Joe Flacco, QB, BALFool's Gold: 17 of 23 for 232 yards and 1 TDA stay of execution for Flaccy-boy! The headhunters were beginning to call for Troy Smith, but this performance against Miami extends his shaky stay at the helm. The only problem is that Flacco didn't actually get any better - he just happened to face a secondary that hasn't been able to stop anyone of late. The Dolphins' best pass defender is Yeremiah Bell, which won't be the case against teams like the Raiders, Giants, Eagles, and even the Browns or Texans. Start your passing games against Miami people - Flacco has shown us the way.
Maybe I'm missing something, but I live here in Baltimore and religiously follow the Ravens. I haven't heard anyone calling for Troy Smith to get into a game. Sure before the season started there was plenty of debate, but once Flacco got he job, everyone has been behind him. He's the future here in Baltimore and there no point in going backwards now.

Hi GG-

I, uh, hate to think you just throw around the accusation that I would make something up lightly. In fact, one of Flacco's own teammates -- star Terrell Suggs -- was one of the folks calling for a switch to Smith. From the Baltimore Sun at http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/footbal...,4687551.story:

"Right now, I think [Flacco is] all right," Suggs told 2 Live Stews, a nationally syndicated radio show that is not aired in Baltimore. "But like I said, in the end, Troy should be the starter [because he's] the better man for the job."

If he's the future, the future is a long way away IMHO. He lacks feel for the game and all of those little things you can't teach -- pocket instincts, quick-trigger decision making and so forth. Maybe he will acquire them, but I see a bunch of tools without the ability to harness them in Flacco. Just my .02!
