Fred Taylor Starting (1 Viewer)

Fred Taylor, RB JACNews: According to a source close to CBS SportsLine.com, Fred Taylor will start for the Jaguars in Week 11 at Tennessee.Analysis: Taylor was listed as doubtful to start the week. This means that Greg Jones will not start and he is no longer a recommended starter for this week. He will still see some touches and would take over for Taylor if he gets hurt. Taylor is a risky start due to his injury.Profile

There is a pinned thread above for this stuff.
A thread with this title and startling news deserves its separate thread. Caveat that Fanball is somewhat unreliable, however.

Crap, I hate this Fragile Freddy mess. He's always a headache. Do I stick with Jones on the basis Fred makes it a quarter at best or do I go with Caddy, R Williams or J Lewis?

If this is true....who has the BALLS to play him?
Another question is who has the balls to still start Jones either with the belief Taylor won't make it through the whole game or Jones gets some goal-line action?

More analysis from Fanball:Jaguars running back Fred Taylor is starting today's game against the Titans despite spending the week as doubtful on the injury report. He missed practice all week because of a bone bruise on his ankle that also kept him out of last week's win over the Ravens. Our ViewThis is bad news for the fantasy owners of Greg Jones, who would have been the starter if Taylor hadn't played. It's hard to trust Taylor this week considering he is playing hurt, but he is your best fantasy option out of the Jags' backfield.

Jeff Lageman on Jags radio just confirmed Fred will play today.(He didn't say anthing about starting or workload though.)But why have him play if you're not going to start him?

I don't know if this helps or hurts anyone's decision, but another site I subscribe to said: Starting Fred Taylor (ankle), who did not look good during pre-game warmups, will start.I have G. Jones and not Taylor, so this makes my decision more difficult, but I guess maybe this would help some Taylor owners who have other viable options.

Great. Can't start Taylor because of the risk that he only plays a quarter until he re-injures his ankle. Can't start Jones because of the chance that Taylor plays well and lasts the entire game.

:wall: :wall: Unbelievable.....had G Jones all ready to go in my lineupContemplating leaving him in there, my only other option is C Perry

Just confirmed on CBS Taylor startingEDIT SIRIUS just reported that he looked good in practice and will start

What a mess. I have Jones and Taylor and was looking forward to going with Jones this week. I may have to go with Chris Brown instead, now, even against a pretty tough JAX D, because who knows how the mess in the JAX is going to shake out today. And what's this about him not looking good in warmups?

Wow, now I have to decide between Alstott and Jones....anybody?
I still think there's a GREAT chance Jones gets around 10 carries, and he's almost certain to still get goal line looks. I'd stick with him.

You have to go with Taylor over Jones. Remember a few weeks ago when Taylor was doubtful? He played, and played great. I'll take my chances with Taylor.

If you're trying to decide whether to stick with Jones, there are some factors in his favor:The Titans can be run on so the Jags could run the ball 25-30 times a game. Even if Taylor is looking sensational it's hard to think Del Rio would want to run Freddie into the ground this week so Jones could get around 10 carries. No matter how healthy Taylor is, Jones should get the goal-line carries and you'd have to think given the state of affairs with the Titans' defense, there will be a shot at some goal-line runs for Jones this week. The last time Freddie started a game, he re-injured the ankle and Jones took over and did well. Of course, the flipside here is Taylor could look great, get all the carries and Leftwich accounts for any Jags' TDs through the air and Jones is worthless. The safe move is to bench Jones if you have another good option. But there is some upside there if you want to gamble and stick with him.

Taylor wasn't doubtful that week. It was against the Rams, and he was questionable. He was also coming off a bye week. With this news, I've replaced Greg Jones as my flex player with Kevan Barlow (considering Antonio Bryant), and I'm keeping Taylor on the bench in another game for Keyshawn and Roy.

I've gotta believe that Taylor is good to go. JAX is playing well without Taylor and if he's insisting that he is ok - he'd better be. Del Rio will tear him a new butt if he asks out during the game because he's still hurt. But........ :wall: I've gotta decide between Taylor, G. Jones or Kevin Jones vs a stout Dallas run defense. Right now - I'm thinking of throwing the dice with Taylor.Willie

Similar situation. When I saw the email, I was thrilled. Then I remembered, I have to choose between Taylor, JJones, Gado and Mike Anderson - start 3.

Anyone that has 3 RB slots considering starting both Taylor and Jones?I'm considering it since I have to pick 3 from:Taylor, Jones, SDavis, Julius Jones.

:( This makes no sense to me. I thought Jones was a no-brainer this week. He filled in admirably...why put Taylor in there today? Seems premature to me. I'd be surprised if he finishes the game. This is good news long term for Jones owners. I see Fragile going down again.

:hot: I've now also have to decide between Greg Jones and Kevin Jones. Given what a piece of garbage Kevin Jones has been, I'm still leaning towards Greg Jones. You've got to believe that Greg Jones will still see significant time this week, given his outstanding play last week. Plus, who knows how many carries Kevin Jones will lose to Pinner and Bryson.

Because he's the starter and if he's able to play he starts. It's that simple. Yes it sucks for Jones owners (and I'm a Jones owner) but it's not that hard to understand.

Perfect. Another week where I get to pick the wrong 2 RBs to play. I've lost 4 games this year with poor coaching decisions, and was hoping to have no choice this week with Taylor and Parker out. Now I get to sit Chris Brown for one of these two miracles. Anyone have a coin? Heads for Taylor, tails for parker. I'm beginning to believe a coin toss will do better picking the lineup than I.

My guess is that we will see RBBCI think that Jones will get his touches today also.I own both and I am keeping Jones in

Starting C Perry over G Jones. Feel alot safer, knowing he will be on the field alot at leastCant see the Jags starting F Taylor today if he isnt ready to carry the load, and Im not about to start hoping the guy gets hurt on his 1st carry or something like thatHurts though, because G Jones was ready to rumble today

Remember a few weeks back where Taylor tested the ankle and decided to go. He went off against the Rams and looked incredible. By far his best game of the year. I am rolling the dice with the fragile one, because last time I didn't and it burnt me.

FWIW, LaBrandon Toefield is inactive for today's game. I guess there's a strong sense that Taylor can play a significant chunk of time. However, Pearman has been known to be the third down back too.

this sucks.

Im keeping Jones in my lineup.
This sounds like a good time for that 120 min IPA (21%)!!Starting to lean towards Brown. At least he'll get all the carries (until he gets hurt!)
:excited: :X

Im a bit hungover today.

Im gonna roll the dice on Jones. Only half of us will make the right decision, and I hope Im in the group that chooses.....wisely.

sounds very good.I'm putting TJones in for GJones

Well, I picked up Greg Jones this week and had him in my starting lineup. I just pulled him for Julius. Could be the right decision, could be the wrong one. I guess we'll see.BUT, I did want to say "Good Job" to FBG because if I hadn't gotten that email about Taylor, I wouldn't have known about this situation. Also, checked the news and saw that JJ had been named the starter, so at least that gave me a rationale for the change. Thanks, FBG!

could have done the exact same thing, and probably would have but stepped out to get my bets in and came back to this. totally unexpected slick play by the Jags. :wall: :wall: :wall:
