Fred Taylor's personal goals for 2007 (1 Viewer)

He was being interviewed by Sean Salisbury(sp) and some other announcer on ESPN Radio in the NYC area 5:00pm

When asked about his personal goals, and what he could improve on, he said he wanted to reach 1500yds and wants to also help the team by improving his receiving skills.

He said he if not for his hammy, he felt he could have gone for 1500 last year.

Said MJD is a good RB that can be great, mentioned Barry Sanders great.

IIRC it almost sounded like he referred to MJD as his backup.

He has ran for almost 10K yds and never made a pro bowl.

I never knew that.

That "other announcer" was John Clayton, btw, and he was the one who asked the question about his numbers goals for the season. He threw those numbers out in sort of a "why not?" manner. It didn't strike me at all as realistic, and more importantly, Taylor sounded like he was just throwing these numbers out there. Wasn't like any kind of proclamation, like "here I am, watch me get 2000 all-purpose yards this year."Pretty much expect the same as last year, barring injury.

Even MJD refers to himself as Taylor's backup (as do most people involved with the team). Whether that stays that way or whether they are RB1 and RB1a is another thing. But heading into the season Taylor is still annointed as the "starter."

As a MJD owner, I am glad Freddy didn't mention any goals about scoring TD's. :sadbanana:

Wow I had no idea he never made a Pro Bowl. He absolutely deserved it his rookie year (98). Other than TD, who in the AFC would you have put over him?
IF i'm not mistaken i think Marshall was still with the Colts
And maybe Eddie George.
Fred Taylor: 264 carries 1223 yards 14 TDsMarshall Faulk: 324 carries 1319 yards 6 TDs 86 receptions 908 yards 4 TDsEddie George: 348 carries 1294 yards 5 TDsCurtis Martin: 369 carries 1287 yards 8 TDsI can see Faulk going in over Taylor because of the receptions. Taylor destroyed Martin and George's output on 100 less carries (same yards double TDs and a rookie to boot).George and Martin both got in over him.

:sadbanana: I think Freddie is underrated by too many. I see him as a phenomenal rb #3

AFC RBs off the top of my head...Ricky Williams, Faulk (Colts), Edge (Colts), George, Jam Lewis, Curtis Martin, T.Davis, Bettis?. Tons of talent in the AFC during Taylor's career, but it is a shame he never made it. Many defenders have said that when healthy, Taylor was the most dangerous back they'd faced. The "Fragile Fred" portion of his career really damaged his rep, and happened right when he should have been at the peak of his career.
