This feels like a healthy dose of cold water on the Detroit run game. Ragnow was a Pro Bowl level center. I'm sure the Lions knew this was a possibility but feels weird to get this news after the draft.

He's been flirting with it for a couple years. Its a big loss, especially when coupled with losing Zeitler, and Ben Johnson as well.
I'm less worried about the run game, and more about Goff, who has a very checkered past when it comes to interior pressure.

He has hinted at this the last couple of off seasons. He has a foot issue that can't be operated on.

Yes, him and another OL in the 5th. They also have been cross training them in rookie camp in all 3 interior positions.

Right but I had my eye on Tate as a potential starting RG for my Birds. I think a lot of places had him ranked as the #2 OG in the class. I'd be surprised to not see him win it, or I guess if one of there other Gs are versatile, have them slide into C and this guy start at OG.

Ragnow has easily been the best center in the NFC North the past 4-5 seasons, at least since Corey Lindsley left Green Bay. Knowing the Lions current management they surely have a plan and probably won't miss a beat but they've lost a very important, great player.

I would be shocked if this offensive line didn't take a step back for this season and maybe part of next year. You don't just replace an all pro level player.
You don't lose the captain of the O Line, the guy responsible for blitz pickups and one of the top 3 centers in all of football and not miss a beat.
It's a huge loss.
Detroit has now lost Zeitler and Ragnow to their interior line.

No doubt. My comment is a reference to the fact the Lions lost at least half their week one defensive starters including one of the most important non-QB players in the league to injury last season and still won 15 games. I don't think losing a center in June is going to derail their season.

Absolutely . . . not true. If you have a plan in place to replace the player you won't miss a beat if the replacement is any good. The Eagles just did it last season replacing Jason Kelce with Cam Jurgens.

Let's discuss the impact on guys like Monty and Gibbs for the upcoming season
Goff is a good QB but he usually needs quite a bit of talent surrounding him and a strong OL to max his skills
He has also, historically, played poorly when pressured up the middle.
I think what you're going to see is more outside rushes to take advantage of your tackles and the speed of Gibbs.
Agree and I think it's being greatly overlooked. Not only did we lose a stud, the Lions took a big hit to their depth.
