabb who put on a performance for the ages
GB Freddie Mitchell, who basically earned the last three years of mediocrity with that one play
GB the Birds getting pumped up over the "Packers being a team of destiny"
GB Andy Reid for being just about as good a coach as we could hope forCHEERS!

The Eagles were handed that game.Green Bay should have gone for it on 4th down. :wall: Stupid playcalling by GB. PASS in OT?!? Why not hand it off to Ahman?? :wall: WTF were you thinking Favre?? :wall: :wall:

I have never seen a team more undeserving of hosting a championship game then this Eagle team. However, there they sit again poised for another shot at the SB. What type of "give aways" and "bad calls" will soon come crashing down on Carolina?

Cris Collinsworth, is that you?Everyone talks about Favre's duck but what about Dawkins' return? He basically returned it to the edge of field goal range and it was gravy from there.Oh, and how many times this season have you heard "in the grasp" called? If the Eagles don't pick up that 4th and 26, that would be a hot topic this morning.

No Bill not Chris, but if you are looking for imposters and pretenders start with that team out east that wears the green and silver and has a load of fans that act like a bunch of villians. Enjoy the limelight and have a great championship game but try to earn it...

I'm still concerned with the apparent inability to shut down the run....and I'm beginning to think if we don't resign Bobby Taylor, we're in big trouble next year...

WOW! Major league neagativity going on here. As a Skins fan it is my constitutional duty to hate the Eagles (and I do) but they are still going to the THIRD straight NFC Championship game. Sure, Favre blew it, a few bad coaching moves, ect, but they still won the game. Wait until they choke next week to blast them. Enjoy it Wood and the rest of you demented Iggies fans

Does it matter really?? I can't see the Eagles or Panthers beating either NE or Indy.. Eagles are not as good as last year. Carolina is probably the best team in the NFC right now..

The whole stadium was just standing there in disbelief after that delay of game on 4th & 1.The Packers were running all over us and all they needed was like one more foot. They only gained an extra 20 yards on that punt, why not do for it?That goalline stand must have gotten into Sherman's head but that play was a miracle too.He screwed the pooch on a couple of calls. We might not have deserved to win the game but neither did Green Bay with all those dumb calls (not going for it on 4th and <1, throwing the ball a few times on 3rd and short for incompletions when we couldn't stop the run, a couple more we were keeping count of but I can't remember right now). A bunch of times, we were saying to ourselves if we win this Green Bay gave it to us. Thanks Green Bay!The whole week leading up to the game I kept saying if Favre keeps throwing up jump balls we'll win it. Well we missed the first 2 but that last one did it.I think my wife's uncle (who we sit next to at games) said it best after the game... "Tug McGraw must have beat up Favre's dad"Not the best game ever but it was worth it to see the crowd reaction at the Linc.I'll be at the NFC Championship too! Go Eagles!

if it wasn't called a sack it would have been called intetional grounding anyway...the Eagles have had lady luck on their side all year...I believe that it has just struck midnight. A real defense is coming to town.

It's tough to call intentional grounding when there was a receiver in the area. It's better to be good than lucky. I can't wait until Sunday.

Oh, by the way. I heard this morning that a car hit a pole and the power went out in Manayunk with less than 4 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. Imagine rooting for your birds in the final minutes and the power goes out!  :( I heard there were tons of people that went down to their cars to listen to the final minutes and OT and when we converted 4 & 26, kicked the tying field goal, and kicked the winning field goal everyone was honking thier horns and flashing their lights. :D And no... no riots for the f***ing Philly bashers that are about to make a comment. :P

Nice one!!!! Real class there!

Congratulations to the Eagles. My guts were ripped out and thrown on the train tracks last night. I guess Sherman should have gone for it, but it worked out until the 4th and mother$%^&^*' 26!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wall: :wall: :wall: How in the world can you not stop a 4th and 26. :bag: Sorry, it's still haunts me this morning.Good luck to the Eagles.

The annual visit from Santa drains the last of the hooliganism for the year. Eagle fans will need to train harder in the future.

Would that be the same defense that the Eagles dropped 25 on IN CAROLINA in Week 13. The same game where neither Bobby Taylor or Brian Dawkins were playing? :rolleyes:GB haters...all I know is I must have heard 72,000 "experts" harping about "team of destiny this" and "team of destiny that", how the Birds wouldn't stop Ahman (they didn't in either game and it didn't matter), how Favre was playing his best football in years, how Westbrook was hurt and was such a huge loss, how Emmons being out would really expose the D, and you know what? The Eagles made just enough plays to beat another very good team in the Packers. Now we get Carolina instead of the Rams, I couldn't be giddier.Cheers

As mentioned above, enjoy it now. Indy would destroy this Philly team. And how about that "home field advantage" now? 2 out 4 home teams lost and it could have been a sweep for the away teams had Bennett caught the ball and Green Bay ran it on 4th and a foot. But any ways, kudos to Philly. I don't know how they've managed to make it to 3 straight championship games. I honestly don't think they are that good.Good luck to you.

4th and 26!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ironic that it was a 4th and 26 (AZ-Minn game) that got them into the playoffs and that 4th and 26 essentially knocked them out.

I think my wife's uncle (who we sit next to at games) said it best after the game... "Tug McGraw must have beat up Favre's dad"
Nice one!!!! Real class there!
What is this, ballroom dancing?! And if you're looking for a lack of class, how about #4 blowing off all media after the game? Did anyone happen to hear Favre's post game comments? Oh, he didn't make any. There's class.

Hehe, talk about getting a victory handed to you on a silver platter....It was a great game either way. There were indeed many highs and lows, and the better team won it. The Iggles were pinned against the ropes and they responded with a 4th and 26 miracle and also given yet another chance with the Favre "duck."BTW, if I'm not mistaken, the Favre "duck" was actually supposed to have someone underneath it, but Javon Walker decided to not run the correct route because he saw that there was a fast blitz coming, and decided to stay in to give Favre a quick target. Not defending Favre one bit - he had no business throwing that ball. But Walker can be equally blamed for that play...

Hardly ballroom dancing or anything that would resemble any sort of logic.

Since when does ole number 4 have to come out and talk to the media? Where is the written rule that the guy has to talk with anyone at all after a game? What is he supposed to say that was not said during the pre game hype and on the field? The guy explained to all that when the season was over that he would fall back into his private life to deal with his family loss. A game pales in comparison to this and after tossing a wounded duck you want him to come out and say what?

I hardly think the best team won that game but the Eagles did win and they move on. I can care less as I have no money, bets or interest in the Eagles or the Packers. Honestly, I am sick and tired of the Mcnabb hype and it has been long and winded for the past 9 months. All I want to see is a decent SB with two great teams and I hardly think that the Eagles are a great team. Who cares- enjoy it while you can but avoid acting like a hooligan because you embaress this team and the Eagle fans that do have some class here.

To suggest that there is a lack of class because Favre does not feed the media as opposed to some clown suggesting that Tug McGraw kicked his father's can in heaven for a cheap Philly win is pure nonsense and about as low as it can get from my perspective. All it is is some drunken banter in the stands.

Brett Favre is about as classy as a player can be in the NFL and to suggest that he is not after all the respect he gets from his peers, his playoff appearances, his MVP awards and his gritty play on the gridiron is just pure horse manure pal!

Did someone piss in your Cheerios? Geez ... stawp da hate!!!

The way the masses are hating the Eagles right, dissing and dismissing, sort of reminds me of the reaction to the Pats making it to (and winning) the Superbowl 2 years ago.Everyone here can second guess the play-calling, but in my opinion, no one should be discounting the effort made by both teams on the field.Sherman may have crawled into ##### at the end of the game, but it was the players on GB that failed to execute. Why is the Eagles are the lucky ones? They made the plays in the end when Destiny was Packing it in. 4th and 26, the birds could have packed it in, but they did not. They made the play. The Eagles got them to 4th and 1The Eagles stopped them at 4th and 1 from the goal when GB had 4 tries from inside the 10McNabb ran for 100 yards McNabb scrambled and hit Pinky for the huge TDDuce picks up 10 yards in OT when he should have been tackled for a gain of 2. They converted 4th and 26 with 1 minute left on the clock in the 4th quarter down by 3 burried in their own territoryBut the Eagles did not make plays? If those are not plays, then I do not see what GB did that was so much better that every assertains they SHOULD HAVE WON THIS GAME?For each one of those plays were the Eagles succeeded, you can point to something that GB did not do to allow that success. That is the nature of the game, where one team succeeds, the other has failed. For all the injuries the Eagles have overcome to starters this year (Westbrook, Vincent, Taylor, Emmons, the majority of the defensive line), I am impressed by the way the continue to win games. You could go back to EVERY game this weekend and find a play that could have changed the outcome of the game - every game!Face it world - you picked DESTINY and DESTINY lost!

Ole #4 has been talking to everyone with a microphone all week. Enjoy your destiny, Brett.

Your sportsmanship is just a joke. And your handle says it best because the only thing that slithers in the mud is a carp not a shark. Your nonsense is certainly the actions of a bottom feeder. Ole number 4 cannot face the media? Seems to me that the guy faced the media for the past two weeks after losing his father and that takes more courage and balls than your lame ### could muster. Regardless of wither Brett is classless for his lack of facing the media it is 100% obvious that he has more class than you will ever have. Is this the best that Philly fans can offer on this board outside of Mr. Wood?

yes, that would be the same defense that was playing on a short field most of the day thanks to offensive miscues and a couple of missed feild goals. The birds scoring drives averaged 47 yards. yes, that would be the same defense that shut down the birds 3 times in the red zone and held them to field goals. that would be the same defense that held McNabb (1 INT) to 182 yards passing and held the 3 headed rushing attack to 118 yards. you know what they say, be careful for what you wish for... I would have been more comfortable watching McNabb picking apart Jason Sehorn..

Ahhh yes- the Boonesfarm wine is wearing off from last night's celebration because addresing me as Sir is probably the proper thing for you to do... ;)

After watching Carolina, I really think the Eagles may end up losing in the AFC Championship game......AGAIN!
You mean the Panthers hit them so hard they knock them into the other conference?

LOL! Its all good...and yes my head is starting to feel much better now that I've got a couple cups of coffee in me  Favre is without a doubt a great player and probably just as nice a guy. He should have faced the media tho, imo. My heart definitely goes out to him and his family (as it does with anyone who loses a loved one). His display of courage recently was without reproach. However, he didn't shy away from the spotlight at any time except for when his team lost.

McNabb won't run for 100 yards against Carolina - they actually have a Defensive line. He better be passing more accurately than the first Carolina game, or it will be oh-for-three for the Birds. That said, I do miss the St. Louis - Philly game that SHOULD have been. On the other hand, John Fox is twice as good a coach as Sherman and 10 times as good as Martz, so maybe this is for the best...

I agree with most and I know he hates to lose but I have to think that if he would have faced the media he would have just broken down. He had to have been drained mentally and physically and when that happens one can be vulnerable to a melt down. I am sure that some media rat would have asked him the questions outside of the game just to get the sensationalism of it all.

Way to go Eagles what a win. Thank You Farve for throwing one of you vintage passes to Dawkins. What a great day Sunday was!!!!!

Now we get Carolina instead of the Rams, I couldn't be giddier.
I would have preferred the Rams. Outside of the dome facing adversity and those guys fold like cheap tents. Carolina is going to line up and :boxing: for four quarters.

GB McNabb who put on a performance for the ages

GB Andy Reid for being just about as good a coach as we could hope for
 Let's not push it. That decision to go for it on 4th down was a horrible one which fortunately worked out, and McNabb had more than his share of bad plays (that first fumble, for example). Congrats and all but GB lost it as much as PHI won it IMO.

BigRed, you can't have it both ways. If GB "gave the game away" because of:
The 4th and short punt
The 4th and 26 blown coverage
The Favre pick...then Philly tried to "give the game away" because of:

The McNabb fumble
The missed Akers FG
Getting put into 4th and 26 instead of getting rid of the ball...football is largely about minimizing your mistakes and capitalizing on your opponents. GB capitalized on the Birds miscues early to go up 14-0 and the Birds capitalized on the Packers miscues late. It's as simple as that, either team could've won, both made some potentially huge mistakes, both made some absolutely huge plays, and one team came out with the win.

Cheers

Plain and simple, the Packers lost this game. Make all the excuses you want. Blame this 4th down call, blame this turnover, blame whatever you want. Woulda, shoulda, coulda and a quarter still won't even get you a phone call. What it boils down to is the Packers lost this game. They didn't make the plays when they needed to. Congratulations to the Eagles for sticking in there to the end and playing a well fought game.

Crawk back under your rock, you dallas cockaroach!

Yeah, Green Bay should've probably won. Yeah, Green Bay would've probably beat them 2 out of 3 times (even in Philly). However, you have to give the Eagles credit simply because they pulled it out. I think the Carolina/Philly game will be interesting. The Eagles are far from a dominating team, but they're at home & have some confidence. The Panthers are better than most people believe & have a good shot at upsetting Philly.

The shame in all of this is the best 4 teams in the NFL were probably the 4 left in the AFC this past week (NEP, KCC, IND, & TEN). I'm an NFC guy, myself (being a Dallas fan), but I'll admit their top teams are quite a bit better than ours. That's just the way it goes, though. It seems to swing back & forth every several years.

I fear a blowout in the Super Bowl. If not a blowout, I'm afraid it will be a lousy game. Even so, we've been given some great playoff games this year. I can't remember as many close games. :)
