@ClaytonESPN: Dolphins looking at resigning Ronnie Brown.
The Ronnie Brown news started to boil up after the Dolphins already spoke with Bradshaw and Barber. I suspect Ronnie is just being used for leverage in negotiations with Bradshaw and Barber. Barber will likely agree to terms by the end of the day but I don't see the Dolphins paying Bradshaw what he wants in the end.
bradshaw in MIA the nightmare scenario for daniel thomas owners... sigh of relief if barber or brown...

If Bradshaw goes to Miami then what do the Giants do? Have to think they would bring in more than a 29 year old Jacobs. Maybe they trade for Goodson, or even better my boy Tyrell Sutton.
Wouldn't they look at guys like Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams, Willis McGahee, etc. Tiki or Westbrook even???ETA: Is a guy like Reggie Bush a possibility or even RFA Michael Bush?

From Jets beat writer Manish Mehta:

GM Mike Tannenbaum's creativity on display. #Jets Santonio Holmes will only count $2.45M against 2011 cap. $1M base salary, per source
Perhaps there is room for Nnamdi after all.
The Jets are expected to ask LaDanian Tomlinson to take a pay cut to free up salary cap space. This isn't just any old "restructuring," either. Manish Mehta of the New York Daily news confirms that Tomlinson will be asked to take "less money. LT is due a $2.425 million base salary, and the Jets want to sign Nnamdi Asomugha. It's not out of the question that the 32-year-old Tomlinson could be released

Clayton says skins going after Braylon and Sidney Rice
I dont think Shanny has the patience to develop a WR at this point in time. And I KNOW Snyder doesn't.

Having said that they'll probably give Edwards a fat contract he doesn't deserve and wonder why they aren't successful. Yikes.

Out of those 2 if they dont get Rice, it's gonna be a tough yr for Skins fans.
S. Moss, Armstrong, Gaffney, StallworthCertainly there aren't signing both and I doubt now they sign either
Agreed. The Skins still have Malcolm Kelly, who was injured (again) last year. And they also drafted 3 wr's, so they've certainly upgraded their wr core from last season, when Joey Galloway was starting at one point.
I cant believe as a skin fan that you wanna go into 2011 with these guys. I've seen how fired up you get.

Who do you really want? I mean a guy that could reasonably be acquired?
Yes. That's exactly what I want as a Skins fan. I want them to mainly build through the draft and not overpay for FA's. Look, I would of loved for them to have signed Holmes and I was actually a little disappointed that they didn't. Then I saw he got a 5 year/50 million dollar deal. While I understand the Jets had to overpay since they're knocking on the door of the Super Bowl and he's their best skill player, it would have been a bad decision for the Skins to do so.

If they can get Braylon Edwards for cheap, I'm all for it, but I wouldn't give him a significant contract, especially since Braylon could be in jail for part of the season.

And I want no part of Sidney Rice. He's going to be grossly overpaid, is coming off an injury, and isn't a true #1 wr, imo.

Their top 2 wr's last year return, Moss and Armstrong. Hopefully Armstrong continues to develop and improve.

Gaffney is an upgrade. He's a nice sized possession receiver who catches everything thrown at him. If you watched the Skins play last year, you know they were plagued by drops.

Stallworth is a classic low risk high reward guy. I don't know if he can still play, since the Ravens hardly used him last year, but all the rust should be gone since he's 1 year removed from his suspension. And if he doesn't make the team it isn't a big deal since they didn't sign him for much more than the minimum.

Kelly reportedly looked good last year before getting injured and this will be his last chance with the Skins. If he can actually stay healthy (big if!) he should contribute and be an upgrade.

The Skins drafted 3 rookies. Leonard Hankerson was the 3rd best wr in the draft, imo. Niles Paul was a steal in the 5th round and would of been a day 2 pick had he played for a college team with a competent OC and QB. If these guys both make the team, like I expect them to, that leaves only 3 wr spots open on the roster (4 if Brandon Banks is the return man again).

In summary, a wr core of Moss, Gaffney, Armstrong, Hankerson, Paul (and possibly Banks) would defnitely be better than what they had last year. They wouldn't have a lot of $$$ tied up in their wr's and would have a couple young wr's to develop.

Finally, if the Skins are going to get a big name player on offense, it needs to be a OL.

@NFL_Bridge Marc Lillibridge

Congrats to NSA client LB Quincy Black on new 5 year $29 million deal to stay in Tampa with Bucs!

Holy crap.

I can respect that but I dont think they are done acquiring WRs. We shall see.

Not only did they resign both linebacks, but @carilinagrowl also reports that they signed CB Celtis Gordan, S Kevin Payne, and S Devin Hall.

Well, they just signed Stokley and reportedly have 14 wr's on their roster at the moment. Not sure how many more they can afford to add.

Maybe they could trade for Jonathan Stewart and make all those Stewart owners(and probably Giants fans) happy.
Gaffney to Redskins should mean a pretty good bump for Decker.......
Could be, just as likely it could mean they intend to use Eddie Royal a lot better than McDaniels did. Or perhaps Thomas is healthier than we know.

Is it just me or are some teams making some terrible sounding signings here? I'm not super familiar with the financial situations of these clubs or the new CBA, but these signings seem NBA-esque at how much $$ some average and just above average players are taking in.

Omar Kelly

@OmarKelly Omar Kelly

I'm being told Ahmad Bradshaw has exited the Dolphins' price range. Look for him to return to the Giants unless terms change on his requests

I had a feeling that DWill's deal would price Bradshaw a bit higher than the Dolphins would want to go for a 1a/1b option to pair with Thomas. We'll see, but I hope this report is accurate.

I dont think Bradshaw ever wanted to leave. Just looking for leverage and I dont blame him.As a Bradshaw owner I really just want to see him stay put.

Me too. in NY, we know he'll catch the ball, and be on an offense that will move the ball.

He's not as good as DWil, but he is quite a bit younger. I tend to agree that he mostly is using it for leverage. NY seems like a great place for him. I am more hopeful he will stay now.

Clements cut to make room for a Nnamadi push
Nnamdi talk in niner land has been getting seriously heated. From the sound of it, OAK hasn't given up either. Clements got cut cause the niners saved 14mil against the cap, an absurd figure for a player who clearly has fallen back in ability. This would have happened regardless of Nnamdi.

He's either taking a pay cut or he'll get cut. There's no way he's going to eat up 14mil in cap space.

Found this to be interesting: @AdamSchefter Here's a new wrinkle 4-year, $8.2 million contract of Bucs 1st-round first-round pick Adrian Clayborn is fully guaranteed.

Braylon Edwards tweeted and then deleted this:

"I would love to be a Jet but the feeling doesn't seem to be mutual with the management."
Then he also tweeted:
Will always love jets nation no matter what happens
No shock, but it seems clear the Jets are moving in a different direction.

Very interesting approach to probably help reach the salary floor this year. In comparison to last year's 20th overall pick, the Bucs get a bargain under the new rookie scale and I'd imagine some discount for guaranteeing the full amount. Last year, the 20th overall pick (CB Kareem Jackson of the Texans) signed a 4 year contract worth $13.1 million that included $10.35 million in guaranteed money.

Top 20 undrafted free agents not loaded with sudden impact

3. Derrick Locke, RB, Kentucky: Has quickness and speed needed for success at running back.
Locke can't play in the NFL until he has major back surgery which would put him out a year and bed-ridden for a good portion of that too.He can not pass an NFL physical.

Some team would have to sign him and wait.

He has 4.2 speed and probably would have been a very safe bet to think he'd be a very good return man in the NFL, but his body is smallish to be a sled-dog NFL RB. It's more likely that he'd have been a changeup sorta 3rd down back.

The Raiders loved him. Titans and Cincy were very interested and his choice of where to play.

What team is going to pay him to sit for a year?

He's in a very difficult spot.
bump
