Fred Jackson - What is he worth? (1 Viewer)

I know Fred Jackson is performing as a top 5 RB now, but wondering what the consensus is on him Week 5 and going forward ? He is an everydown back that gets the goalline touches in a fairly high powered offense so I would think he is a hold but I hear a lot of folks stating that they just dont trust this to continue.

Is he a hold or are the first four weeks performances fools gold?

Do you sell high on him now? If so, what is he worth? Is he worth a top tier receiver like a Nicks or Wallace?

Probably more than people will offer. The trade deals ive been given have been insulting. I would only take a top wr, at at least Nicks' level.

He's a nice RB to have at this point. Gets a full load and has a really nice playoff schedule for redrafters. I would trade him unless it was worth a top 5RB value in redraft.

Dynasty however all depends on your team makeup and if you have a shot to win this year. He had value in dynasty but to only contenders as he's 30(low milage tho)

In a dynasty I made this trade involving FJax, maybe it will give you an idea of his value:

Gave: Fred Jackson, Roddy White, Antonio Brown, Christian Ponder, 2nd round pick

Got: Chris Wells, AJ Green, 1st round pick

I didn't think I'd be able to get good value for him either (because of his lack of name recognition) but I was offered this trade and accepted:

Fred Jackson, Tony Romo, Mario Manningham

for

Fitzgerald, Gronkowski, Ingram

This is in redraft, btw. It was hard to gauge interest in Fred but this owner kept offering trades for him so he clearly values him highly, which always helps.

ETA: I think you sell if you can find someone who values him highly enough (is willing to give a top WR for him for example) otherwise hold. He'll probably perform at a high level throughout the season but getting an elite receiver would be too much to pass up imo.

Not really, that is a terrible trade and one not likely to be replicated in other leagues.

I have Rice/Forte so Fred Jackson only plays on bye weeks and was just offered Michael Vick and Hightower for him and Reggie Wayne. Leaning towards taking it.

I traded a 1st, 3rd and a 2013 2nd for Jackson, Wayne, and Henne in a real deep keeper league (2 weeks ago before Henne's injury). I'm defending champ with a definite chance to win, but was somewhat thin at RB and WR due to injury. Definitely taking a chance. Wayne is my 3rd WR, so I don't need normal production from him. If Peyton comes back and he can somewhat get it back, then that's a huge bonus. I figure getting another year after this one from Freddie isn't out of the question. It's win now vs taking a pick late in the first.

12 team dynasty

Traded: D. Jax , brandon Marshall, 7th round pick in 2012

for

F. Jax, brandon gibson, 3rd round pick in 2012

Tough to gauge as D. Jax and Marshall are both in last year of terminal contracts and F. jax is in first year.

But i hope this helps.

After yesterdays performance, seems like folks are starting to buy into Freddy.

I have been offered (4 separate deals):

Fjax for Nicks

Fjax for Wallace

Fjax for AJ

Fjax for Mega

I would like to jump on the last offer but feel like Fjax has a good shot at keeping this up for awhile longer.

Keep him due to the fact his playoff schedule is cake.

His statelines seem very similar to Arian Foster's last year. Will he remain on this pace to be the 2011 Runningback King? The simple fact we are asking this question makes him very valuable. I know in the league I own him he is untradable because he doesn't have the sexy name and the high projected draft day prediction. I would be lucky to turn him for a WR2, and that just isn't worth it. BTW, I picked him up off waivers because the only Bills player rostered was Stevie Johnson. :D

i have Rice. dont have FJax. Yesterday, in particular, Fjax looked like Rice in the passing game. Put a shoulder into someone, turn around, get a little dump off and do something....and RFitz was going to him in a similar fashion/cadence that Flacco goes to Rice.

The past three weeks, Jackson has been huge in the passing game. He is not just a great RB now, he is also a PPR monster. I played against Peterson yesterday and FJax scored more points.

I'm holding too. Can't afford to turn him loose, he's the only reason I'm winning with my otherwise sorry group of RB's.

If were drafting today I'd say it goes Rice, Calvin, Foster, AP, Forte, McFadden, Jackson, McCoy

So, if it's a one for one trade there isn't much you can do with him except play him and let him win you weeks. If you have running back depth and can trade him for Calvin, I'd do that.

I don't know what kind of depth I'd have to have to be willing to trade him. I currently have Bradshaw on my bench as my #3, and the drop from Feddy to Bradshaw is so drastic that I would literally have to get a top 3 WR to make up for it. I'm about as big on Bradshaw as one can get too, so it's hard for me not to trade Freddy to start Bradshaw again. And I already have Calvin so I don't think there's another WR I'd take...I say enjoy him while he is the hottest RB in football. His perceived value is just much lower then his actual value.

Before week 4 I traded Arian Foster for Steve Smith and Fred Jackson. Seeing Arian come back so strong in week 4 had me nervous, but I am now very happy I made the deal.

Any more opinions - especially for getting top WRs? Is he untradable at this point or can you deal him for anything less than Mega if you are deep at RB?

I assumed he was talking redraft.
Why would you assume this? Dynasty is the superior format. In dynasty, unfortunately he is not worth much. You may be able to swing him to a contending team for a Frank Gore or DeAngelo Williams or the like. Or if you are talking WRs, maybe an older stud there? Like...Reggie Wayne type or something?

why on earth would a rebuilding team accept frank gore or williams for him? in that scenario you take nothing but high upside youth or high draft picks, not a RB close in age to Freddy with a ton more mileage(gore) producing less or a time share RB nearing 29yrs old thats not remotely close to anything jackson provides even in dynasty.

I dunno, maybe because this site provides vastly more content based on re draft?
And THIS is the problem...
Why? 80% of fantasy football players do not play in dynasty leagues. Just because you think it's the better format doesn't mean that other people agree with you.And frankly, I think most dynasty players are horrible at fantasy football. The fact that most wouldn't give up more than Frank Gore or DeAngelo Williams for Fred Jackson is insane. Youth is so overvalued in dynasty it's not even funny and this is a perfect example of that.

just to put this out there for DYNASTY, i did trade for Freddy Jackson in my 14team dynasty league in week 4 for Percy Harvin, James Starks and my 1st rounder in 2012 for Freddy and Eli Manning(i needed a backup to Stafford). Now i even think i got a good deal off what i sent him since my pick will be close to end of the pack.

Before people even talk about Jackson and his performance this year i suggest you check out his playoff schedule weeks 14-16 then comment on here. He's one guy who is looking like a serious force now and even sweeter for the playoffs.

I've been getting lots of offers for FJAX and I've just come to the conclusion that he's not tradeable. His playoff schedule is too juicy and he doesn't have the big name to draw an over the top deal for someone who really wants him. He has a chance to be RB #1 this season and be a PPR monster as well.

Is his playoff schedule really that great? I'm guessing most leagues don't play Week 17, so that means his playoff schedule is @San Diego, Miami at home, Denver at home.

That would be the 17th, 14th and 23rd ranked run defenses. That's not terrible, but it's not really all that amazing either.

Just shipped out Fjax and change for the following to a guy with no starting QB's left Pick should end up in the 5-8 range(Dynasty) (Everyone minus Fjax were riding the pine every week so no other starters)

Gave up: Cassel, Matt KCC QB;Tebow, Tim DEN QB;Jackson, Fred BUF RB;Gonzalez, Tony ATL TE

For: Gore, Frank SFO RB;Cooley, Chris WAS TE;Davis, Fred WAS TE; Year 2012 Round 1 Draft Pick from Inch by Inch

Ouch

Jacskon was doing this the last 6-8 games of 2010. Lets face it..the guy is for real.

For where people drafted Jackson they should be very happy.

I am not in a dynasty, but I do play in a keeper league. If he keeps playing like this, it will be a tough decision to decide whether to keep him or not next season (as a ninth rounder).
