Ford F150 Raptor (1 Viewer)

Can't wait to hear about how many bottles of hand sanitizer you can fit in the bed. Suburbs problems are numerous, seems like this truck will be an inspiration to the whole neighborhood.
Just last weekend I had to rent a pickup at the local Home Depot to get a bunch of stuff home that we couldn't fit in the car. It was like 50 bucks plus 20 in fees and some silly has charge. That could have gone towards my car payment, brah.
Well played. You win this round Otis.

Isn't it next year they are coming out with one with around 300 lbs less weight and an upgraded engine? Wait until then. BTW, what was the name of the companion truck they put out the same time they did the Raptor, I can't recall. Some sort of more desert rally ready thing.

Me, right now I have a 2000 Ram 1500 with 30,000 actual miles. I'm thinking of having it repainted, a new bedliner, and then other upgrades, maybe. I don't like the cloth interior. Taking suggestions for other upgrades, no lift packages, put other things to imply I have a small penis are fine. Winch, rollbar with lights, step rails. Make your suggestions. Suggestions can include modifications for a ZARP vehicle. They can also include rack systems for skis, bikes, and kayaks. I once had a topper on the thing but got rid of it, but sweet toppers, particularly with camping expansions would be great.

I've always been a luxury car guy.

I don't need to look tougher than I already am and I don't do manual labor so I don't need a truck.

I don't need a sports car because women don't want to 'go fast' when they get in my car because they know they're exactly where they want to be.

Can Casa Otis' garage even handle something that big?
We don't put our cars in the garage round these parts, feller.
Oh, yeah. Your neighbors will love that monstrosity parked in your driveway.
Oh well if my neighbors won't like something I probably shouldn't do it. Should I ask them what to wear to work tomorrow?

The new one is 2017. It can't be a stupid impulse buy if I wait two years on it.

A paid for, rusted, pickup truck is the right play. Something where you can throw dirty #### in the bed and not worry "oooooh, did I scratch my beautiful truck?"

You said in another thread your wife won't let you get a f-150. So your not getting this. I'm going to go take a nice Sumday drive in mine later on.
You mean someday, when you get one?
Just got back from the hardware store. Picked up a few things. Tossed them in the bed. Cause that's how truck guys do it.

2013 F-150 black as night !!!!!
I prefer medium gray F-150's.

Never got the fascination with brand new looking trucks - part of the attraction of trucks to me is not giving a #### about them.

Except your wife.

Good point.

Is this another thread where the OP asks a question about something they'll never do, and people get sucked in to the hype?

BTW-A raptor in the hands of a fat NYC suburbs attorney is blasphemy.

Otis

Consider instead a brand spanking new Ford F450 Platinum. You can go two directions there. You can get the dually or the FX4 off road package. I am willing to bet you will be the only guy in your neighborhood with a dually, unless you live next to polo guy. Polo guy sometimes has one to move a 5th wheel if he has a string of horses. Now the off road package, that will get you through those Vermont storms on your way to your second home up by Stowe. Don't have a second home, well that bad boy will give you a reason to get one.

All the more reason for me to do it. :stirspot:

Here's the thing...there are many large urban areas where it's still cool to have a tricked out truck. I know in the Twin Cities many successful exec and lawyer types still hunt and fish and have trucks. I bet it's the case in many others.

Here in Chicago though - no one except contractors have trucks. No one moves stuff themselves. No one hunts. No one goes off-roading or builds their own decks. Maybe out in the exurbs. But in the areas like Otis is used to, nada. I would imagine LI/NYC is exactly the same.

It's a sweet truck. I don't know if having a sweet truck on LI is really 'sweet' though.

Maybe I'll start antiquing.

You know what I really liked. The Chevy Avalanche and Honda Ridgeline types

They dont make them anymore though

For midsized pickups

Chevy started making the Colorado again - a midsized Pickup.

And Honda still makes those trucks.

I would have practical use for a truck only about twice a year, but I still would love to get one. Not a Raptor, just a standard F-150.

Alas, not in the cards just yet. Need one to carry the kids around (Expedition) and I still have a year on my own lease (Focus). Maybe when it's up it will be time to take the leap.

I was talking about those specific models.
Honda Ridgleine is made up until 2014.

They are taking a year off and redesigning it for 2016 :bag:

Raptor is a nice truck but overpriced for what you get. Order a F150 Lariat Crew Cab, about the same price, loaded up with everything you need and more cab room for the expanding Otis brood.

You can't put a price on a sense of restored manhood. Otis is not buying a vehicle, he is buying self perception. He is going to be a Raptor guy.

I remember when Otis was contemplating being an Escape guy. Then I believe we had Range Rover and BMW guy. Otis works hard. There is no reason he should not have fun with his vehicle choices. To an extent don't we all hope to have the means to make fun, indulgent choices from time to time. I say he goes for it with no apologies. I hope he customizes that bad boy so that he can escape N.Y. during any apocalypse, and so he can intimidate Smart Car, Fiat, and Prius owners as he rolls up on them on the Long Island Expressway.

Don't hold back Otis, and don't compromise. My boss just purchased a Ford F-550 pickup as a toy. He loves it. He can't park it in his garage due to the height, nor at his home in the driveway or on the street due to homeowner covenants, put he loves that truck. In size it is to my ram 1500, what my Ram 1500 is to a Corolla.

(Correction - the Boss tells me it is an F-650.)

So you should buy an old ambulance to travel to the hospital faster when HIV starts to deteriorate your immune system.

What's the point of having a little money, if not to use it to buy big toys?

Most men start out as little boys loving to build and destroy ####. We love trucks and tractors especially. 5 year olds don't dream of being lawyers. As we get older, not much changes except the tools toys just get a lot bigger and more expensive.

For a man stuck in a hellhole of city in a suit and tie all day and, I assume, never learning how to fix or build anything either, that yearning to finally fulfill little 5 year-old Oats' hopes and dreams is really strong.

That's a badass truck Otis, and you should absolutely buy it.
Preach it
Amen!If only I could find one for sale locally OH WAIT

$50k for a Ford pickup with 30k miles... You should def get that.

I'm listening.
Sorry, should have said the Platinum rather than the Lariat, http://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/compare-models/?models=platinum|lariat

Any way you go it's going to be a sweet truck, enjoy!
Why not stick with the Lariat and save the ~$12,000? This question is aimed more at Otis. Would still be a sweet ride for a suburb warrior.
Seriously??? The Lariat does not scream "Hey look at me" so why would O waste his time with it.

O should really be looking at a KR 350-450 dually at a minimum.
