Freelance Article Contest... (1 Viewer)

Hey guys, my article didn't make it (certainly no shame given the depth of knowledge on the MB), but I'd like to post it here so I can get some feedback.

Does anyone have any ideas about how I can link to an excel file so that the data I complied and the calcualtions I performed can be seen by everyone?? If I paste in the file, can everyone download it and then open it?? Sorry for my ignorance, and thanks for the help!!

If I can figure it out, I'd be more than happy to start a "not-quite-good-enough to make the site" thread for the 75 or so of us didn't make the cut.

Can't wait to see the articles!!!
I can't help with the Excel although I'll happily open a file along with your article.I would suggest a new thread for each though. Those threads might get pretty long when we discuss them and some might get lost in the crowd.

Sorry you didn't make it.

Thanks museboy....I've been playing around with the formatting and I think I can fit enough of the info into a word doc. and then just copy and paste.

I'll try and get it posted later tonight.

You can just post a screen shot of the Excel file. That might be the easiest way.And congrats to all that made it! For those that didn't, keep trying.

I wonder if the nine on the fence have been decided? Otherwise, how would Chris Black know his article didn't get picked?

Does anyone know how 26 entries (and 9 maybes) get whittled down to 12 entries into a FFTOC league?

If we select your article to be posted, we will pay $30 and put you in an FFTOC league where you will compete against 11 other writers for $250 cash.
26 + 10 = 36 Three twelve team leagues
Correct - except for one thing. Clayton stated (26) givens and (9) possibles. That's only (35). And I think I know where the 36th person comes from.

Yeeehaaa! I made it! I got word that my article made the cut too. It will be called "How to Prepare for a Keeper League’s First Year with Keepers" or something like that depending on editorial changes. Hope y'all like it.

I went that route because there are so few strategy articles available on Keeper leagues. I guess its because they fall somewhere between redraft and dynasty. Whatever the reason, it seemed like a good niche. I must be a fantasy football nerd... :nerd:

It's definitely useful to come up with a subject that hasn't been discussed to death.Congrats on your success, I look forward to reading it

When are the selected authors supposed to be informed and how?
The original advert said it will be published here on the 17th...Freelance Writing Opportunity

Our readers are some of the most knowledgeable football guys anywhere. Now's your chance to show the world and have your work published and promoted to a zillion serious Fantasy Owners. We are looking for up to 60 great freelance articles on fantasy football. Specifically, we are looking for articles that have not been published before on other websites. New takes...new ideas...interesting studies, etc.

...

If we select your article to be posted, we will pay $30 and put you in an FFTOC league where you will compete against 11 other writers for $250 cash.

Payment will be $30 for the first article selected from each writer. If multiple articles from a writer are selected, you will be paid $35 for each additional article, but given just 1 entry into a FFTOC league (to compete for $250).
Hi Clayton, David, Joe,As I mentioned "earlier" in this thread - I was fortunate enough to have an article selected to be posted on the site.

In fact, I received 2 emails from Clayton (the first one asking for a mailing address) and the second one - related to a second article, asking for the database of the study (which I sent earlier today).

I'm just wondering if it's mean that my two articles were selected? (if that's not the case, please disregard the rest of the text)... and if so, rather than the 35$ mentioned above (in the original thread) - I would want to know if it's possible to transform this into a Footballguys.com subscription?

Please don't interpret this as bragging - In fact, I know that the knowledge of members and staff here is unsurpassed (far better than mine!) - and I would just want to thank FBG by giving me the opportunity to benefit from all the subscribers materiel in exchange for the published articles...

Just let me know about the feasibility of this or not...

Thanks in advance.

"If we select your article to be posted, we will pay $30 and put you in an FFTOC league where you will compete against 11 other writers for $250 cash."

Question for the board: Does this mean that the type league we will be in will automatically be the "start a player once during the season" type league?

I wonder how the latest email from Joe will affect us (divesting themselves of FFTOC) since our league was supposed to be FFTOC?

Still no articles posted either!

No kidding. I am going to be really ticked if I don't get my prizes for my winning article, "How to promote your league through hijacked e-mail databases".

Well, I was looking forward to the competition, as it was a big reason I entered the contest, and I need both the $30 and a shot at $250. But the format of the competition matters not at all to me, so FBG should feel free to consider this my release from the FFTOC part of the prize, as I trust them to come up with an acceptable alternative competition with an equally rewarding opportunity.

Based on that trust, I dont want FBG subscribers to miss out on the strategy tips in my article because of uncertainty over whether they can deliver the original price. Dont worry about that, Joe & David, or FBG, just publish my article as soon as convenient for you and worry about how to comp me later. I will accept whatever you choose to offer, because I know you guys take care of people and I am not worried about it...

I suggest anyone else who may be wondering if their wisdom will get dissemninated to fellow FBGers in a timely fashion also release FBG from the promise of an FFTOC league and trust them to offer an alternative later, when they are done fighting the other fires. They aren't going to fail us, and in the meantime, the subscribers need our advice...

I will start another thread just also just to highlight this 'release' petition and edit a link to it in here later.

(here that thread is http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...=0#entry5264486

Has there been any news on the league format for those who won the freelance article contest now that the FFTOC is out of the loop?

Hoping for redraft... :banned:

Anyone got contacted for the league?...
:(
Yeah, I was wondering the same thing this weekend. I still have not seen my article hit the site yet either.

I know it can be frustrating, but I'm hurrying to format these.
Thanks for the update Clayton... no need to worry about hurrying the articles - I was just wondering about the league...A personal request, I'm not sure if you received the PM I sent a while ago asking if it was possible to convert the second article "reward" from cash to a FBG subsciption (if I had more than one article selected - not sure, since I received two emails from you)... If you need more info - please just let me know...Thanks in advance

Man, practically two weeks before the first NFL regular season game. I wonder what the FBG's are thinkin' as a replacement contest for us?

I don't think it's a draft league, I think it still may be a FFTOC-type league. Still would be nice to know.

It will probably be a token gesture like two Super Bowl tickets per article
