Friday Night Tykes YES! (1 Viewer)

Good Morning Members,

I am sending this email to address actions that have taken place against coach/volunteers in the Friday Night Tykes TV Show. As the previous email stated...TYFA does not support nor do we condone the actions, language and behavior of the coach/volunteers in the show. We are 4 weeks into the show and we continue to see violations of rules, but more importantly we have seen blatant violations of the code of conduct and we will not stand for this.

As of Jan 26, 2014 TYFA has taken disciplinary action against Charles Chavarria (Broncos) and Marecus Goodloe (Colts) for violations of the code of conduct. I am not going to go into what the specifics are, but I am sure you are aware of what they have done.

The following disciplinary actions have been taken:
  • Charles Chavarria - was removed from his duties as a TYFA Black Shirt, he has been suspended from coaching for the entire 2014 season (Spring and Fall) and is required to write a letter of apology to the entire TYFA membership for embarrassing the you and the league.
  • Marecus Goodloe - Has been suspended for the entire 2014 spring football season and is required to write a letter of apology to the entire TYFA membership for embarrassing the you and the league.
In order to maintain transparency, we will make public the actions taken against said coaches and any other coach/volunteers. As of now these are the actions that have been taken by TYFA and we will continue to monitor the show and punish those coach/volunteers that have violated our rules, policies and code of conduct. I want to reassure you that we have taken this seriously and just because theses coach/volunteers participated in the show it does not afford them amnesty for their conduct. They all took the certification course and they know that they have not displayed the type of conduct expected by the league."
My son begs me daily to let him play this year. It is the sport he truly takes to and is good at... hard to weigh.

Fear for your kids is a powerful thing to shake free of.
Then have you kid play in another league. I beleive there are at least 2 other leagues in SA besides TYFA.

Just watched the opening and this is just sad. Is it any wonder that girls outnumber boys going to college and seem to do better in school? I went to an Ivy league college and aside from the fact that most parents think their kids are the smartest or best athletes, I know my oldest has always mentioned girls as other students who do as well as him. I am sort of glad he isn't a sports nut, because he is in 7th grade, pretty much handles all his work, test schedules, etc. all by himself. Couldn't be prouder that all he asks me about are questions he gets stuck or giving me a study sheet to test him the night before. If he liked baseball and was good enough for travel ball, he wouldn't have time to do all of this and get straight A's. I sure as heck know which path will lead him on a chance to be most successful in life. I loved sports and love playing baseball with my 2 younger sons, but this #### makes me realize that the great American Empire is going the way of the other empires before. Being like the people on reality TV or being on a travel team is somehow more important than inventing the next big thing. Thank goodness there are still kids going to school for an education, because the more we put these idiots on TV and glorify 8/9 year old Texas football, the quicker we become a has been.

Oh well, gotta get off the soap box, but stuff like this makes me sick. Another reason why even though I love football and played until college that I might not ever let my sons play it. If some ##### is coaching the other team like that and hurts my kid, I would be more pissed at myself for knowing that I put him in that situation. I am not Marshall Faulk, my kids have about a snowball's chance in hell of playing pro-anything and based at looking at the physiques of most of those coaches and parents, so do their kids.
You don't think this stuff goes on with girls? Go to a higher level softball tournament sometime, you will see coaches and parents every bit as crazy as these people.
Yeah, two words: Dance Moms. On the spectrum of normal to hysterical parents, I can't think of any breed more hysterical or maniacal than Dance Moms.

So, I cracked and actually watched 2 episodes of this. Just terrible. I feel dumber for having seen it. These guys coaching - i just don't know what to say. The kid of cursing that goes on with 8 and 9 year old's. That hit to the head in the Broncos Outlaws game. Holy crap that was bad. The whole thing is over the top. Can't say i will go back and watch anymore. IT just reaffirmed my earlier stance on this show.

Watched the last show, the fact that #28 was allowed back in the game after he appeared to be knocked out was jaw dropping. Also forcing your kid back out there after he threw up on the field in a 40+ to 0 game is insane.

This is like Toddlers and Tiaras for boys
Excellent analogy.

Just saw this and was thoroughly disgusted... that kid was out cold.

They're really humanizing the coaches in this most recent episode. The thing with the autistic kid was pretty touching... especially the other team going along with it right after getting drilled.

Kids are back in for the Fall season. Tons of coaches gone, implemented the Heads Up program. Practices have been long and brutal (M-F 6-8pm), but there is a new focus on keeping the kids hydrated and giving them breaks in the shade. Still very competitive, but feels more balanced.

Our new home field is sweet.
